I've just ordered one to now realise scalpers are grabbing all the modules so can't get them for £20 only ebay 60 70. So much bullshit these people are rats
Been using it for about a month now and it’s my favorite controller. It might take a few days to get used to the paddles but once it feels natural it feels so nice. The price is steep but there are plenty quality of life features that make it worth it imo.
Nice! I am glad you're liking it - the price is a lot but if you look at other pro controllers in this league - Xbxo Elite 2 or SCUF they are all in that ball park OR more expensive and with a worse warranty.
Funny story. I used to hate controllers, when i went to pc, because it wasn't as comfortable as a mouse and keyboard, and i could never grip. When sony released the dualsense, ans the steam deck came out I was like wow.... that fits perfectly in my hands :) plus the gyro as a mouse, huge win with the touchpad.
I was so against this controller at first just because of the price, but after having one it is definitely worth it. I like you can change out the joysticks and go buy them as well instead of having to buy a new controller like the regular dual sense. It feels better in the hand for me. Those back paddles are cool and I have set mine based of what game I would be playing. Now the battery does go quick, at least imo, but not a problem. Being able to adjust the triggers is another plus for me. Playing FPS has gotten easier for me and playing all other games I set triggers accordingly. I love the controller and hopefully they will bring it in different colors. I keep this as a main and my dual sense as a back up or something the kids can use if they want to play.
You said it feels better in the hand for you. I can see the Edge is shaped slightly differently than the standard Dualsense. Does this make a difference for you?
I get the clunky triggers on the regular controller as well. I don’t spend too much time gaming but I didn’t want to have to buy a controller again so I went with the edge. Should be getting dropped at the door any minute now. Great video!
Thank you Anthony - I think you've made a good choice. I have played with 7 or 8 different pro controllers and despite its flaws the Edge is my go to all the time now.
My same issue. Wasnt worth spending oretty much $80 for that controller to break soon again. Trying this out. Used to have the astro so i hope the official thing is just as good or better
I also own the Hex Rival and Ultimate controller as well as Battle Beaver and really like those but the Dualsense Edge looks like a must-buy. It's got more features than those have and I love the aesthetic😊
@@iamthegamingnerd I don't mind the backbones one trick I use to prevent me from tapping them is put a thin piece of bubble wrap underneath it. It cushions it when I don't need to use it. Try it
Nice vid, straight to the point, no clickbait. Like deserved. Can't decide between edge or scuff, playing ranked warzone, wanna jump and slide, without disrupting my aim, got annoyed by others who aims and jumps like crazy at the same time. Which would you go for?
I've never used a scuff so I can't comment sadly. I always heard scuff are awful for quality control and also being one of the most expensive - they've not been at the top of my list for giving my money 😅
I hear you - I really do. But then I don't typically play for more than 5 hours and I have a charging dock near my TV - so I just place my controller back when I am done playing - so that it's permanently re-charged for next time.
Yeah, it is unfortunate. This is one of the reasons I always own multiple portable charging devices. I have 2 right now. So I always have at least one portable ready to plug my controller into. They’re good to have for ur phone and stuff too if u go on a hike or ur just not close to any outlets for some reason. I’m kinda weird tho. I ALWAYS carry a backpack with me everywhere I go that has portable chargers, pocket knives, lighters, face masks (ever since the coocoo virus), Ibuprofen (just in case), etc etc. lol Edit: taking Ibuprofen is extremely rare for me tho, bc I used to be a drug addict and now have extreme guilt if I take anything for pain 😅
@@Brad-ut1ro Hey never hurts to be prepared lol. I feel you on the painkillers. I was addicted to painkillers a while back, so I very rarely take ibuprofen now. Well back to the video topic lol, the dpad on my ps5 controller doesn’t respond and I kinda don’t want to open it and mess anything up. So, I’ve never had a “pro” controller before but I think I’ll buy this Edge today.
@@Droop-e yeh, I hate that PS controllers r so weak. Seems like, in my experience anyway, something always goes wrong with them within the first 200 hours of use. Idk. Maybe asking for more than 200-300 hrs is having my expectations too high. But the things r $70 or so a pop, so I feel like they should be more dependable.
