Tim I have a question, how do you initialize the windows? Basically when you open the doors, with the window up, the window drops down a little bit. And when you close the door the window closes for that seal. Hopefully you know what I’m talking about... Thanks!! Keep those w140 coupe videos coming.. Thanks brother...
Hi, thanks for your comment. To do the window reset, you need to go through a simple procedure. With each window, you need to do the following: Scroll the window down all the way, but continue to hold down the window switch for 10 seconds after it reaches the bottom position. Listen carefully, and you should hear a small "click" like a switch. Then, scroll it all the way up again, and continue to hold the button for around 10 seconds after it reaches the top position. Again, you should hear a small switch click. You will need to do this procedure to each window individually. Always start with the front window on each side first, and make sure the rear window is positioned slightly down when you are doing the fronts. The reason for this is that if the rear window is fully up (and not yet programmed), it won't drop down to allow the front window to slide properly into place. Once you've done the front, you can leave the front window in the fully up position, and go through the same procedure for the rears. Once you've completed the procedure, the windows should respond and drop down slightly when you open the door, and the rear window should drop slightly when you open the front window. Just remember that tip about dropping the rear window slightly when doing the front window reset - saves a lot of stress on the window motors which would be pushing hard against the rubber if the rear windows are in the fully up position. Hope that helps!
i've subscribed, but being on the dole i buy my wipers from the pound shop, they don't fit, but 3 cable ties on each and the jobs a good one, they only last about 2 years in uk where it rains every day, but that's still only £12 spent in the past 12 years and 100,000 miles on wipers.
I have c140 auxiliary fans are not working, what is the possible cause? I know most problems in MB are wiring and relays. it is not my daily drive vehicle but it will be soon.
You need the hood open to have enough clearance when you are lifting the blades off the glass. The blades are quite close to the hood when it's down, and there's a good chance you'll scratch the hood unless it's open.
Thanks Galvin. The M119 engine itself has to be one of the best engines Mercedes produced. Bullet proof if well looked after, and can achieve very high mileage like most older Benz engines. The motor itself I have found to be very reliable (my car has approximately 160,000km, which is relatively low). The only issue I have had is a small rocker cover leak which was fixed by a general mechanic easily and cheaply enough. However, it's the accessories, in my view, that cause the most cost in maintaining these cars. For example, make sure there are no leaks around the power steering pump, water pump, AC compressor etc. Those items are not cheap to replace if you use genuine parts. Like all cars, great if you can find one with a good service history. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Classic Register thank you very much! I have found a perfect adviser! I will be getting one very soon and it will be my first Benz and V8 car. Hence was abit worried. Will definitely ask your for more guidance. Where do i follow you on instagram?
