    If RMC ever does a ground up SOB, they absolutely need to include the vertical loop.

    • @BurgerInATux
      @BurgerInATux Год назад +7

      I hope not, a vertical loop is very basic and would only be there for the throwback to SOB, it would be a waste of space in comparison of what element(s) could replace said vertical loop

    I really hope KI does a ground up RMC for SOB. Since it’s a hybrid coaster, they can play the theming into a Cyborg Son of Beast. A mad scientist bringing back The dead beast. The scientist loses control of the beast and is loose in the park/woods! However the problems I see is, Steel vengeance to the north and the relationship CF has with RMC.

    Not gonna lie, even though a lot of people think that Son of Beast should’ve been RMD’d, I think that rolling thunder at great adventure would’ve been a better option as it could’ve been a dueling coaster and image having a dueling RMC and a world class intamin pre fab right next to each other.

      @@kevinthompson6986 Thunder Road wasn't axed because it was a bad coaster. It was axed because it was in the way of a water park expansion (which sadly does make sense, since Charlotte is very much a warm weather city, and does get very hot in the summer). It had the feel of a "we didn't want to do this, but we had to" decision. They probably would have axed Hurler if they'd had the choice, but the problem was that the water park area was in the southern section of the park, where Thunder Road was, and Hurler was nowhere near it.

  • @alexv3375
    @alexv3375 Год назад +18

    For another Honourable Mention, I think *The Ultimate* at Lightwater Valley in the UK (which the new owners basically left to rot, then tore down unceremoniously for a laugh) would have made a phenomenal RMC conversion. With all the twisting ground-hugging sections and the speed it had, giving it things like inversions and maybe even replacing the old chain lifts with launches (the second one being into a Zero-G Roll at the crest, ala The Incredible Hulk at Islands Of Adventure) would've made it a world-class ride. Sadly, thanks to the massive double-middle finger the scumbags who now own the park threw at it and its fans (IE. stripping out everything that made the park iconic and having it now literally only cater to babies), we'll never know.

    These coasters would've been EPIC as RMC coasters, but especially Thunder Road, Rolling Thunder, and Cheetah. Thunder Road also had an appearance in a 1970s Hardee's commercial advertising them giving free tickets to Carowinds [WARNING: SONG WILL GET STUCK IN YOUR HEAD IF YOU WATCH THE AD]. Rolling Thunder would've made a great RMC, but Six Flags just had to go with the drop towers on a ride that was already thrilling. What even is the point of having drop towers on a ROLLER COASTER? Though disrespecting their coaster history isn't the only frustrating things Six Flags does, the most frustating thing they do IMO, is dropping the unique characters they had pre-Looney Tunes. I understand Six Flags Over Georgia having to lose their characters [for obvious reasons 🥶], but I wish that Astroworld and Great Adventure could've kept theirs, they were so cool and unique.

    Here's my anecdotal story. I ran into Don Helbig in October 2011 and brought up Son of Beast during our chat. New Texas Giant was a hit and I asked if KI was looking into manufacturers to overhaul SoB. He said all the options they looked at up to that point were too expensive and would be the same cost as a large scale coaster. I believe they already invested 30 million into SoB at that point. Don said the structure needed a lot of work and they saw the flaws during construction. He said they were still looking at other options and KI really wanted to get SoB running again if the price was right. SoB met its demise the following year. Unfortunately RMC wasn't in the picture due to cost and KI went with Banshee instead. It's too bad because RMC could have turned SoB into a crazy ride.

Basically, they were too afraid to operate that ride again because of how bad of a reputation it got with the media and the park guests. That's unfortunate because that would've been the perfect candidate for an RMC redo, and I think we could easily say the same thing about any ride from the Roller Coaster Corporation of America for that matter.

    I didn’t know that the structure of rolling thunder was not good enough for the rmc treatment. I always got so angry they get rude of that ride for a drip tower queue ! Would have been amazing to have any rmc there

    Buy or Sell: Cedar Fair is waiting for GCI with their IBox track to be perfected, to build a new SOB at Kings Island. Solidifying GCI as a direct competitor to RMC.
    Cedar Fair still hasn't warmed back up to RMC. But, they do love GCI.

    I don't think this counts as defunct, but Magnus Colossus is a sbno rcca in spain that uses the terrain. They could make a killer rmc hybrid like Iron rattler.

    While Cheetah at wild adventures definitely was at a park that would never get something like an rmc, i do wish it lasted longer. It would have definitely gotten the titan track treatment. Cheetah has a lot of meaning to me as it was the first wooden coaster ive ever ridden, and one at my home park. It wasnt anything special or spectacular but i still miss it. It did have a nice setting too and looked really good within the parks skyline.
    Tl;Dr in my heart it should have been rmced, in a realistic sense it should have just stayed around and recieve the titan track treatment. I mean if michigans adventure could get titan track then cheetah certainly could have. Maybe if the pandemic didnt happen it would still be around.

    I visited Boomers on my big family vacation to Florida to celebrate my high school graduation back in 2015. Thanks to this video I just learned it’s gone. I knew the story of the coaster when I was visiting but I had no idea it’s gone until 8 years after I went there

    I don’t know how an RMC Rolling Thunder would have worked out but it would have been better to have half of something than nothing at all. In a world where Rolling Thunder was once a coaster with no inversions in a park that was once inversion crazy, it would have been interesting to have “Iron Thunder” be one of few coasters with inversions in a park with lots of stand out coasters with no inversions.

    Hear me out on this one. Judge Roy Scream at SFOT. From what I understand there is some sort of stipulation with the city of Arlington that the coaster can not be torn down but that could be bypassed by being retracked and reprofiled a la RMC? It could have an awesome out and back lay out similar to Arieforce One. Also, SFOT is in dire need of a new coaster, has little to no room, and wouldn't it be cool if the park with the first RMC could get a second one that's more modern and improved?