@@Brad-ut1ro No you’re right on that. After all these years of Sony making controllers, you think they would be everlasting for what we pay for. My ps5 controller came with stick drift out the box when I tried to sign in lol. I fixed it and honestly haven’t had problems and brought it to tournaments. But now the dpad is scuffed and I could fix it. But I’m also debating just upgrading to a Edge, to make that my main controller. My ps4 controller lasted me forever, it seems like, on my PC. But ofc Sony made it to where you can’t play ps5 games with a ps4 controller. I never even used haptic feedback and always turn off vibration lol.
I hope your channel gets the subscribers it deserves, this was such a great video to watch and listen to. Very informative and glad I found this channel, I have now subbed. Seriously great job! Glad I’m hear!
Had mine since release. No issues with my controller at all. Couple minor drops from my nephews but still solid (no slight rattles or anything.) Love the adjustable triggers and remapping paddles/changing settings. Only thing that would literally make it my favorite would be 4 paddles and a battery that lasts longer lol but still my go to for singleplayer and cod
I absolutely here you - I think the 4 paddles could be rectified by making the from buttons under the sticks remappable other than just being profile switches. They're a perfect new innovative placement for extra buttons.
“I’ve always admired the build quality of PlayStation controllers…”. Sorry man, imma have to cut you off there. Stick drift has plagued ps controllers for far too long. The elites swap out sticks still drift and are almost never in stock when you do need one. For the price ps needs to make the switch to hall sensors before I can say their “quality”. More like a recurring scam.
@@svn5510 subject opinion and your within your right to disagree. When I compare PS controllers vs Xbox in my experience - my PS controllers have lasted much longer - so thats why I have the opinion I have. There's also much to say about how accurate hall effect modules are ... So I'm not convinced there yet.
@@iamthegamingnerd Drift is an industry-wide scam, less crappy against crappier options does not equate to reliability and longevity. I'm on my fifth controller since I purchased my PS5, every single one of them succumbing to drift, and in no way am I a heavy gamer like I was in my youth. My two original PS4 controls stayed in working condition until I sold them when the PS5 arrived.
I mean every controller in the modern day have stick drift issues, my elite 2 is plagued with it and my switch pro has the same problem, even the rog ally needs replacement occasionally due to drift, it happens and is an industry issue not just a playstation issue
@@ZER0H0UR333 they're all expecting hall effects I think and anything less than that is expected a scam. Probably what it is - Sony can't get hall effect in mass. At a guess.
I have the DualSense Edge... My issue with the triggers aren't the clunky sound, but with the fact that when set to the shortest trigger stop setting you still have to press the trigger in quite some distance.
I've got an elite core, I would buy the dualsense edge if it was 50% off, £210 for a pretty marginal improvement on the regular dualsense is quite frankly ridiculous.
Great to finally see someone with a longer term usage review on Edge. Even better that it's from the UK :) I bought mine last week, mainly for COD on my PC. I love the build and the grip that the pattern provides. The paddles are great and I love the click mechanism. I previously used Sony's back button attachment and KontrolFreeks on a DS4. Only issue I found was that the sticks had ridiculous stick drift that before I updated the software. A minor gripe would be that I would have liked for the L2/R2 buttons to be a little more shallow for a quicker press. Overall, I think it's better than the Elite, as it has removable sticks whilst the Elite doesn't. The Elite also has major issues with faulty buttons and stick drift. Also, their rubber grip had a tendency to start falling off. Have you found any issues with stick drift as of yet? I don't think it was mentioned.
No issues with stick drift myself - no which is why I didn't mention it being a problem. And it's kind of a mute point because you can get replacements? 🤷♂️ ... and obviously everything is subjective but I don't actually like super shallow triggers - I have an aim controller that has mouse button triggers and I hate it - I like to FEEL the press to sync with my brain I have done something but, maybe that's just the boomer in me. 😂
@@iamthegamingnerd yes, of course the replacement option is great however I guess it just depends on how long they actually last. That £20 replacement price can then add up very quickly lol. It’s a shame they didn’t use Hall-Effect sticks. Maybe in the future. Ah fair enough, I haven’t tried yet with the shallower ones but I just heard good things.
That's why I mentioned the shallows weren't for me but they might be right for you. And I totally agree, replacement sticks isn't the solution when magnet designs exist but I guess I have to believe there's a reason for it logistically or cost wise?
