Everything I thought about Six Flags Over Georgia was wrong

- On my trip at Atlanta, I spent a couple days at Six Flags Over Georgia, my first time really experiencing the full park in 4-5 years, and I found a lot of my opinions getting turned on their head.

SFOG is my home park, and I've been pleasantly surprised with how it's been this year. It's definitely improved compared to previous years, and hope it continues to get better as time passes!
If only they could get more trains running on the rides
@@sdoogan90 whenever I've been this year pretty much all the rides have been running 2 trains, except for Goliath. I have no clue what's going on with that ride
@@illumynarty I was told by a ride op early in the year that there was an incident involving the second train and for safety they decided to only run 1 train all season
Goliath ran 2 trains this past Saturday. Blue Hawk is still running only 1 train
@@illumynartyGoliath was back to two trains and so I rode it about a dozen times on 6/30.
SFOG: Excellent lineup of rides…however…way too many of the employees:
A) don’t seem to like their jobs
B) seem to want to make sure the guests know they don’t like their jobs
C) seem to want to make sure the guests know they don’t like the guests.
EXACTLY, worst employees ever
That and the operations are what keep me away.
You're not wrong, you just gotta navigate the most apathetic ones. I have the worst time with the food service, seems like I have to guess what's going on and I'm lucky to get any kind of verbal interaction at all
Yeah, our local animal population in Georgia has gotten way outta hand. They're not good for much. 😉
I couldn't agree more - I take my kids there often and I always leave w the same feeling.. great rides but the employees do not want to be there...and you can feelnthat energy...
One of my parents favorite stories to tell when we are at sixflags is the time I rode Great American Scream Machine, when it was extremely rough, walked over to ninja. Rode Ninja and immediately walked into a pole leaving ninja. This is around 2010 to give you an idea of the state of six flags.
Must've been like two torture chambers one right after the other
Georgia cyclone from the same time period was my least favorite; i didn’t mind ninja too much, although my friends thought it was unbearable
NEW AIRTIME THRILLS VID LETS GO
You really slurping on him huh
Fanbots
Mindbender was my first serious coaster so it is awful how they have neutered it with the short trains. I’m glad I’ve got Shockwave now here at SFOT
Yeah, I really don't get why they did this. The ride was far better the way it was.
With all my trips to SFOG, I have learned, that if a ride breaks down, go nowhere, they will get it running within minutes. I've been in line several times in a bunch of rides that broke down and everyone left except a few of us, and we were riding no problems in 15 mins or less. They're pretty good about getting back up and running.
You people are the biggest embarrassment any Hobby
AGREE!!!!!
Fun fact: When Georgia Cyclone opened in around 1990 or so(I think) at the top of the lift hill, they have a sign that said Georgia Cyclone: The most a coaster can Beeeeeeee..... And the word "Beeeeeeee" was stretched out like it was going over the lift hill. It was only up there a few years.
How could you go to Over Georgia and not ride the best ride in the park… Monster Mansion
In my defense it was closed
I'm so glad that Great American Scream Machine rode better for you too. That ride has come so far for me. It has been a true redemption, from my least favorite coaster to top 25%. That entire park keeps getting better every time I visit.
Six Flags Over Georgia doesn't nearly receive as much attention as other Six Flags chain parks do. And its upsetting to me. It is my home park and I go almost every weekend. The coaster lineup is quite great, including an RMC (definitely not as good as its predecessor, but its ok), a B&M hyper coaster, the unique Dare Devil Dive, a classic and a once-groundbreaking wooden coaster, a flying coaster, an inverted coaster, a vekoma super looper, a B&M stand up (pretty rare and rarely a smooth and enjoyable ride), and some good flat rides. This park delivers and its extremely underrated. It needs and deserves more attention. Its one of the best in the chain, and by far the cleanest and safest park.
It's because, believe it or NOT like original SFoTX. NOT owned by Six Flags Corp. They have FIGHT for what they want. St Louis was last one built by Flags, but SF owns that one. Also NOT a Duell designed park.
Yeah, Carowinds is my home park but SFOG is kinda my second home park and it is very underrated IMO. Goliath is my favorite B&M hyper, even over Mako and Diamondback.
