She is living, breathing art. Lisa is a queen that doesn't seem to know it.

Soooo true! Dionne always told a story in her music. I fell I love with her voice when I heard " You'll never get to heaven".....I was 12 years old!

first of all, I LOVE Lisa...one of the most underrated vocalists in music...of any genre. But she hit the nail on the head, regarding Ms Warwick. When I was a little guy, I didnt hear much of Dionne's music at all, in my own household. My folks were blues/jazz/funk people. But when I would visit my Mom's best girlfriend's house, just about evey weekend, I would hear Dionne ALL THE TIME...her and Marlena Shaw and Esther Phillips were "Mrs Shirley's" favorites. All Dionne has to sing for me is "No Night So Long (That You Cant Find The Day), and Im almost in tears....and to this day, at 53 yrs of age, I cant figure out how and why that song almost makes me cry whenever I hear her sing it. I LOVE THAT SONG...and I love Dionne Warwick.

Describing Dionne Warwick’s music as singing movies as opposed to moments is spot on. She’s still so underrated and a DIRECT influence on Whitney Houston; range and all. Brilliance!

She nailed it. I think of all her big hits, and it does feel like a lifetime worth of feelings and thoughts compressed into a few minutes of her wistful singing.

She’s definitely not underrated. She made history being the first black woman to win a Grammy in the pop category, and she’s won numerous other Grammy’s and awards as well

@kikataye6293 SHE'S IS UNDERRATED. MOST FOLKS DON'T KNOW HOW PIVOTL SHE WAS/IS TO BLACK MUSIC, TO POP MUSIC, TO THE CROSSOVER. DIONNE WAS AN OUTLIER.

I agree to everything and understand in such a unique manner Ms. Fischer describes about the classy, stylish singing Ms. Warwick. Big fan of Ms. Warwick from Bangalore, India though I knew her only 12 years ago when I was a kid. Nevertheless, love Ms. Fischer so much.. Extremely gorgeous lady and what a vocal gymnast.

Oh my gosh. That is my exact Dionne Warwick experience! i didn’t quite see Dionne and her sound as “special” per say.
i was a kid in middle school and all i knew was that i was listening to something perfect and gorgeous that took me to a glorious “sunset” world of brass and strings.

To me I could listen to Dionne’s full Discography. From her work with Burt Bacharach and Hal David to her Only Trust Your heart album. Her music is just like no other. From the artistic and flexible voice to the elegant and beautiful melodies. I’ve listened to her since I was about 13 years old and now at 18, her music will always have a place in my heart.

But its the overall vibe of this interview. The baby grand in the background, the Queen Lisa Fisher with that crown adorning her head the mood lights a glow. Just beautiful! Art!

Another penny from heaven Lisa on Dionne. Complete agreement with what she says about Ms. Warwick. I fell under that same spell the Dionne magic where when you hear her sing it's like going from black and white to full color you feel/see brillance with each song or note she sings. And so classy. The Lp notes for Dionnes No Night So Long album Furs from Dionnes Closet Jewels Frkm Dionne Jewelry Box elegance style class

I've followed you Lisa for many years, and it's so wonderful to hear your point of view on a few of the highlights of your career. You are as I envisioned you to be in Spirit; sweet, honest, generous, loving, and certainly authentic; and that voice, well it's obvious! Thank you sincerely for gifting us all!

Whitney and Dionne are actually first cousins, they were very close. Dionne's mother and Whitney's mother (Cissy Houston) are sisters.

No! She said it herself, "It was different". This is why singers that have unique voices sing differently seem to do well. Why listen to singers when they all sound the same.