How is it for pc gaming at the moment? I remember at launch it was very bad for connecting and not easy to simply connect and play having to run software, has this improved since launch? My friend returned his due to this
Let’s be real, The Xbox elite series 1/2 are the BEST “pro” model controllers, from the Control & the carrying case as well as accessories & battery life. I’ve had both Series 1 & 2 and have had ZERO issues with them besides my hand sweat causing the rubber gripping from the series one to loosen & peel off after 4 years. I also love having 4 paddles instead of 2 & the ability to tune each thumpstick to my liking. I do own a PS5 and the edge as well and love how it’s still feels like the original dualsense with all the 1st party features it has but having to always charge it so often, the noise the triggers make after a while as well as only having 2 paddles are some of the negatives but the positives out weigh those few negatives, as well as costing around $25 more than Xbox’s.
It's great that you've had a good experience with them but I had 5 and they all had bumpers break into a double click making them useless - I am yet to have this with the dualsense edge and so this review comes from my perspective right?
I also have had to warranty my elite controller twice the first time was due to extreme drift the second was an issue with the triggers and now my third one has a failing vibration motor and is now out of warranty so I just have to deal. Also I am a repair tech for computers, phones and small electronics and I have had to fix many of the elite controllers while not having many other pro controllers come in, they are by far not perfect, but they are solid
I love the old Donkey Kong Country music in the background while you talking about the controller. I do plan on getting it depends on how much money I need to save. But that can wait instead I plan getting the Starlight Blue Side panels for my PS5, aka "Twilight." Cause it'll be fathers day soon and I can't wait to celebrate with my dad.
From PlayStation on the internet. I managed to pay them extra so that the panels could come about a few days. Before I bought them, the price went down to at least $45.00. It's not expensive, but not cheap either. But we do need to keep this between us, please. We may not know each other. And if mom finds out we are talking, she will most likely keep me from talking to anyone she doesn't know. It was nice talking with you.
Thank you for mentioning that annoying clunky sound from the triggers. No one brings that up ever and it’s quite irritating. I’ve already gone through so many replacements and they all have the same issue eventually. It’s an issue with the build mechanism inside and I can only hope they can address it with future versions of the controller.
Funny enough though - it only happens when playing games with haptics and with the trigger stoppers set to minimal press. Guess it's just something to compromise on - I don't think haptics is built for competitive purposes anyway right?
@@iamthegamingnerd I think that when u put triger stops to the lowest that haptic feedback turns off automaticly, mine trigers sound clicky only when on shortest triger stop, and also without haptic feedback
It terms of ergonomics with paddles I think the Scuf prestige ps5 and Xbox series controllers perfected them. The biggest thing moving forward is quality control and input latency imo
You can overclock the controller 😁 ergonomics is always subjective though - hand size obviously playing the biggest factor. I haven't tried a SCUF always heard quality control issues and after my Elite Series 2 fiasco I've stayed clear.
I think it's worth it. It feels like what it is. A premium controller. Been using mine now for about a year and only recently started experiencing stick drift (left side as usual). Bought it mainly because you could easily swap out joysticks/modules that give stick drift but thing is now that I've started to experience stick drift and want to buy a replacement they are all out of stock for quite some time now with no new stock in sight and scalpers who are passing off imitation modules are offering them at 2-3 times the normal price of the genuine PS5 Edge module.

Bro I’ve had 2 duelsense in 6 months with stick drift issues. First was original model and second was the apparently updated version that ‘fixed problem’ so ya. I’m getting a lil annoyed at having to constantly send controllers back to Sony so there is no way I’m spending this kind of money on a edge version that use exactly same analog sticks.
After a year of heavy gaming with mine duelsence edge, it has more than paid for itself when compared to the regular ps5 controllers. I was wearing out a controller every 2-3 months. With the edge, I haven’t even had to swap out the stick modules yet. My only complaint is the rubber grip is starting to peel on the left hand side.
It's definitely game changing ... I have modded dualsense but the edge is just so much better. Battery life tho is horrid so buying a second one to swap em. 4 paddles would be worth an extra 50.
Absolutely hear you. The battery life is a pain in the arse - but comfortability and ergonomics it's the best hands down. The Victrix BFG comes close but I don't like not having rumble or haptics etc.
Great controller, about 5hrs from full charge, paddles are really good, trigger stops are great, only changed 1 stick module since I got it and at £20ea it isn’t really a problem. I’ve done about 800hrs on it so far I’d say, Highly recommended.