SFOG is known for their horrible employees and their terrible attitudes. They make a very good park, less than great. To say the least. We should all write emails and complain. If they hear from enough people, maybe they'll fix it. 🤷🏻
@@dextermorgan1 I do send emails frequently. Especially complaints about white water. My god that place is a dump hole.
@@michaeltaylor1603 Six Flags over Georgia was the second park built by Six Flags Corporation. They only built three of them (Six Flags over Texas, Six Flags over Georgia, and Six Flags Mid-America (now called Six Flags St. Louis).
I rode Twisted Cyclone in the back row for the first time today. Thank you for converting to the school of airtime. Best ride I've ever had on that roller coaster, hands down!
Awesome vlog! Thanks for bringing us along and for the honest reviews!
By far my favorite channel to watch
I scream yahooo when a new video comes out!
Great video as always. I’ve never been to SFOG and I hope to get there while down there for Arieforce One! Gotta get them RMC’s!!
I’m going to Over Georgia tomorrow for the first time so hearing your thoughts on the park makes me more excited to ride these rises
I love these park videos !! Keep up the good work man 👍👍
hey! over georgia enthusiast here. glad you really liked it! i’m sad you didn’t get to ride goliath tho. it’s terrific. really love your channel! keep it up!
also, i wonder will you rank sfogs coasters again after the rerides? or maybe just all the coasters in georgia (i suppose you haven’t gone to wild adventures or lake winnie though)
I remember all!! I have ridden every coaster, well ride, since the beginning. Even folded myself into the kiddie rides when my kids were little. Had a pass from 1980 until the club membership started, then had a membership with the food package until 2 years ago. Have had many multi ride adventures on most of the coasters ever there. Stayed on Mindbender for 37 loops, Goliath-26, Viper-22, SM-19 and the mine train for 2 1/2 hours. Had friends that worked the coaster, it was a dead fall night, and they thought it would be funny to just leave us on it until close. Only running 1 train, they barely slowed us going through the station! No computer safety controls back then.
Really enjoyed this video! I am going for the first time this year this Saturday for the ACE event. I am excited to meet some fellow enthusiast and I like seeing Scream Machine running well. I also have it as my 5th worst coaster I have ever been on. It seems like that will change
SFOG is my home park, and I went 4 or 5 times last year and was decently surprised at how the rides were running and how much of the park had improved. Haven't made it back yet this year due to the crazy Georgia weather but hopefully will soon.
Love your vids bro! I also got a zen-ride on Diamondback at Kings Island earlier this month
I got a zen ride on Afterburn a week ago from today
SFOG used to be my home park and I’m glad you had a good experience there. It has so much potential. I have always loved Georgia Scorcher - was happy to see you change your tune. Goliath is a TOP TIER hyper. Twisted Cyclone is hit or miss but when it’s hauling it is amazing. Amazing Batman clone, best Superman Ultimate Flight out there. Blue Hawk is a unique fun experience and now that Scream Machine isn’t giving people back problems it’s a damn good ride.
It’s sad what they did to Mind Bender, and I feel Dare Devil Dive is pretty weak, not to mention terrible capacity. Man if Deja Vu was still there that would one hell of a coaster lineup
Deja Vu was closed literally every time I went to Six Flags
It's not a coaster but Monster Mansion is a great ride too.
I went to Over Georgia for the first time in March and I was very impressed! I missed Acrophobia and a few other rides but got to ride all the coasters and both dark rides.
of course i miss seeing you by 1 flipping week. i was there june 4 with similar weather issues. day started with overcast skies, and the park was pretty quiet. got my 1st ride on twisted colossus, and now i love rmc coasters. that lead to 2 more laps before heading to scorcher. what ever they did to keep it good pass that onto carowinds for vortex. didn't get to ride dare devil b/c sadly i was a little to large for the restraint to close which would be a recurring theme my entire vacation. did batman for credit 85, and decided on a 2nd lap where i apparently almost grayed out. later i got credit 90 with superman, and this was the only ride in the park running 1 train. every other coaster had 2 trains, but superman just 1. that pretzel loop is a fierce little beast. didn't ride Goliath sadly (fear of heights kicked in) so went back to twisted, and lapped it 5 times in the back. by then the sun had come out, and twisted was hauling so fast on my 5 rides.
