As an American, some of these make complete and total sense. "Rank" can be used exactly the same way here, it's just uncommon, and "wee bit" I think most people would know just means "a little". Or "bevvy" as short for "beverage". Even something like "gaun yersel'"; I'd probably be very confused in the moment, but it is just saying "go on yourself" with a Scottish accent, which is a bit like "go on with your bad self" -- a phrase many Americans would get -- so it makes sense. But "gettin' the messages" -- that one cracked me up🤣 I loved the explanation too. And I'd never have guessed "jobby" in a million years.
He was amazing in Law Abiding Citizen...One of my most favorite movies. I'm always so impressed by actors who can totally drop their own accent for whatever role they are playing. Like HOW?? Just remembering the damned lines is tough enough, & then you gotta not talk like you normally do? Forget it. It's no wonder why actors bring in the big bucks! And I gotta say it... Gerard Butler is HOT.

"O'right potatoes, o'right carrots, o'right turpentine" help pls 😭😂😂
What is turpentine ??
@@Lalaru93 ;D*
It takes paint of your hands is all I remember. People used to use it when painting houses. It stinks!
@@Lalaru93 also used for oil painting i believe
@@Lalaru93 It's a solvent.
Gerard Butler, Phantom 😘
You age so fine. 👌🏻
Ruizu
Agreed 😍
Yep, I too agree!
actually the first time i saw him was in Dracula 2001. and now i have watched all the movies he is in
Is this like a secret episode of Outlander or..
i watch this thinking in Outlander
Yes lmao
Spent a few months in Glasgow in my early 20's, took me almost that long to figure out what they were saying lol. I used to think it was odd being called "Hen" by total strangers, but I miss it now. Is very endearing.
Yes it is very endearing .
Yer welcome back anytime hen.
Hello gorgeous!!
Hope all is well??
This guy has starred in some of the most entertaining movies ever.
He deserves his success.
I had no idea Gerard Butler was so frickin hilarious lmao 😂 This was definitely entertaining
He's accent is different in the films ain't it?
You have to watch his chat show interviews he’s a pretty silly dude.
love Gerard Butler
Gerard Butter
❤ how the Scottish speak! So melodious to my ear!
It's really a beautiful extension of the language, as is the Irish in my humble opinion. I'm a 5th generation American, but extremely proud of my British, Scottish, and Irish heritage (and a little Welsh too, ;-).
@@gabbyhayes1568 All the accents and melodic tones of those countries are just more pleasing to my ear than American english....though it is fun listening to a Bostonian 😊
One of the coolest least comprehensible accents along with irish.
Tibbs142 they aren't that hard. Americans use all sorts of crooked eyed terms for things too.
Lauren Sullivan Just listen to a glasgow accent and you’ll change ur mind. Gerard’s lost alot of his accent by the sounds of it
Irish is a snap compared to Scottish (to understand).
@@Jamie-kv9eg Weak compared to the North. It's a whole other language up in Inverness area
I'm the only person who understands both and can tell the difference.
I worked in overseas with many Scotts and I must say they were very friendly and easy going compared to English or French.. I just had a little problem at the beggining with their accent but I could catch it in few weeks, nice people really for drinking..
When Gerry Butler says your name is his favourite Scottish word! 💕💕👍🏻👍🏻
Hello thanks for your love and support
The amount of charisma he has is through the roof.
gerard butler plays so many americans in movies this is probably the first time i’ve actually heard him talk in his scottish accent
Ahhh, the delightful Mr Butler... I could happily listen to him reading out the entire telephone directory all day and night... Sigh...
Lucy Tustian hahaha best comment!
He seems like a fun guy to have a beer with
Effy and Koda Every Scot is fun to have a beer with. Until they drink you under the table!
That's only because you're all light weights 😜
Killer Funghoul You’re not wrong! Americans are improving tho! Our consumption has gone up a little bit in the last few years😜
Omg I drank with a scotish costumer a week ago and I have never laughed so much when he told me I was steamed.
Raymond Melendez it’s steaming or steamin. another popular one is buckled, as in ‘ah wiz oot last weekend and goat absolutely buckled’ 🏴🏴
Love hear Scottish talk . ❤
*I'm killing my career one moment at a time yes you r sir* 😂😂😂
Surely that would be starring in the .....Fallen trilogy. He's actually great fun in this though
Now I understand outlander way much better
Sophia Perez lmao
Raise you hand if you are here after watching "outlander" . Love the scottish accent and scottish men lol
Beyond the law

I am always clueless whether it is your unconditional love, care or support that I should show gratitude of. Which one should come first? Thanks for being the love and support you have shown me over time. you can contact me on WhatsApp on +1(213)320-5770.
Yes dear you’re right I am happy being a Scottish...nice to hear that please free feel to inbox me on my email address when you want to Okay I really appreciate you as my real fans dear butlergrerad139@gmail.com
TONIGHT .. WE DINE .. IN EDINBURGH!!!
Bader SCRAN!!!!
Tonight wee dine in onthank !!
Embra 😂
Haha down south in Edinburg sounds a bit more posh I like Glasgow 😄
🤣🤣🤣
You have no idea how many times I've watched this.
I love how his shopping list is potatoes, carrots and turpentine.
My mom and dad visited the U.K. 30 years ago. They said the English were snooty, but the Scots were so warm and friendly.
Uterus status: currently screaming at me
Feel ya sis lol
1 year later and still sameeee
I’m Scottish and I love watching these coz they’re proper funny 😂
Him: Tatties
Me: oh I know this one, tattoos!
Him: potatoes
Edit: thanks for all the likes, I’ve never gotten so many 💙💙
Aye my granny always said tatties or purdies
It's really no the hard
Lol I thought titis
But it's so obvious.
The Irish... It's taytos
Hello Darlene, I guess you enjoyed this show of Gerald ? It’s lovely
Hi darlene
How are you doing?
Scottland is Bonnie, can't wait to visit again. So green 😊👍 Ireland is also beautiful.
Loved this, made me homesick.. Well done Gerard.
LGCY Virius think he is great
Gotta do one of these with David Tennant!
I smiled through that whole video, it was just so enjoyable to watch. Love Gerard Butler very underrated actor
Hello gorgeous!!
Hope all is well?
Gerard Butler gets better looking with age and I love the accent.
I'm in a Scottish high school and I'm the only English girl in my class and some ppl don't understand what I'm talking about but welp, that's life.
Show them this video so they don't think yer bum's oot the windae...
Did you speak "clear" english or something like cockney?
@@IronIck45 I just tried hard to be funny, somehow.
@@IronIck45 yea
Hahhaaa is it cause they think you're a cow?
I'm Scottish its awesome, cause people always say, "ArE yOu BrItTiSh?"
Were not brittish, were AWESOME.
Angry Scottish Person. Well, idk wat to tell ya mate
Also as a Scottish person, I hate to break it to you but we are British 🤷🏻♀️
I never understand why Scottish people don’t like to be referred to as “British” because Scotland is a part of the British isles.
But it's part of Britain...
Most of the Scottish are proud to be British and this not means that they are traitors, they just think that Scottish and English can be brothers, even with their differences.
I just can't stop imagining Stoic the vast listening to his voice
Yea ik he's the voice actor.
He has a voice of angel. His songs in the Phantom Of The Opera had me goosebumps!
Not quite an angel, he tried but he's really not a good singer. But sometimes he's a good actor :)

@@SpockLover27 yeah but he's good in bed

Same here
Do you support Rangers???
+Robocop 2808
Which area?
It' s so funny hearing all of these phrases as a fellow Scot who uses the majority of them and realising how much people seem to like them.