@@UnboxEnjoyer I’ve had no issues with the back paddles, although I’d consider holding off getting one at the moment as the replacement stick modules are virtually unobtainable….stocks seem to last a matter of hours to 1-2 days then they are unavailable again for months….search online about it, there’s scores of threads written about it with hundreds of people complaining about it, it’s a worldwide problem it seems…..very poor on Sonys part, funny though because the edge controllers seem readily available, there’s a lot of talk online of the replacement stick modules being held back purposely to force the sale of new replacements, I’d like to think this isn’t true but it doesn’t look good on Sonys behalf, the edge has been on sale for a good 1.5yrs now, that’s plenty of time to get a good stock of stick modules, being it’s literally the main reason people want to buy one. You can buy the modules on eBay, but they are about 2.5x the retail price. Damn scalpers. I’ve only just recently found out about the stick module shortage when I tried to get some spare ones last week.
so far so good. I used the extremerate rise modkit and due to my large fingers I struggled a lot to find a conformtable grip position which made my hands hurt after moderately long play sessions. With the edge I've felt way better
As cool as it is, I can’t justify the price tag no matter what. Heck, I can’t even justify spending $70 on a new normal controller, imo it’s a ridiculous price for a product that could break after a few matches on some competitive game (stick drift). Controller price vs. Durability is a major reason for me in making a transition to pc.
I dunno man, potentially a false hope there.. I've had £130 mice develop double clicks within 6 months. I don't think you're necessarily going to find an answer there to this particular issues. If you're struggling for costs ... hit up Fusion A for PC Gaming - I highly recommend them as a budget option for back paddles.
hey man, I love your review and I share the same thoughts! I was commenting to tell you that tonka mods has hall effect analog modules for the ds edge and now it's literally the best controller ever! also you should try out hypr controllers, I am rma'ing mine to get it redone and customized to the way I grip a controller cause the button configs are impossible for me to get used to. you can probably ask for a custom one and try it, anyways thanks for the review
considering but price tag is unreal... I bought 70EU DualSense (normal ver) after month got heavy stick drift... I had potentiometers replaced and month later again got the stick drift. Now but sticks got stick drift.... while my DS4 thats god knows how many years old (has been thrown, liquid spilled on etc....) works perfectly fine... so now wonder if try simply buying dualsense again and hope to not get stick drift.... or invest to edge and HOPE i wont have to switch sticks every month...
its cool but only 4 hrs of gameplay for battery life is a major letdown for me, my elite series 2 lasts 40 hrs in 1 charge, so i wont be getting one until playstation releases a new version with better battery
I've gone through 5 elite controllers that all had the same double activating bumper issue - so there's a major quality control there (least for me anyway)

Definitely worth it. Had it close to a year and my sticks still holding up strong
I cured the ergonomic problem with those buttons , on a regular dual sense I used double sided nano tape and stuck a blue tooth mouse. Program buttons how ever i want. Feels very natural
Just bought a Dual Sense edge today and i can confirm that the Edge is way more responsive than the Dual Sense. Im already pretty good at CoD bt this controller has taken my game to a different level. Imo the controller is definitely worth $200.
great controller, after 9months I thought I got stick drift.. even I changed the stick module I still had drift.. all my "scuff" controllers died 3-6months (mostly triggers) or backpadles. This controller is still usable even the drift on the left (yes I tried dead zones etc).
I’ve bought two high end controllers from Scuf and the inevitable ending of stick drift and having to buy a whole new controller because of one joystick was not ideal so this was a must buy for me
How are the face buttons after this amount of time using it? Are they still crisp? The edge felt that it was softer to push than the standard DualSense, but it might have been a design decision. Takes a bit of getting used to, but it worries me a bit regarding the durability of the membranes.
To be honest - most controllers membrane buttons feel a bit janky eh? I've had a few concerns with it but so far nothing to point out. They still press the same.
@@iamthegamingnerd Nice to know. I mean, you'd see boatloads of complains in forums regarding this "mushy" button, but I kind of feel like this is by design and it actually feels pretty good ergonomically as I've been using a much cheaper controller on PC (Gulikit) with way crisper buttons. They're what I used to be used with and getting the dualsense edge, gave me an initial impression of an abused controller button (but it was just me at the beginning lol). Overall, I prefer this short distance button presses now and if it's all good with you then I've nothing to complain then :)
Obviously everyone's preference of button press style is subjective 😄 but yes - all good from my point of view. A flaw or a minor point I'd rather have than that of the Microsoft Elite or uncomfortable back paddles.