Twisted colossus at sfog my favorite
Our opinions usually align… But this time they aligned completely. Everything you said, I agree with. With Great, American Scream machine, DDD, Scorcher, and MindBender. I agree with you 100% on the whole thing.
Twisted Cyclone is easily the most underrated RMC based on my one ride I’ve had in the back row last month.
I dunno it may be but I just rode Iron Gwazi this week and I am seriously impressed with how good it was.
@@ashleighelizabeth5916 pretty much everyone has Gwazi at #1 or #2 RMC in North America. Kind of hard for it to be UNDERRATED
Nah joker is the most underrated
Joker's more underrated. That RMC gets trashed on by a lot of thoosies
Good video! We just got back from Cedar Point and had a wonderful time! We are looking for a shorter trip to a park with good Rollercoasters. We live in Middle Tennessee so it’s either SFOG, Holiday World or Dollywood. My wife and I have to be to SFOG, but my kids haven’t. I went as recently as 2019 and it was pretty good. I think we are going to go to SFOG. Any tips of what rides to hit first? We may try to stay away from a weekend day.
Hit dare devil first the line gets crazy. Goliath and twisted cyclone are the top 2. Scream machine Batman Superman and mind bender are all very good coasters and scorcher is....well a stand up. And we don’t talk about blue hawk.
Was planning on visiting in July for the first time on my birthday. Usually go to Carowinds. Can't wait to visit.
Hey Chris do you have plans to go to Orlando this summer? My mom is thinking about taking us somewhere we don’t have to fly xD
Love the incorporation of memes into your videos
It was cool running into you at SFOG that Sunday. Hoping we’ll catch a ride at SFSTL this summer
No fair I wanna meet him😢
@@hello5513 hope you get to meet him soon as well. He’s a really nice guy
I really want to visit this park, there’s so much about it I like, the lineup looks awesome and there’s so many types of experiences. The weather would also be so nice. Maybe I’ll go soon!
Went there twice in the same year, July 3rd (literally on a weekend day before the 4th of July) and Sometime in December. Both times I loved every moment. All the coasters were walk-ons, Goliath was BLISS, rode Batman 3x in a row, food was good, GASM was not bad, TC was amazing, everything on both those days was great...even both times being half dead. Would like to go back again!!
I saw you there that day but I didn’t say anything 😔. Anyway, my home park is Busch gardens Williamsburg so I hope I see you there!
I gotta say, that intro was AMAZING
I did not know that you stand up on acrophobia when I was a kid. Its a good thing we ran out of time and I didn't ride it becuase I would have had a nasty surprise there lol. It looks so tiny compared to the Kings Island drop tower so we didnt really care about it lol
Buy or sell: if shivering Timbers gets rmc is it in your top5?
Love the intro!
I only went there 4 years ago! It's crazy they didn't get anything overly new since then.
Did you ever get to do Monster Mansion? Very underrated and charming dark ride that would feel at home in a Disney Park.
I love that ride. My daughter and I laughed so hard at the crazy tonal shift halfway through.
What did you think of Georgia Scorcher's wave turn?
I haven't rode Twisted Cyclone, but when it was Georgia Cyclone, it was the roughest coaster in the park.
Its called, Mine the mine train, love it
Thats absolutely the part of the trip that makes me laugh the most
Gotta love when airtime thrills uploads
I see that Goliath was still running one train like it was when i was down there in May. I think you also stayed in the same hotel as i did as well
That was the best intro to a video yet!!!
my biggest issue with 6 flags over Georgia is how many rides break. Ive gone around 4 times since the pandemic and every time at least 2 - 3 main rollercoaster rides were down for maintenance or had broken down
Best intro ever
I've been to the park 5 times this year and Pandemonium hasn't been open on any of the days I've gone. Wonder what's wrong with it.
I had a similar impression, except liking Mindbender more than you did and getting to ride Goliath (first visit a couple weeks ago). Dare Devil Dive is now my least favorite coaster that I haven’t ridden, cause it’s wasted more of my time than any ride I could remember with its slow moving line followed by breakdowns (tried to hit it immediately but nope it was broken then too)
Its insane how much that thing breaks down
@@AirtimeThrillsthey should rename it to Dare Devil Downtime
I still choose the stand up Mantis instead of Rougarou. I’d love for cedar point to bring it back or better yet the new surf trains
They retracked a large portion of Scream Machine last year, delayed the opening but it's not horrendous now
1:52 they re-used the entire old Thomas Town/Whistestop Park just for the plaza of one flat ride?
