    • @brettleisy356
      @brettleisy356 4 года назад +4

      the heat bend in the pipe can also be done if you know about how far you will need to bend the pipe. using a camp fire, camp stove, or even the house stove, can be held above a toaster even. you could take this project further and flatten it using the heat method and then pressing between two boards. might make it easier to play with a flatter surface to press down onto.

    Wow, this is actually pretty cool. It reminds me of when I was younger and couldn't afford any instruments, so I always tried making my own. I made a guitar-ish instrument with a bamboo neck and a large water jug as the resonator. The 2 strings were nylon fishing line tied to a screw for tuning. Needless to say, it sucked, but I've always had a thing for building extremely rough and simple instruments, so I'll definitely try this out. Great work.

If you were to make this a bit more complicated and make tension knobs it would probably work better. However I doubt this is rigid enough to really work like a violin. My scoutmaster taught me that the three loops should all go in the same direction, but it looks like in the video you are reversing the direction of the last loop. I actually have no idea if this has any impact on the strength/performance of the knot, so sorry if this comment is just being nitpicky

    I am commenting because this man ( Ben?) is the bomb for explaining. I'm one of those people that have to read an something 5xs because I tend to drift. I've seen quite a few videos on many topics of my interest , this man is gifted with teaching . Touche'! Unfortunately I
    don't have a 2 liter bottle. 😟

    Love the simplicity of the instrument, and the way your bird just crawls all over you.

    I would say that is the "trombone" of stringed instruments. Thanks for posting.

    Okay, there was so much going on in this video that I thought I should sub to you. Terrific vid, too. My critique: A. My third grade violin teacher would NOT approve of those frets. B. I have a B&G Macaw who won't act like a Caique no matter how much I beg him to be comical. He has his own kind of comical, I guess, and he owns my heart, but your baby is completely adorable. C. I already know those knots, so I'm good to go. C. 1. There is something called a "flying bowline." Don't know if you've heard of it, but it's a fun party trick. It's not a true bowline, but it will impress a "tough room." I wish I could show you, but it seems impossible to explain. You have to throw out the running end so it comes back over itself, and then magic occurs for the rest of the knot. It's just muscle memory now. I can't explain it. Anyway, great vid. I'm making that instrument, and doing the frets too. That teacher didn't like me anyway. lol

    This is the first video I saw on your channel and it helped a lot... I always wanted to make a instrument from my own.
    I tried all kinds of methods in craft but I failed by shortage of complex materials or I saw fake videos. I made this in first try and it really works . Thanks a lot.

    Used both of those knots to make a tensegrity table. (A table held up by ropes)

    If you have a strong string like nylon, you can use it to cut the pipe or cap of the bottle. You just rub it back and forth to create friction and heat. I learned this as an electrician to cut pipes in ditches when you can't get a saw under the pipe.
