Great video, very detailed explenation of the procedure! Too bad that you were so unlucky with the gear disassembly so that the windshield cracked :/ I'm owning a '92 500 SEL and I'm not sure if my car has the same mechanism which is expanding the radius of the driver side wiper. I'll keep you informed the next time I'll get my car out of the garage (i'm not driving in winter). What model year is yours - maybe they've changed the mechanism or replaced the tiny gear with one made out of plastic (during the first facelift in 93 or the second facelift 95, as they were trying to gradually save more money in the production). This is also the reason why the first cars are better protected from corrosion or why the overall material quality (except the wiring harness) is better in '92 and 93 cars. They also got rid of the electric mirror inside the car during the facelift!

U can get your windshield repaired with some fluid. Call a glass repair company. Don't buy a new one. Expensive!