The knew king of jack hammer older coasters was Judge Roy Scream. Rode that a couple weeks ago, and it was so much rougher than GASM! Also, the single train ops seem to be the park’s MO this summer.
Six Flags seems to have a history of not taking good care of the older woodies.
@@derekp308 they don't seem to take care of any of their rides, just look at Twisted Cyclone is
The Monster Mansion neglect
now I'm curious, have you ever seen Jon Bois' episode of Pretty Good about 24? shit can change a person.
Awesome! Vlog Gerat Comidic Editing
good vid, your jokes had me laughing
Just left from there attending a coaster club event there and the previous night at fun spot Atlanta.
The Boss is probably the King of rough wooden coasters, went on it two weeks ago and was blown away by how rough it was
It is astounding how bad they let it get. I'll be there this weekend to try and break my neck
@Shredxcam22 I only did front row, definetly worth one ride, but try it towards the end of the day, it's not worth ruining the whole day
Im gonna ride it again soon and am morbidly curious
@@AirtimeThrills prayers sent. I'm suprised we havnt seen any major incidents from it.
Roar is pretty bad too. Grizzly was probably the worst in the country until they retracked it this year. I don't find Hades 360 to be rough but it's been a few years since I have been on it.
Also a fun quirk about SFOG I've noticed is that they always seem to be playing Danny Elfman's theme to Batman in the station for Superman: Ultimate Flight.
I’ve never been to six flags Georgia but I’ve always really wanted to visit and I’m also surprised you rank sfne over this park. Hot take your going to move Georgia over New England in the six flags park rankings. They have a great lineup and good supporting cast
Theyre really close but i think you're right
How does Twisted Cyclone compare to Arie Force?
i have been fond of mindbender ever since i rode it for the first time so far, it was my first looping coaster
wait did you not go last year? couldve sworn you said you were going after the bgw vlog but you werent vloging. or maybe im just crazy
I did but we were only there for about 2 hours and never went to the back of the park
6:05, what’s that timer called? I’ve been searching for that sound effect for a long while now
It's from a show called 24
You got me with the x files bit. Hahah
All that was missing from the “Previously On” was Lois slapping Meg cause Peter isn’t waking up from that coma! 😂😂😂
I did The Hurler at Carowinds this year, and that is the roughest coaster I have ever been on!
Really? It's in my home park and I find it boring but not rough.
Love to see ya rockin the Oklahoma hat
Q: What keeps Texas from falling into the Gulf of Mexico?
A: Oklahoma Sucks!
It has been a very long time since I've been to SFOG (back before Ga Cyclone became Twisted even) and after revisiting Sea World Orlando and Busch Gardens for the first time in 20 years I now realize that some of my impressions of the park may be dated.... That being said however:
1. Glad to hear you give some love to Georgia Scorcher finally but holy crap do I hope they put in Pipeline style trains on it some day!
2. Glad to hear you finally admit that Ninja, I mean Blue Hawk is still janky.
3. Agree that the new trains for Mindbender probably ruin it. RIP Mindbender you were one of my favorite coasters in the park.
4. Batman still sounds like Batman.
5. Still not going to talk me into riding GASM or any other woodie again. I'm too old for that stuff any more.
6. Superman still sounds good but I think Manta has pushed it out of my top 5 coasters.
7. After Iron Gwazi I'm seriously looking forward to riding other RMCs even if they don't measure up to the level of IG.
8. SFOG just wouldn't be SFOG without broken down rides or single train operations ( but hey I missed Montu and Sheikra because of closures this week too).
9. I seriously need to get to Fiesta Texas and SFOT sometime soon so I can try out Iron Rattler, Wonder Woman and New Texas Giant.
My wife and I had season's passes in 2010. We didn't have any kids at the time, so we drove from our home in Georgia out to Texas and took in both Six Flags over Texas and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. I liked the latter much more.
