I change out the waveguides with the mag. The covers are usually cracked due to age and neglect of proper cleaning. Turbo chef knew that putting glass waveguides on the bottom of the interior cabinet was a bad idea and the new models are on the side. Great video keep it up bro. I am a service tech as well.
Are you touching the back pannel and then moving it toward the capacitor terminal to ground it? How are you grounding the caps, was kind of hard to see in the video
So I will make sure that my hand is on the insulated end of the screwdriver then I’ll touch the screwdriver shaft to the capacitor terminal that’s not insulated them touch the shaft to the back panel while it is touching the capacitor terminal.

I have 2 Bad mags. How do I find the correct one? The Originals say Toshiba 2m248j (TU) on the old mags. But I can't find the very specific ones online. Are those 2 Letters in the () important???
I am having a problem with the turbochef at my job and my D.M. wants us to continue using it.......there are two setting on top of each other.......the one on the bottom was having problems and surprisingly works perfect now because it kept going to oven off and would go to oven off when it became noon.......the top one shows the f3 error code and the longest I could heat something was for 10 seconds and made the heat time on those food items longer because it was a pain to keep heating food longer ....... sooooo I told everyone that it's pretty dangerous to continue to use it with an error code like that and the wall on the back of these two units is browned and that's not too good either.......I started just using the one on the bottom because it suddenly started to work right.......
Now the bottom one keeps turning to off which it was doing and top one still only cooking at 10 second intervals so it makes it frustrating to use.......
I quit that job because they do not care to repair they just want us to continue using it with a broken circuit breaker or whatever is going on with it lying that they were sending a technician and I consider it a health hazard....... and wanting us to continue just doing the 10 seconds at a time continuing to cook the food that way open and closing the door and resetting it for 10 seconds at a time and the bottom one will just wouldn't work at all because the fan stopped working also....... all they cared about was making sales sales sales very pathetic and sad and I had to quit them
The 120pg manual should tell you all you need to know. Afaik, not many bother with ghetto repairs like fixing an ir stand, replacing mag fan caps, repairing ir wiring, ec board repair, mag and transformer repair. Transformer repair is easily the most nerve racking getting the winding exact in a cost/time efficient manner makes it easier to just buy new. Too bad it ends up in land fills in most areas.

When we cooking over 40sec it saying f3 but 25sec ok. And when I take self test it pass the microwave part. So I guess this is kind of relate with relay or filament transformer. Can you just give some tip? I already test magnetron and the other stuff working good. Please, give some advices 🥲
I always thought it had to be the primary side because it could still draw amps if there was power to it, but never actually tried it from pulling it on the secondary side. Definitely would be a lot easier from the secondary side.
This could have been a great video, but the camera work made me seasick as fu k. I have to change a magnetron tomorrow and was hoping for a heads up... not nauseous

Yes, those wave guide covers are really expensive, it was a flaw in this design.

Any screw driver will work as long as you are not touching the metal shaft of it.

I had a great teacher in Conner from Turbochef and just from working on them a lot earlier on in my career. Now I don’t work on them as much.

You only need to pull the secondary tap. FYI ;)

Dude 20amp fuse blown
U have a bad relay or door switch
20amp fuse only protects the primary side of HVT and before
If your mag circuit is drawing 30A due to a bad HVT, it will blow that fuse.
