I always admire the artist who has an understanding almost like a partnership with the medium, such serene control. I could never get watercolors to respect me.😄 This is a lovely image, peaceful and yet warm and outreaching in tone. A wonderful Christmas image.
This is indeed an interesting way to look at it, but one must remember that the quality of the material really has some impact on what you can achieve, especially when using watercolours. I think with cheap colours like they are used by school-children you could not produce such a painting like this. So perhaps if the outcome of your efforts looks disappointing, perhaps the quality of the colours and/or paper is, in part, to blame.

I'm not sure why you would make an assumption like that; and I know, because of other media in which I have some fair competence, that quality materials go their distance toward good results, but are no magical guarantee. So I will let my comment and my appreciation of this painter stand as they are.
@annikke - I think u were trying to be encouraging, like "if you use higher quality materials, you might like your results more." that's the way i took it, having experienced that myself when someone was kind enough to suggest it. ;-)

Thank you 😊 glad you think so, I recommend using a craft brush with slightly rougher bristles for masking fluid and wash it with a tiny bit of dish soap before using the masking fluid so that the masking fluid doesn’t stick to the bristles too much. Makes cleaning it much easier.
