In the last five years, I’ve sort of settled on plate reverb for most things. I initially discovered its “magic” in pro tools, working with Chris Lord Alge’s vocal plugin. It’s still a mechanical, analog style reverb but it doesn’t contain as many artifacts as a spring...and like you said, it doesn’t latch onto certain resonant frequencies, etc. it’s just a nice, smooth, ever-present “wetness” that doesn’t clog the pipes. I don’t think my hardwire supernatural has budged from “plate” in the last five years hahah
A good point that was proven but overlooked by most is the HOF sounds great and for the average player (someone not into super tweeking) the HOF is a much better value !!!!!
I bought the HOF with high hopes and was sorely disappointed. I don’t need something like the Big Sky, but the HOF just sounded cheap. That’s me, a lot of people like it and that’s fine, just not for me.
I was trying to focus on the different types of reverb but I got to distracted from the beautiful electric guitar, I had to watch it again lol, god I love music so much! and thanks for the video it was super helpful
I'm always impressed with the HOF algorithms when I hear them side by side with the Big Sky. Obviously the Big Sky has more features, but it's hard to justify paying 4x as much when ultimately the HOF sounds just as good.
it's personal taste but my experience with TC Electronic pedals is they all sound kinda metallic and cheap...hard to explain. When I got my Strymons it was like "Ok, finally." You get what you pay for most of the time...not always, but most of the time.
Kelster Von Shredster the difference between my chinese Reverb vs the hall of fame is night and day difference between the hall of fame and the big sky.
Wow, this is excellent! Things are very clearly explained. I really like 6:09 and the following ha! ha! What are the beautiful chord progression at 1:467:44? Keep up the good work, Antoine, thanks!
HI Antoine, Thanks very much for this video. I have played bass for many years where the only thing between the bass and the DI box was a cable. I'm playing more electric guitar live now and it has been quite a mystery to me how to get a good reverb sound. Your videos have been extremely helpful in getting very nice sounds out of the HOF pedal I have.
The Hall of fame really holds it's own well-I have The HOF Arena Reverb & it is awesome.Especially since it has the Tone Print which I downloaded the Steve Morse Reverb from his signature ENGL Amp & sounds really epic for heavy rock.I'm using an ENGL FIREBALL Amp N the Sounds are exact-Now The Strymon is really versatile N can achieve huge shimmering Soundscapes-which I really love for a lush ambient layering but wondering if I really love it since it's close to $500 bucks ...
Yes, I am proud to be part of the Monochrome Seasons video team. You do all the hard work creating the videos and then I come up with something funny to say and that's my part!
Not 100% sure, but I reckon it'd be the "Shape" parameter (If I recall correctly, a reverb's shape affects both early reflections and diffusion of the sound, with lower values lending towards a more "open" reverb, and higher values lending towards a "tighter" one--to keep things brief). If I happen to be wrong and someone knows better or can expand, please correct me.
Le Big Sky prend de la place sur le pedalboard.Il commence a dater un peu.La 2 ieme version de la TC est vraiment bonne et compacte.Merci pour les sons.
handsomerube Of course, it's a keeper on my board! It's just because it didn't have all the types of reverbs I needed that I changed it for the Hall of Fame for this video.

Thank you Tommy Wiseau
What a story
Oh hai Mark!
Antoine before reverb: "Oh hi Mark."
Antoine after reverb: "Oh hi mark hi mark hi mark h i m a r k h i m a r k"
Warning. Tommy Wiseau refrence
Incredibly useful video! Been playing for years and always struggled with this until now 😊
Glad it helped :-)

I find plate to generally be my favourite. I've always loved that wicked game Chris isaak sound.
Not sure about the comments saying hof sounds cheap. It sounds pretty good to me. In fact i liked the sound of the hof better here.

Kelster Von Shredster same. I bought the HOF and was very excited but was sorely disappointed.
@@dostacos1 don't blame you...it's crap lol
I finally start to understand something regarding reverb ... Tx for that!!
Fantastic comparison between the different types of reverb, explained simply but well, good job 👍
Great playing and a concise overview of the principles being used. Awesome vidio.
You explain it perfect with your voice!, like when i discribe the strat, tele ando lp sound
Great video, perfect explanation of reverb types
Wowwww. Hall of Fame truly put a beat down on Big Sky. I’ve always said it. Now I now it to be true. Thanks for this.
Wow, this is excellent! Things are very clearly explained. I really like 6:09 and the following ha! ha! What are the beautiful chord progression at 1:46 7:44? Keep up the good work, Antoine, thanks!

