    Hey Nick, I would really like to make this but the only plain SS that I have is 20 g.,ss, D's. Do you think that would be ok to use for this ring? I think that if I twisted 2 together that would make it stronger. I think 20 gauge is about .81. I have square in it too. Good video, thanks for creating it!.

    • @Nickscreativestuff
      @Nickscreativestuff  2 года назад +1

      hi Carmen no harm in trying … surprising how small and delicate this can be made, i’ve not tried seeing how petite a heart I could make like this. I’m sure the heart could work really well with “D’ wire and attaching the band after the heart is finished is another versatile option. I tend to practice a lot with copper first to see what works and looks good before committing to silver. if I’m doing a hammered textured finish the soldered joints need to be good and strong with lots of annealing to bend nicely. I clean up any excess solder at the very end. hope this helps … cheers … Nick

    • @Nickscreativestuff
      @Nickscreativestuff  11 месяцев назад

      hi Phyllistine this short video … ruclips.net/user/shortsZmeNiQ3MVyg … from the early days shows a bit more detail of the holes in the wood. First starting with a scrap piece of copper wire I file and solder the centre joint. Then with a pair of round nose plies I bend and form the two top curved shapes of the heart crossing over the ends until I have a shape I’m happy with. Using this as a template I can decide what size pins I need to use and can mark the centres and drill the two pin holes. Now the template heart fits over the two first pins I can now mark the top hole used to wedge and keep the heart in place for when bending and the bottom hole used as a centre stop for the two tail ends … hope this helps … Nick