The battery life issue *is significant* don't say it isn't you say you played 300 hours wich means that you had to charge that controller 60 times for 200$ *yet you had to charge it 60 times for merely 300 hours so out of those 300 hours around 35 to 50 hours were you charging the controller as you used it* this isn't a small issue since the Dualsense Edge is worth almost 3 times the price of a regular controller ...
@@KillDevilXO isn't it targeting "pro" gamers tho? like im no pro but i easily play 12+ hours on the days i play ... this is just bad i hatr Xbox controllers and even i have to admit that something that offers me 40 hours VS something that offers me just 5 is superior (shame the rest of the Xbox controller is shit because it doesn't have the haptic feedback and the D-Pad is literally garbage)

I have heard the clunking, not a good sighn i figured it was supposed to do that at the time, being that i just bought a ps5 im glad its the controller that came with the console
I've had mine for a few weeks, while I don't think it's worth the price tag (mind you though what controller should be worth half a console) it's got some decent features. Trigger locks are ok, and kind of wish the face buttons were a bit clickier, but all in all it's a good controller for multiplayer fps & single player. For warzone/apex/fortnite I use a 4 paddle extremerate, those extra 2 paddles once you get over the learning curb become hard to live without.
haha I've been there man it feels super weird using a regular after using paddles for so long. Even with the edge I try to hit those extra 2 paddles and forget they're not there. But for pubs in cod I found it's actually a lot better having 2 paddles than 4. With 4 I have a tendency to play with my weapon swap too much and reload at stupid times, with the edge I do a lot less of that for sure. Plus the joystick customization and precise stick movement help a lot too. @@iamthegamingnerd
To me it is worth more money if the controller will last significantly longer compared to the original. So I do not mind a premium price if it mean's saving more money in the long run.
there is some company GearZ or something, they modernize controllers including ps5 changing the sticks to magnetic ones and it works then for 10+ years. maybe it is only russian company i didn't check, but i'm sure there are others like that in different countries
@3:13 if they listend they would have ditched traditional and replaced it with hall effect sticks instead of making us pay 20-50 everytime we have to replace
It's good esp for games like COD mp. The battery life is rather short tho. And the rubbery grip at the back would turn yellowish after a few months of use even tho I always clean it
For me each regular sense controller last 7 months. So math for controllers would be Edge sense=20x+200 Regular sense=70x The x is how many times you replace the controller or removable joystick, which will be replaced every 7 months. When they overlap in cost, multiply x by 7 and you'll have the time until the prices level out.
All contextual really, as everyone's controllers can be used more or less per day and their components could go sooner or later. But the dualsense edge doesn't just allow you to swap stick modules it has all other advantages with the pricing.
It's hard to relate because I just haven't had this experience but if warranty is in place - in some ways - what's thr issue? As you can get it replaced. But I understand hall effect stick modules would be the answer.
There’s a much better way to do analog sticks but it’s patented sadly. 3D mouse. Uses light in slits to tell the position, super clever. Bc when you move the stick the slits underneath change the light and sensors see the light move. They’re the very best mouse for 3D work, you can easily fly around with one stick in any direction even straight up and down. Sony should buy the company.
I prefer the Dual Sense to the Xbox controller. I got the Edge two weeks ago but it leaves quite a bit to be desired compared to the Xbox Elite 2, especially the battery life. The Elite 2 also feels like a step up in premium materials over the standard controller whereas the Edge just more feels like the standard controller with extra paddles. Th profile system on PS is superior though as I don’t have to leave the game to see what my current profile are; just press the function button. Overall nice controller but the battery life is unacceptable for the price.
Im looking at this as an astro c40 owner which i stand by being the best pro ps4 controller and regularly use it for steam deck gaming. I hope there is some type of after market for the thumbstick modules. I really like high tension
I also loved the C40, used it for years! But it developed bad bumpers, which double actuated for one press and this happened on two controllers. It also doesn't work with the PS5 so I've left that in my controller graveyard unfortunately
@@decenthelpful1148 ahhh that sucks sorry to hear that. Apparently on COD you do something like 100 cycles on your sticks every minute. And the modules are designed for something like 2,000,000 cycles. So your controller will go in a few months. Who knew! 🤣
@@Protectorofgod haha - no I wouldn't actually - only 3rd party pro controllers that have custom stick grips are comfortable - always recommend some extra grips but not Kontrol Freeks - get non-branded from Amazon.
