    So glad I had the chance center to rode this a few times. I absolutely loved it. I live wooden coasters. However the older I get (and them too) I'm finding my body can take less and less. Such a same... I've always found wooden to be the most thrilling. This was one of my favorites

  • @gregorymoore2877

    I rode it in 2000. I remember it being pretty rough. I also remember thinking that entire first curve was over the lake, but was disappointed to find that it only went over the lake a little bit. It was more fun to watch than to ride so I only rode once. I found Thunderhawk to be much more fun so I rode it many times.

  • @prettystevie

    I remember going on this a lot when I first started going on coasters and man, did it bounce around. I felt beat up by the time it was over but I kept going on it anyway. That coaster was so rickety and like another poster said, it was really bad at the bottom of the first hill around that bend.

  • @rubinwilson3426
    @rubinwilson3426 8 месяцев назад +2

    I rode Hercules when it was newer and I was younger. So had no issues with a rough ride. It was one of my favorites at the time. It’s funny how coasters have evolved since then. A 151 drop is nothing currently.

    • @mofodante89
      @mofodante89 8 месяцев назад +2

      When considering all the different types of coasters yes, but compared to wood coasters this is not an accurate statement. If Hercules were standing today it would still contain one of the top 6 tallest drops on a wooden rollercoaster in the world.

    • @Kyle_The_Mighty
      @Kyle_The_Mighty 3 дня назад

      The ride wasn’t rough when it opened. Or at least not *that* rough. Once it started getting rough though it went downhill quickly

  • @jeffreyschwartz7901
    @jeffreyschwartz7901 11 лет назад +6

    It was rough, but the layout was well designed. Definitely doable twice per visit.

  • @AceAviations2
    @AceAviations2 11 лет назад +4

    The layout looked pretty good, and by that I mean the layout, not the experience as from all accounts it was good when it was new, too bad that they tore it down in 03' as this may have made a kickass RMC iron horse, steepen the drop, turn the hill at 0:44 into a barrel roll (have it enter into the flat section), and have a lower and faster paced end section (1:02 to 1:27), and you could have a ride that might possibly rival NTG, but that's just what I think,

    There was a taco stand across the midway from Hercules. The challenge was to buy a taco, get on the ride, then eat the taco during the ride. So much fun and more or less impossible to do on Hydra.

    Remember this ride back when Steel Force had its grand opening (SF is still in my top 5). Hercules was by far the most painful wooden coaster I've been on because of that steep turn on the bottom of that first drop. What were they thinking?!

  • @Cmikus01
    @Cmikus01 8 месяцев назад +1

    This thing was a menace. Everyone came off feeling beaten, broken and with hurt backs. I rode it one and it ruined my day and the next several weeks. That's why it was torn down so soon. Steel force was like a smooth ride on ice. This thing was a monstrosity.

    • @RB01.10
      @RB01.10 4 месяца назад

      That makes sense as to why it only stood for 14 years which for a roller coaster is pretty short lived.
      Also, I heard it had very poor attendance in its final years which didn’t help either.

  • @xtlm
    @xtlm 12 дней назад

    Are you sure you want to completely demolish Wooden Coaster 2?

  • @steveschappell8374
    @steveschappell8374 8 месяцев назад +2

    Ah. Good ole Hurt your Knees. Great ride when it opened. And then over time it became too rough to ride, even after retracting several sections. A trim brake was even added before the first drop to help slow it down.

    • @RB01.10
      @RB01.10 4 месяца назад

      That’s also why it was demolished.
      In its final years, it had very low ridership and the negative reputation (and apparently too high of maintenance costs) made the park get rid of it.

  • @TheRCTAddict
    @TheRCTAddict 11 лет назад +1

    It depends on the situation. Some coasters are left to rot on the abandoned park property (Chippewa Lake Park in Ohio is an example), while others are dismantled for scrap to make room for new development, and may be moved to another park (as with Chang from the now-defunct Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, which was moved to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and rethemed as Green Lantern)

  • @dchang11
    @dchang11 11 лет назад +1

    the park kept thunderhawk because its a classic woodie. (excuse the sexual reference). thunderhawk is a smooth coaster. Hercules was once a smooth ride but some mechanical modifications in the 90s screwed up the ride.

    I got to ride this at least 5-6 times every year when we would go for a company picnic for the company my father worked for. Yeah it was a little rough, but for a wooden coaster, it FLEW. This thing was crazy fast. I agree that with yearly upkeep it would still be there today and still be a east, but fun. If I remember right I believe it hit 65 or 70 MPH and for a Wooden, that is just unreal.

    This coaster did nothing. After the first drop it's a series of straightaways, slow turns, no air time. It's as though it were designed by someone who had never ridden a coaster.