Really good video you opened my eyes and ears, thank you 🙏
Great video! I just wish you used the HoF for the comparison at the end because the spring sounded way better on it than on the strymon lol
This was a huge help, thank you.
You do a great gsp impression bro!
Liam Hudson I hope I'm not as bad!!! Haha ;)
I thought of gsp too !! Great accent !!
Brilliant clear explanation man! Thanks!
I really like your reviews. You have a new fan!
Very useful info, again. Thanks!
Your guitar sounds amazing
Nice review, loving the sounds
Superbe Demo, thank you, finally I got it! 👍
I don't like spring reverb because, after spring, you have to put it away until the next spring... he he
Timothy Buss Always the greatest puns ;)
Yes, I am proud to be part of the Monochrome Seasons video team. You do all the hard work creating the videos and then I come up with something funny to say and that's my part!
But very reliable however .. as it will always bounce back :-)
It also gives you a fever. Spring fever 😉
please stop
Great video Antione!
Very useful !! Thanks from Cannes (France) !!
Vas-y guitare Merci beaucoup de Montréal (Québec)
Quite usefull and simple presentation.
Thanks !!
The most useful reverb to me is the stereo reverb
Been playing 25 years and never knew lol. All I knew was my twin reverb had “ reverb” and it worked 😎
Excellent video, thanks very much.🎸🎶🌞🌞👍
Great video. I appreciate the explanations very much.
I really appreciate this, helping me with an audio class...Thanks for making this video!
Excellent! TY
Great explanation thanks
Awsome video, but can you explain which one you'd use for ambience?
Very clear and helpful! is it me or is the hall of fame sound better(easier on the wallet) :P
Hey man, well done! What Chords are you playing at 1:45 min ? (Basically the chords you are playing throughout the whole video) Would love to know :)
I think most of them are minor 11 or add9 chords. In another video he said he uses them in videos
Very nice video!
Really good and basic explanation and soiund examples - thanks a lot - thumbs up and sub well deserved ;-)
Very good explanation but, why do you have both pedals, surely one will do the job for all purposes?
I'm just trading some pedals now and then to try new things and make new pedal demos on my channel. Of course one or the other would be enough!
Wow thanks man thats very helpful
in a vst like the valhalla vintage verb, what parameter would represent the "body" that was the one concept I really could understand
Not 100% sure, but I reckon it'd be the "Shape" parameter (If I recall correctly, a reverb's shape affects both early reflections and diffusion of the sound, with lower values lending towards a more "open" reverb, and higher values lending towards a "tighter" one--to keep things brief).

Really useful!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Reverb tends to sound much better when applied after the speaker in the signal chain. Not practical in live situations but easy to do when recording
well done video
Thanks man!

Plate and hall for me
Great Bro !!!
great stuff duude! what riff were you playing?
Really good video! What are the chords you are playing?
at the start that is!
Which one do you recommend the most for jazz guitar?
I think Spring reverb would be the most common for jazz tones.
@@AntoineMichaudGuitar thanks!
The Hall of Fame is so much better, it's obvious ^^
Is it :))))?
Well explained …
Thanks for this! By the way, did you use a clean tone, or there’s a bit of overdrive?
Pretty clean! Maybe there was a tiny bit of breakup, but I usually set things up super clean.
Thanks for the quick response! Keep up the good work man!
“Vibrating shit” :)) Thanks, Antoine!
Haha :)
is this halloffame pedal the same Hof pedal?
perfect!!!
what tone of dist do you use?
Always prefer plate hall & room
Spring is a no no for me
love your accent :-)
Thought the HOF sounded best
KeithCanisius it's because of how he set them
BIG SKY OR BLUE SKY???
I compared them: ruclips.net/video/fVzzTg-TKRM/видео.html
That doesnt sound like spring reverb at all. You should do source audio true spring reverb
no more neunaber reverb?
handsomerube Of course, it's a keeper on my board! It's just because it didn't have all the types of reverbs I needed that I changed it for the Hall of Fame for this video.
But then I went back to bone my girlfriend, but the mosquitos were crazy and she said there was no way.
HOF 👍
would be better if it was clean guitar :/
