    We enjoyed young explorers apologia but not high school, switched to The 101 series and LOVED it. We tried TT but we found they didn’t always explain the steps, we sat with child and watched child take notes, it did loop too. We switched to Learn math fast and reallllly enjoyed the simplicity, the one lesson per week, working problems out during the week. Loved your video and love your haircut.

    Thank you so much for sharing.
    We are going through Writing & Rhetoric, I’d love to learn what isn’t as good, because perhaps those reasons might or might not be relevant to us. I like that W & R doesn’t take long, a bit each day, my son doesn’t actually write in the student book so I plan on reusing it for my next child when he is ready for it, so cost wise so affordable and all ready to go. Lots of the material my son has covered so far has really high moral teaching, and lessons they are trying to put across, which I feel is wonderful and helpful.
    I’ve been wary of iew because it feels extremely mechanical, and not a natural coming from the heart. I feel the video lessons appear to take long too. Would really love to learn on the these sorts of queries. We use R & S for grammar, handwriting and spelling in addition, and just starting an online literature study group, so not overloading with time is something I’m aware of.

    Am I the only one that doesn't like HWOT? I don't like the way they form some of the letters, especially C. It's like it's only half a C.

    • @LivingWithEve
      @LivingWithEve  2 года назад +1

      So, there is a huge purpose behind the shapes of the letters. For the little PK kids, they are learning recognize that shapes make up letter. They have 4 options, big curve, little curve, big line, little line. Alot of kids need that simplicity in order to make since of letter writing. With those shapes they teach constructing letters in many forms, stamping, tracing. They use the same patterns: curve, up / down, slide, zip to help them form the words. If they can write those patterns, they can write any word. Because of its simplicity, they can learn it faster without frustration, and as a result, their confidence is built.
      No with the half C, HWOT is not saying that they C must look like that forever. But they keep it as a half curve to keep to its pattern. Trust me when I tell, a lot of kids with learning disabilities, slow learners, struggles, autistic or even just a mathematical / engineering mind need that structure that HWOT offers in order to learn and understand letters.
      Since there are 4 options, like I mentioned, they are able to construct letters. Not many people realize this, but this is a quick and easy way to get kids to learn their letters. For the average kids, it's almost overnight. For kids that struggle with writing, it gives them an alternate way for creating the letter and building memory of the letter's shape.
      Alot of research has gone behind how Handwriting Without Tears has been created.
      With a child who has a learning disability, we do have an advantage of seeing the research in action more. Believe me when I say, there is such a huge difference in confidence, letter creating, writing, structure, contruction, ect... They shape of the C is nothing compared to what it does for these kids, because we all know, eventually, after seeing C in books and other people's handwriting, they will unconsciously adjust.
      Hope this helps.

      @ditajean 2 года назад

      @@LivingWithEve I'm actually autistic, but I also have OCD so the letter shape does bother me. To each their own though. I'm glad it works so well for Naomi.