Battery life must be improved. The spring or whatever in the triggers needs to be stronger on the reset. Grip should be tackier. Other than that I have been pleased.
Did you know you can put the bumper or whatever in two different ways? So it's like you can change the back buttons to 3 different types. Only thing I don't like about the controls is the battery life of it.

Yes. I know it after 3 minutes. Why? Programmable keys at the bottom of the gamepad and adjustable analog acceleration curve. But before taking it out of the box - I was not sure and to be honest I doubted the product while buying it. But for me - it is worth it. But the question is to you, are those tiny improvements worth such a huge pile of money?

I love the controller. My biggest gripe is that the rubber grips have started peeling on both sides. I bought this controller for longevity so that's pretty annoying. I would have preferred to just have plastic grips.
To me it’s not worth the $200, the battery life is CRAP. The Xbox elite has a battery that you can’t drain, and I have not had any problems, how can Sony make a controller like this and. It improve the battery. It’s a no for me.

You're more than welcome buddy.
LET'S GO! I am glad you have devices you can rely on :)
Basically mirroring my opinion. Nice! Glad you love it buddy.

Which would you go for?
I've never used a scuff so I can't comment sadly. I always heard scuff are awful for quality control and also being one of the most expensive - they've not been at the top of my list for giving my money 😅
Get a scuf if you feel like treating the controller like royalty and being scared every single time you drop it that something broke
3 - 5 hours is a bit short damn. I hate using a wire because my couch is so far from my TV and someone would trip over it or send my ps5 flying
I ALWAYS carry a backpack with me everywhere I go that has portable chargers, pocket knives, lighters, face masks (ever since the coocoo virus), Ibuprofen (just in case), etc etc. lol

But now the dpad is scuffed and I could fix it. But I’m also debating just upgrading to a Edge, to make that my main controller. My ps4 controller lasted me forever, it seems like, on my PC.

Well over 2000 hrs on mine, and I love it. I use dome triggers on the back as ADS and FIRE as they are hella responsive.
What do you guys think of the DualSense? Do you own pro controllers yourself? 😮
no i only own the normal dualsense controllers
I have the DualSense Edge... My issue with the triggers aren't the clunky sound, but with the fact that when set to the shortest trigger stop setting you still have to press the trigger in quite some distance.
@@jlmelgarejo that's the same with all trigger stop controllers unless you opt for a brand that does mouse buttons.
I've got an elite core, I would buy the dualsense edge if it was 50% off, £210 for a pretty marginal improvement on the regular dualsense is quite frankly ridiculous.
£160 for xbox elite is quite substantial too ... and when I have gone through 5 of them all breaking - I just can't recommend them at all.
No gyro = no buy
I love the old Donkey Kong Country music in the background while you talking about the controller. I do plan on getting it depends on how much money I need to save. But that can wait instead I plan getting the Starlight Blue Side panels for my PS5, aka "Twilight." Cause it'll be fathers day soon and I can't wait to celebrate with my dad.
Also, I love the the old classic f zero in the Background as well.
Thank for for the comments, blue star Light panels though... that's interesting. Where are you getting those from?
@@iamthegamingnerd Mine does it without the haptic on the shortest trigger stop. Almost sounds like an extra click when I press it all the way down.
Oh crikey that's pants. But I must say it's never happened to me whmith haptic off. Still though... its not as annoying as the elite controller flaws.

Yeah I bet. I can't go back to a normal controller anymore I end up gripping the back plates for no reason 😂😂
haha I've been there man it feels super weird using a regular after using paddles for so long.
So math for controllers would be
Edge sense=20x+200
Regular sense=70x
The x is how many times you replace the controller or removable joystick, which will be replaced every 7 months. When they overlap in cost, multiply x by 7 and you'll have the time until the prices level out.
