Love the different camera angles because we can see how much water is on the brush or how you move the brush on the paper. Second nature for you I'm sure but instructive for us novices. Great tutorial and adorable painting. Feels like home
Thank you very much! I really appreciate the feedback about the camera angle too. We are just beginning to branch out and use a second iPhone to film with. Glad it worked for you in this video.
My friend, i have a terrible time memorizing a speech and such! But song lyrics stay in my head a lifetime! I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s the melody and cadence of a song that make the lyrics memorable. Without the music, I’m lost. Its quite a hoot!❤️
So pretty! I'm new at watercoloring and I want to learn so badly. I'm 65 and just now starting but I think these paintings are beautiful. I just had to subscribe to your channel.
What a nifty trick with the wax resist on the trees! Lots to learn from this lesson. Painting today to help my nerves due massive storms rolling through California! You are right Diane about not being able to worry about things much while lost in painting! OXOX❤️
You got this! Sorry to hear about the terrible storms, we’ve got bad weather and high winds here too but nothing like what you have. Hope you’re keeping safe and warm!
@@DianeAntoneStudio I am, with help from my two fur balls, who keep my lap very warm! They are not only my muses (mewses) but vibrating heating pads…(with pads!)…..sorry…couldn’t resist! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm sure there must be something Aesop-like in your painting, with the fox and the bunnies sitting so harmoniously! Thanks for sharing the techniques, I enjoyed watching
Diane, this is the sweetest painting! Your winter scene could not be more perfect. You captured everything in this painting that makes for a crisp winter day. The waxing technique is clever and the snow you added to the pine trees was brushed on so easily by you. The shades of red on the berries really completes it. I love seeing the little fox and bunnies conversing in the snow. Your creativity astounds me!
Love this. I need to replay to see the candle use again. I’m thinking you don’t cover the trunk fully with the wax otherwise you wouldn’t get any paint down? Oh and when you mentioned the further away the bluer things are, I looked at the hills in the distance compared to the closer ones and really noticed it for the first time! Thank you.
Thanks for your comments Sharon, you’re right, it’s not a heavy layer of wax, just a little to increase the dry-brush effect. And yes, it’s amazing how the aerial perspective makes things in the distance seem bluer.
Gorgeous and fun at the same time 💜 Great video, as usual, Diane! Note: I can picture "the ball of light" but it annoys me when TOLD to do so, LOL 🤷♀️
Oh Diane, you inspire me soooo much. I LOVE that painting, you make it look so easy. You just throw in the paint & it’s done. I had never seen a candle used to add shadow on a tree; it looks beautiful. QUESTION: do you add the candle on the entire tree trunk or only on the edges? Looks amazing!
What I did was just put in a rough area for the trunk, then when I painted it I extended a bit to the right to where the wax wasn’t, which made the right side look a bit darker. Does that make sense?
Neutral Tint is a standard colour available from most of the main manufacturers. It is made from two or three colors, which can vary from one maker to another. The result is similar to black, but the idea is that you can use it to darken any colour without spoiling it. Hope this helps!

You can do it! It’s never too late to start, and you’re in the right place!
Me to!L
I usually have breakfast with you. It doesn’t matter if I paint you’re just good company.
This is such a lovely painting, would be fantastic on a Christmas card 😊
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful scene! Love the soft wintery colors, much needed right now. On top of my list to give it a go as soon as possible. Thanks, Diane! ❤

Oh how can you say you have no imagination when you draw and paint everything into life! You are magical!
The candle wax on the trees really makes nice texture. Very cute painting!
Thanks so much 😊
Looking forward to doing this for a few of my Christmas cards.

The ball of light always eludes me too! I admire those who can envision!
Apparently it can be distracting!

it looked like she did it on the left side only? I'll have to go back and look at that, too😊

Oh. And I can envision things quite realistically but does it help my painting....no! You create as you go; that's even better.

I can't find the sketch.
Sorry Annmarie, technical hitch, it should be up in a few minutes now (4pm GMT)
