Exquisite craftsmanship aside, I learned a lot about the history of cigar box guitars. This was really well done.
What great video! I build electric CBG's because I love the history behind them but also because I really love their sound and tone, with each guitar having a voice all its own. They're unassuming, innocent looking instruments until you plug one in and hear it peel the paint off your living room walls.
Great video man. I enjoyed the history lesson. Good playing also. I've been playing six string guitars for 65 years, I'm just now getting interested in the cigar box. I think I'll build one. Have a great day brother.
Thanks for the history lesson, great playing as well. CBG's are a blast to build and play.
I had like six or seven cigar boxes lying around from some dude my father knew.
I think I threw them all away, and boy, do I regret that decision now.
I could've made quite a few different guitar and bass variants out of them.
What enjoyable and enlightening video. Thanks.
Thanks, Edward! I really enjoyed this video. I started making up a song, “Oh Lord have mercy, my cigar box guitar is so big I injured my groin…”🎶🎵🎵🎶
I came across you years ago because of the CBG, looking for blues to play with a slide. I’ve built many of them, but not now. I still have one, 3 string, & it sits there with my Strats. I would urge anyone to build & play these fun instruments. Anyone can crack a tune out in open D or G. 👍
Fantastic video Edward! I have made a few solid body guitars as well as a Bass guitar and an Acoustic guitar. Never thought about making a Cigar Box guitar, so I now have that on my list of to do's! Thanks! 👍👍🎸🎸
Thanks for this one. Really enjoying your videos lately!
Thanks for the awesome video and fantastic performance!
Hey great video Edward! Thanks for the history.
Incredible
Thanks for that history!
😎👍 Thanks Ed !
Great video Ed! Sounds awesome, nice little joke about Gibson too, lol!
Very good
great sound 🙂
Nice little history lesson. Thank you. Does your CBG have a functional truss rod in the neck? Just seems like the neck would bow forward, given the tension of the strings and the weak connection of the neck to the body.
Mind your own business, Grandpa.
Truly excellent vid on a great subject! A bit longer & more in depth would be much appreciated & till then, thank you & rock on....
4:45 😂it's my DIY skills
4:03 ... just for clarification this a photoshopped image, the perspective of the cbg is wrong and I've seen the original photo of Jimi playing a stratocaster...iirc, Jimi reported as a kid he stuck a broom handle through a box and used screen door wire...
