  • Dec. 23rd, 2021. This was a rainy day, but we still managed to take advantage of a short weather window to do Angel's Landing in Zion National Park. Bonnie had never been up there before, so we thought this would be a good time to do it before the lottery permit system goes into effect.
The conditions were pretty icy and we didn't use micro spikes. I was actually pretty surprised to see everyone else using them because I assumed they wouldn't be allowed on the sandstone. I was obviously wrong. If anyone's planning to do it in similar conditions, micro spikes would be a good idea.

Why oh why would one attempt this hike with snow and ice conditions ? 🤦

Compared to what we're used to, this is actually a pretty easy hike. Even in slippery conditions it wasn't bad.

Is she had fallen, the response wold not have been “it was not that bad”. It probably would have been “it was not that bad. We don’t know what happened”.

They should really not allow ppl going up and coming down to do this at the same time. There’s hardly any space !

Not in those conditions without ice cleats, yak trax or some sort of crampons. That trail is dangerous enough under perfect conditions.
