You are the world that listens to the music all the time. You can bet your life I'm still listening as long as I'm still alive. The Doobie Brothers hold a special place in my heart, thanks Doobie Brothers for staying strong and still playing right on. 🎵🎶
mid 70s, they came to my college and put on a great show- filled the gym with a sro crowd- what a blast- I stood right in front of the stage; and yep, couldn't hold back the tears watching this
I'm in my 50's, in a 3 piece band and we did this song 2 years ago for a neighborhood block party. We played it for the final song of the night and it was a big hit with the crowd, we used and arrangement similar to this one. Thank you Doobies for 50 years of the very best music there is!!!! Love you guys.
@@WesSTJean Tom Johnston was one of the original members. When he had to leave the band for medical reasons back in the late 70's/early 80's, Michael McDonald came in to replace him vocally and also add great keyboards. When the band got back together after the 1982 break-up, Johnston was back with them. McDonald played several years with the Doobies before leaving to work on his very successful solo career. He has joined them from time to time when schedules permitted.
@Chewy Ltd: I am not sure what your point is. Mike Reno did not sing with the Doobie Brothers He may have covered some of their material and even admired them but the discussion was about the Doobie Brothers, not who may or may not have covered them
I was there in 2004 for that show. My wife, RIP, and I saw them live 29 times starting in 1973. If we could drive to the show in a day, we were there. No other 70s band could hold a candle to those guys. Saw them last year for their 50th anniversary, minus my wife, Suffered through Michael McDonalds moans and I’m headed to Greensboro NC in September IF WE’RE ALL STILL HERE
My two favourite American bands-The Doobie Brothers and The Eagles. Both we’re made up of top notch musicians who left it all out on the stage with every performance.
Its 1am cant sleep and I found this. Excellent. Tracked down a video of the same song from back in the day, my day, and you know what ? There's no difference. As good now as they were then. Or maybe it's just my 65 year old hearing. Don't think so !
Got news for you Wavy The Doobie Brothers were elected into the RRHOF today 1/ 15/20!And this is ONE OF MY FAVORITES THEY CREATED! It's hard to pick one for me their music is so great! Congratulations DOOBIES!
My wife and I were there that night and thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Thought I died and went to Heaven! What a fabulous concert! Should be in the HOF!!!
Rendition, "Listen to the Music" is a song recorded by the Doobie Brothers on their second album Toulouse Street. This song was the Doobie Brothers' first big hit in 1972. It was written by Tom Johnston
Reminds me of jamming this in the jeep with my dad as a kid cant belive hes been gone 10 years today. Miss ya, man, but jamming the doobs makes me feel like you're here still. Rip dad, I'll keep on rocking
I was so fortunate to have grown up in a time when I could flip on the radio to almost any station and hear this incredible spirit restoring music. And not the soulless heartless crap that plays on the radio today.
Damn. The Doobies shine when they focus on guitars, not keyboards and easy-listening muzak. This music is alive, not synthetic. So glad they came back to square one and their proper anchor. Rock n roll justice.
I seen Tom Johnston at the Decade in Pittsburgh in 1979. Wasn't with the doobies but put on an amazing show. He hi fived me as he made his way threw the crowd.😊
Listening to the music I grew up and still see bands like these that don't stop Like Santana Elton Johnson Rush until they called but the rock an others Never to old always young to listen to rock Bring a tear to my eyes Man life gose in a wink of an eyes This like yesterday too me Never ages ❤️❤️❤️
I remember seeing them on Friday Night Live at 12:00 when I was 13....wow! They played "Jesus is my friend" and that episode (maybe the following) Electric Light Orchestra played "Roll over Beethoven" . I was HOOKED. Loved it!
The first concert I seen as a teenager in '74 were these guys. Still a favorite of mine . As a bass player I do miss Tyran Porter though. His bass lines we're clear, clean and punchy and added a lot to their sound.
Man do I miss going to a show! I mean live music, from live and in person musicians, with a real crowd just having a great time! It doesn't get any better than that does it? The crowd is clapping, singing and dancing and the band feeds off that energy and the place is well, ROCKING! When they pan to the crowd look at the variety of people, young, not to young, all different shapes and sizes just having a great time. That's what I miss. Let's get this virus past us and have a great big loud, rowdy, and fun concert, or better yet a whole lot of them we got to catch up now don't we? Brothers and sisters be well, safe and peace to you and yours, I'll look you up at the next live show, what about that!
That's what our parents said. All the music has a purpose. I love at least one song in every genre. I love lots of music in many genres. The only problem I have with new stuff is I am too old to appreciate it the right way. They're nice people and they deserve respect.
@@Gloriapower I can still hear my mother back in the 1960's saying how Guy Lombardo had more talent than all the rock bands put together. My grandmother used to say the "new music" sounded "worse than random noise".

Loved these guys have had the privilege to see them multiple times.. ALWAYS a good time. One time I sat a row behind Patrick Simmons at at small venue of a Dave Mason concert up in the wine country of San Fran. I love the Michael MacDonald era. Americas band.
This is THE song that you want to be listening to over and over again, what a groove!! I can't stop listening..... i can't stop singing.... all the time.....
There's no love no communication in most of the music of today. It's all ego. This gig has reminded me of how music should and can be if we want it to be.
We catch a Doobies' concert every summer. Can't wait until July 3 at the Pepsi Center in Denver (with Santana)! The Doobies are still amazing live, and they really know how to get the crowd into it. Let's all email the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and help get this great group inducted!
John Mcfee, Keith Knudsen, Tom Johnston, Michael Hossack & Pat Simmons.........5 of the Original Doobie Members in the lineup..................plus Cameo By Michael McDonald........2005, the last of the days when this was still a true Borthers Band.........................
Listen to the music The best Doobie bros somg of all time.an absolute classic and still is .what other song by any other group is as good .This is an absolute classic.no worries about it .will go down in history as there best ever
First concert I ever saw. 14 years old. Minute by Minute tour. 1979. At the end of the show the band threw armfuls of long stem roses into the crowd. Classy.
This song is like an anthem to North American music. I met some of these guys in 2001 and just the nicest guys ever. They really should be in the RRHOF.
Just saw these guys live. Clark Co Washington. Five rows back from center stage. Crazy good show. Can't believe how many great songs they've produced and how well they perform together. They don't get enough respect.
If you would have asked me 40 years ago if Tom would have been still ...singing, playing...breathing?... in 2013? And sounding as good or better than he did way back when? Way to survive brother....way to fucking survive.

A travesty that the Doobie Brothers are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Great songwriters, great vocalists, great musicians.

True musicians. They sound amazing! Trully an aspiration
It must be a profound feeling when the Doobies onstage see the audience singing every word of their song with them. They are so loved!

Fantastic harmony!

At their age - to hold their notes so well is impressive.
Probably my favorite Doobie Brothers song period, is this one. And I do listen to the music most of the time.
Saw them last weekend with Santana at Bethel Woods- the site of the original Woodstock. They were amazing. Always one of my favorite bands.
Great band!!! :)
I love the way it's shot - and the Crowd, right there with them.
I used to play in a sort of tribute band. Doobies were always my favorite stuff to do! This song and Long Train Running were my favorites!!
