Leader singer with pants worn below the waist ☑ Guitarist with jean shorts ☑ Bassist with dreads ☑ Skinny white drummer ☑ Yup, this is vintage late 90's
I've only gotten into Deftones within the last year or so and even though i hadn't properly heard this song before in my life until several months ago, it weirdly felt very much apart of my childhood and that i should of known about it wile i was growing up...
I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way. Let's just be glad we have YT to watch thing kinda stuff haha How yeah, it would certainly be awesome to go back in time to the late 90's for a few days. I miss those days!
Adrenaline and Around the Fur were, and still are, the two most Deftones albums in their discography. They've definitely come back to that core sound in later albums, but nothing as cohesive of a sound as those two.
I'm not trying to stick up for Beiber by any means I HATE that little guy. BUT I believe it's probably because there is SO MUCH music nowadays. If Deftones came out at this time they'd probably be lost in the flurry of music, know what I mean? They are an AMAZING band, BUT there is SO much out there that who's to say aren't amazing?
You can tell the guitar player is on Cloud 6 billion, as a fellow player myself, the energy he exhibits is pure endorphins and adrenaline from performing. It’s a feeling better than any drug on earth. Makes me so happy to see bands get gigs like this, it’s what you dream of every night as a musician.
I always tell people it’s better than sex, it’s better than drugs, it’s better than having sex on drugs. I remember one time while playing a really good show, as my head swung up (I was the drummer) everything seemed to move in slow motion. I could see the sweat flying off my head towards the ceiling, the sweat from our bass players head raining down on me as he stood on my bass drum, and in that moment I realized that I had never felt such an incredible connection with another human being as I did those 3 dudes on stage with me in my entire life. It really did feel like the 4 of us could take on the entire world.
@BuckScrotumn ha ha with you on that one mate, was a drummer myself & I,d give anything to go back to those days, when it was a perfect gig,I,d be high as fuck all night & the next day, what it must be like playing to tens of thousands ❤️❤️✊️✊️

I'd say blame it on marketing. It's easier to sell an image versus a sound.

His backing vocals and bass tone on the S/T record are incredible.. probably my favorite aspects of anything the Deftones have done.
What an uncanny dissonance. The oblivious, commercial positivity of Conan O’Brian. The furious, lethal despair of the Deftones. This is peak 90s.