All contextual really, as everyone's controllers can be used more or less per day and their components could go sooner or later. But the dualsense edge doesn't just allow you to swap stick modules it has all other advantages with the pricing.
my ds5 and dse are both stick drifting but my ds4 even after 5 years of usage for an uncountable hours of usage still has no stick drift 😆
It's hard to relate because I just haven't had this experience but if warranty is in place - in some ways - what's thr issue? As you can get it replaced. But I understand hall effect stick modules would be the answer.
Hi, thanks for the review. I saw some users reporting rubber grab peeling or getting bubbles… have you experienced?
Not from me. I'm probably closer to 500 hours now and what I am noticing is circle sticking a bit but might just need an air blow.
Is that their name? 3D Mouse? If so I will check it out...
@@iamthegamingnerd cool, check it out yeah! 3dConnexion is the company (Logitech owned)
Love your bgms🤣
Bgms?
Im looking at this as an astro c40 owner which i stand by being the best pro ps4 controller and regularly use it for steam deck gaming. I hope there is some type of after market for the thumbstick modules. I really like high tension
I also loved the C40, used it for years! But it developed bad bumpers, which double actuated for one press and this happened on two controllers. It also doesn't work with the PS5 so I've left that in my controller graveyard unfortunately
I think it’s solid just wish it had clicky triggers and when I play too much the R2 L2s give me blisters on my fingers.
@@decenthelpful1148 ahhh that sucks sorry to hear that. I think the edge won't ever have clicky triggers because it needs to cater to more games than just FPS but there is a Hex Gaming Kickstarter that has both clicky and trigger stoppers to give back full press for driving games etc. It's on my channel too.
Ive never seen stick drift in 30 years of gaming until i started playing cod mw3 on nov 2nd now 2 of my pads have drift and ill looking at having to but dual sense edge now! I think some game sre definately more stressful on pads. Ive always hated sprinting with l3
Apparently on COD you do something like 100 cycles on your sticks every minute. And the modules are designed for something like 2,000,000 cycles. So your controller will go in a few months. Who knew! 🤣
I love everything about this controller, except the shape! I prefer the regular dual sense shape over the handles on the edge.
Since you have Kontrol freaks would you suggest just using the regular height thumsticks?
@@Protectorofgod haha - no I wouldn't actually - only 3rd party pro controllers that have custom stick grips are comfortable - always recommend some extra grips but not Kontrol Freeks - get non-branded from Amazon.
Battery life must be improved. The spring or whatever in the triggers needs to be stronger on the reset. Grip should be tackier. Other than that I have been pleased.
All viable suggestions absolutely
Did you know you can put the bumper or whatever in two different ways? So it's like you can change the back buttons to 3 different types. Only thing I don't like about the controls is the battery life of it.
I've used mine for almost 300 hours, and still no stick drift.
The slide for the trigger stoppers? Yes buddy but if I am getting trigger stoppers it will always be on the lowest settings... unless I am driving a vehicle 😁
Does the edge have a custom setup? Or do you plug it in and press the home button???
Plug and Play buddy
@@iamthegamingnerd yay
Had it since release day and can't say there's ever been a day that I got a low battery warning. I just drop it back on the charger when I'm done for the day.
Yup, unless you're a teenager and play all day.. this is typically the case. I agree.
I bought this controller solely for the reason to play COD. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CONTROLLER ❤
LETS GOOOO!!! 😁
I was going to buy one of these but they don’t even make the replacement analogs anymore and haven’t been in stock for lik 6 months
@@zubrbydle7448 without any knowledge of how much parts cost... no but I think all pro controllers are overpriced.
Yo stick looks exactly like mine with the white Freeks🤟🏿
Ayo!! 🤟
1:38 psychotic controller grip. Do you not use the triggers???
Sure I do... I bash them with my head.
after using the controller for a couple months i have already gotten stick drift. i thought i could just get new sticks but they're sold out EVERYWHERY and im regretting my purchase each day more and more
Within a few months is a warranty job - why would you buy new modules when it's down to Sony to replace the product?
What game is shown at 1:12?
XDefiant 😄
I love the controller. My biggest gripe is that the rubber grips have started peeling on both sides. I bought this controller for longevity so that's pretty annoying. I would have preferred to just have plastic grips.
I've heard many reports of this but it's not happened to me. I'd call that a warranty job if you're still under a year?
To me it’s not worth the $200, the battery life is CRAP. The Xbox elite has a battery that you can’t drain, and I have not had any problems, how can Sony make a controller like this and. It improve the battery. It’s a no for me.
