Sadly Tom is temporarily off the tour due to back surgery and praying good health and healing to/for him in Jesus' Name. But John Cowan was spectacular filling in for Tom Johnston especially at the Illinois State Fair. There are not too many bands with this high level of musical synchronicity, flair, coordination and a wide range of the blend of rock and roll, jazz and soul all rolled up into one 2.5 hour nonstop package of musical excellence. There will never be another Doobie Brothers. Come back soon, Tom!

The first time I saw McFee I thought, "who is this punk?" But he did his job without any apparent ego, and the look on his face was like "I have the greatest job in the world!" That's the look he seems to have carried now for decades. Lots and lots and lots of times someone joins famous established bands and they're never really "one of them." McFee is definitely not an example of that. He has earned a position as one of the great important members of the band. And without fanfare. Just as Patrick doesn't revel in fanfare. That's impressive.

Saw them a few years ago in Perth Australia as support to Santana. Blew Carlos away. This concert even better. Rock on.