I just visited the park for the first time ever, and I had an absolute blast. Hope you had a good experience too! #just30SecondsInDon'tSpoil
I visited there for the first time last year in I think October. Great park
Haven't been to 6 Flags over GA since I was about 11.....I'm 58 now!😅...I think Scream Machine was just built at the time.... In any case....looking forward to my visit to the area next month. Glad the park is doing well. As an RMC fanatic my priority is Arie Force and then off to 6 Flags for Twisted Cyclone...
My 9 yr old sons first roller coaster was the twisted cyclone. It was about a week after you were there actually. He did great but I apologized to him for how intense it was because I remembered it being way more chill as kid but man was I wrong. I kept telling him no man it’s chill I promise lol. I felt so bad, like I lied to him. The redemption was he was ready to ride more afterwards so it wasn’t to bad I guess. I also lost my favorite Raybans on it.
I tapped out at 11 rides on afo. Its thigh crushing. Kill the quad down and add a final stall IMHO. Id like to try it with twisted timbers trains though...
W airtime thrills my home park is the best I always have to ride almost everything when I go the scream machine is awesome, the schorcher is awesome, and even the mindbender is kinda awesome. I love to see u love my home park!!!
Been going there my whole life. Scream Machine and Ninja were very fun but now that I'm approaching 30 I'd be scared to ride for the ass beating. Usually have to ride Batman about 5 times still the coolest
Georgia Scorcher is still my favorite B&M standup, even over Pipeline & Riddler's Revenge. Their Batman is also my favorit bat clone. I'm making back out to SFOG again and a first time to Fun Spot Atlanta this weekend! I hope Goliath is back on 2 train ops by then!
They're must be a trick to make that type of coaster run smoothly.
I just visited there a couple days back. Even though GASM rattled me to death (I rode in the front), Georgia Scorcher killed my privates and Goliath was closed, I absolutely loved everything else. Great park, all things considered.
I went to Magic Mountain yesterday and I never sat in the back, it was so much better now I agree with you that the front is nowhere near as good as the back.
Hey, Airtime. Do you like going to these parks by yourself over having your family there? I'm sure you love your family, no doubt about it, but I prefer to go to a ballgame by myself sometimes because there are no distractions. Just me and the game. It just seemed like you enjoyed all the coasters more because you could ride whatever you wanted, when and how you wanted without the worry about anybody else's feelings.
i think the update on cylcone is wicked, used to be pretty rough before the update
Airtime thrills: uploading a video about over Georgia
Me: watching while waiting for my first ride on steve
Also my head still hurts from staying on corlscrew at cedar point
Over Georgia to Chris: “PROVE PEOPLE WRONG SON!!!!!”
"NO GUM SPITTING," but then at 10:50 there's what looks like a white piece of gum center-screen on the platform! 😂
Six flags should definitely give viper at magic mountain the same trains as Blue hawk and new paint for its anniversary
King of rough wooden coasters = Montezum
Nothing like an old school RCCA to smash your ribs
I've still yet to go to any Six Flags park with all rollercoasters open 😢
Here’s the puddle strategy: sidewalk to railing - jump flip to Mindbender sign - 360 gainer back to the ground. Parkour! Parkour!
When are you going to Hershey for wildcats revenge?
You can tell they only run 1 train pretty often if they made a sign up for it.
My dream ATL Day, Over GA, plus Aerie, followed by seeing the darn Braves lose LIVE and in person.
Ahahah I love the 24 intro 😂
My two favourite things:
1. Rollercoasters
2. 24 (best show ever)
Biggest revelation: you keep your hotel thermostat at 77 in the summer 🥵
Fun Spot is TECHNICALLY my home park, distance-wise, but I would call SFOG my home park, I’ve been going there since September 2019.
SFOG was advertising for a new maintenance manager awhile back so I guess you may be seeing the results of that search?
Very well could be. I wish DDD wasnt so finnicky tho
If Kid Flash does light up and they make it both of his colors that’ll look really cool at night. The kids will love it
What's with the "24" styled intro 🤣Also, i've met a dude who has done 101 rides on ArieForce One in one day, idk how he did it
I was worried that you might have needed Amy to hold your hand on the train. Also, it is sad that the narrator didn’t refer to the mine train as the Dahlonega Mine Train. Maybe he was new
Mine the mine train lol😂
The coaster was retracked and got the old trains from Georgia cyclone.
I will die on the hill that Blue Hawk is one of the worst Rollercoasters ever made
