This is so good. I’m latina and I speak Spanish but I didn’t always speak very well. But I at least had the foundation and the ear for the language. I heard it growing up, so I have a decent accent. Ultimately what really helped was taking Spanish in high school and college and then also living in a Latin country (Colombia) that was ultimately what helped me but I’m so blessed I had the foundation. I was able to communicate and practice and I wasn’t starting from square one once I became an adult. You’re doing a great job!
I've wondered about Homeschool Spanish Academy for a while. I definitely want to look into doing it for the upcoming school year. I think your video was so helpful getting more insight into it.
I did Rosetta Stone for Hebrew. I got really far, but at one point it just got too confusing because they never explained what was happening. I had to switch curriculum for Hebrew. Also, I wonder if Rosetta Stone using the same photos for every language. Would be easier but probably confusing. Just wondering though.
Ah! Thank you for this! We've begun Spanish this year, and I've been thinking about what to do next fall. We are learning Spanish orally, and the kids are doing reasonably well. But I've been just terrible about consistency. This gives me another option to consider.
Learning a second language is so hard, but I think so important. I went so far as to enroll my youngest in a dual language Spanish immersion program through the public school last year, but COVID just made it too messy, so she home full-time again and we are working away at Spanish. I speak some Spanish but not fluently. The struggle is real!
Naomi is such a neat name and I have met many girls with the name Naomi who are so cute, good looking and beautiful ❤ ❤ ❤ I bet she is going to surpass the other kids eventually!! Just tell her si se puede which mean yes we can!!
Hi there! My kids are a month in and are doing ok. We have had some classes before Spanish Homeschool Academy, however they needed that native speaker part. I'm in the same boat, my family is Panamanian and I speak a little , like real little Spanish. I'm excited to see my kids progress, so how are your kids doing now since you made this video?
We’re doing well. My daughter loves it and my mother in law claims that she can no longer speak Spanish around my kids without them understanding her. No more secret Spanish conversations.
@@LivingWithEve yes I love this! So encouraging! My parents can’t keep secrets from me either but their time with secret keeping will be coming to a close very soon as well😂. Thank you for your response.
How would you recommend incorporating this with kids going to full time school? I love how you incorporate Spanish everyday. Im gonna start a spring term and then do more intensive learning during the summer and other school breaks
I don't want to sound jinxed, but Spanish in 1 year? in 1 and a half? No way, so many verbal forms, we have almost more irregular verbs than regular, masculine and feminine, gender and number agreement between nouns and adjectives, and accent marks that completely change the meaning of the word. But once you all learn it, you can speak with people from 20 countries. Careful with localism :), I'm native and sometimes when I travel I say something and people give me "the look" (many of them have sexual meanings, hahaha)
This looks great! Question- my son took a year of public school high school Spanish- do they have any kind of placement evaluation before you start? 3 of my kids are adopted from Guatemala so I think this would be perfect for them!!
They used it for a year and then we are taking a break. I will start my son up on Spanish 1 when he is in High School. The results really depend on how much they put in. They did pretty average. The youngest son can actually understand his Abuela a little better now.
Can you make an update on HSA? We use calico Spanish but it gets repetitive and boring but HSA costs a lot of money. So I am trying to justify the price. I am fluent in Spanish my 4 kids watch cartoons in Spanish but they need a boost we live in North Idaho and there are no Spanish speakers here. I want my kids to be global citizens.
Well we did take a break recently. It gives them the grammar side of things. But if you speak Spanish, I would just talk to them. Unless it’s for high school, then depending on college you may want the credit class. But it depends on what you need.maybe also look at Talk box mom.
We love Homeschool Spanish Academy! We used them last year and are continuing this year.

This is awesome! Definitely worth the price for high school students.
Thank you. I've been looking for a Spanish curriculum just like this.
Muy Beuno video Leilani! I’ll have to check this out as Rosetta Stone has been giving me trouble! -Ryan

Nice I used to take Spanish class a long time ago

I would have them do it when they get home.
Thanks I am thinking of doing calico spanish for my toddlers and HSA for my 4th grader
Did you try it yet?

Yes, they do a placement evaluation.
This looks so thorough! I've had so many hits and misses with language courses, that I'm super wary. I'm going to try out the free class. 💕💕
If I choose to purchase classes for my high schooler can my 4th grader also listen and participate in the background ??
Yes, she can learn a lot that way if it interest her.
Are you still using this program? Thinking of using it but wondering what you’re thinking 2 yrs later.
Actually I only did it for a year, however now that my son is going into to high school, we are enrolling again.
Hello! Are you still using this program? If so, how are your children's progress?
They used it for a year and then we are taking a break. I will start my son up on Spanish 1 when he is in High School. The results really depend on how much they put in. They did pretty average. The youngest son can actually understand his Abuela a little better now.
So is this completely in Spanish ? And do you do core subjects in Spanish math, English, History, social studies etc?
You can request that they speak in only Spanish, but they do speak fluent English too to help. Math and Language Arts I do with them.
It sounds like you didn’t get too much out of it based on your comments? Wondering if you would still recommend for kids?
We’re actually going to try again with HS this year.
Is it interactive? And do I need a video camera on the computer? Ty
Yes and yes.

Do they have family pricing or do you have to purchase per child?
It’s per child. You can also double up and do two students in one class for a discount.
Is this for learning spanish or for spanish speakers learning in spanish?
Learning Spanish.