5:36 You have a RUclips plaque awarded to '8Bit Dad' for 100K subscribers, yet this channel shows 370subscribers (at time of writing this comment). What's that all about?
Great production, informative video on the controller. I listened with headphones, i think you may need to fix/tweak your microphone that you use for recording.
I had another channel but unfortunately the audience on that channel was no longer receptive to the content I wanted to create - so I've started again 😄 - what was the issue with the microphone? Too loud / too quiet / something else?
@@iamthegamingnerd You're all good, mate. I re-paired my bluetooth headset, no more issues. I also double checked with wired headphones. The problem was my end, sorry for false alarm. You crack on, lad!
Ahh, sorry to read you felt it necessary to start again from scratch with your RUclips channel. Surely it can't have been THAT bad? 100K subs, that's probably decent ad revenue.
@@Mumra2K I was a streamer 5 years ago and RUclips loved to push out notifications and live streams - then shorts came out and their "audience" driven algorithms and live streams died a death. Went from 350,000 views on a stream to 300 views for 3 hours by the end. Sad times.
Before I destroy in the wall my regular ps5 controller he was on 3k of hard gaming ! With a little bit drift because I was crouching with l3
that's good going! normal ps5 controller or the edge?
Adaptive triggers on a pro controller seem counter intuitive. Also playing wireless on a pro controller the same. im def interested in this. Thanks for the info.
You are more than welcome 🙏 I am glad you found it useful. If you want any more information - please just ask.
How do you buy replacement analog caps and back buttons. They only sell the module
Analog caps? Back buttons is an Amazon job though.
The only issue with it is the rubber grips that will eventually peel and get bubbles just like in Elite 2 controllers
I've not experienced this myself 😞
If my Standard Controller which came with the PS5 Breaks down I'm getting a second Dual Sense Edge Controller!
A second one? Wow!
The fact that you can fix stick drift for $25 bucks makes it top tier...
I agree but many people hate this controller. Baffles me. 🤷
TLDR: he loves it
a true Sony pony
They can do no wrong.
There, saved you time.
Mate, there is a whole section on issues. Did you even watch the whole video before commenting?
I'm on my 3rd one, stick drift and I wasn't going to pay for the modules with both as they was within the 12 month warranty, sony was good enough to replace it twice but next time I'm guessing it will be out of warranty and I'll have to get new modules
That sounds mightily unlucky to me. Plus pretty sure all replacement come with a further 12 months warranty.
@@iamthegamingnerd ah that's nice to know. Its odd, you don't send all the bits, case, not even the thumbsticks you click on, just the base controller and they send a new one once tested that it has actual stick drift. Both times they sent me a new one. Pretty bad it still gets it, but I do love the controller. I blame fifa and cod for stick drift, you get heavy handed with those 2 poor games online 😊
@@guerrillagames7279 that is annoying but I do believe it has to be bad luck and a bad set of parts. Strange for stick drift they don't just send you new stick modules instead of a whole new controller?
@@iamthegamingnerd you have to send the whole controller back not with all the parts and they decide if its a faulty their end or if someone has bashed the hell out of it or dropped it in water I guess. Mine was stick drift twice, this one now hasn't had it.. So far.
@@guerrillagames7279 fingers crossed for you mate 🤞
Hell I barely have time to play a video game once a month and this dude clocks more hours than I work my job in a quarter. 😮
@@donneuenschwander4457 haha contextual I think - I am a video editor for a game studio and my wife knows gaming is my passion so I schedule hours of gaming in the week and then once they're done I'm fully helping out with everything else ☺️ so I get it easier than most guys I think?
This video is great but if I hear dualedge sense instead of dualsense edge I might cry
Up on the dpad on my pro controller feels sticky and did so out of the box, gunna get some canned air and see if that sorts it, if not I’ll just get it replaced
Sounds like a plan 🤞👌
Thata a cool song from F zero from sns !!wow memories 😢
I know right?
I just sold my Battle Beaver with extreme tension on the right stick and digital triggers and ordered one of these. Nervous about my decision. Do you think ill regret it?
I don't personally think so but everyone's different so it's hard to say. I've never used a battle beaver so I can't comment. 😓
@@iamthegamingnerd praying I don’t regret it. I loved that controller but their customer service sucks so I got rid. Plus the changeable sticks on the edge are a huge selling point.
