    This is our 3rd year using Master Books and they are such a great company. My daughter has been doing Elements of Faith and it is a wonderful course. They also recwntly came out with Foundations in Faith and Foundations in Worship and they are both so good. We recently purchased Crafted by God and it is a gorgeous and amazing book.

    I definitely find myself going back to MasterBooks time and time again after I stray to chase sparkly new curriculums. 🤣 And as for the color coding, yes - the top color relates to the subject. Math is yellow, Language Arts is orange, History/Geography is green, Science is dark blue, and electives are light blue.

    We loved all 3 of the America's Story books. It was an amazing spine for elementary US history. We included some supplements since my daughter likes history so much. Also, we loved the God's Design series, which is the AIG science units published 3 to a book, for elementary science.

    I’m looking for a science curriculum for my daughter next year. She’ll be in 7th grade. This was her first year homeschooling and we didn’t have a science curriculum. We have been using various unit studies from different places. But I’m thinking I want a stand alone science for her because I feel like we haven’t done very much science this year. Thank you for sharing. I definitely want a Biblical worldview for her.

    I always go back to Master Books for curriculum and we've collected so many books for our home library. I love their LA for my 1st and 2nd graders! I think the trick is doing a handful of sight words and spelling words each day. Otherwise they don't get enough practice. I've written out extra cards to review phonics too. Not crazy about the math curriculum; however it would be great for the reluctant learner. Love the God's Design series for science and More Than Words for Bible. Master Books is well-worth the money!

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I want to say that the elementary math and LA are actually written by MB, and the rest of their curricula are purchased and 'repackaged' with their spin on the teacher guides. I also love their apologetics and have quite a few of their books. I have a 6th grader this year and we are using Answers in Genesis science (the original, not the MB remix since I got them used). I am excited to dive into more of their science and logic curricula! That said, I couldn't get on board with the approach of the LA and math either.

    Firstly, love your videos - they are thorough but also entertaining 🎉i dabbled in a lot of curriculums since I started to homeschool my boys 3 years ago. I had purchased all the courses you just mentioned for next year for my oldest son and now he is going back to school - I’m sad . I’m hopeful to save them for my youngest as they look so fascinating .
    My youngest has now completely transitioned to MasterBooks . I love IEW but my son really struggles with LA so the gentler slower approach of MBs has really worked for him .
    I love as lot of their books - be it curriculum or homeschool library.
    I had no idea that they were mainly a publishing company 🧐interesting
    The apologetics courses we will give a go at next year and my son and I are both quite excited 😊

    Thank you for sharing this video! I'm super excited for your interview with Dr. Jason Lisle! We love Masterbooks too! I have a couple of those Applied Engineering books that I've collected from their flash sales. I'm planning for my son to use that curriculum in the next couple of years. I'd love to see more videos about the courses you use and your thoughts!
    Also, just wanted to mention that you have access to the academy courses for 18 months from your purchase date! You can go forward and backwards with the course, so you could potentially use it for multiple students throughout that 18 month time span. That's what we're doing with their Spanish for Families academy course. We also use their Jacob's Algebra MB Academy videos and those are awesome.

I use many other curriculums, but always go back to MasterBooks for 2-3 subjects per year. Their website reminds me that no matter what curriculum I chose from any company, I need to ask myself, Does this curriculum turn my children to Christ? Does it give the glory to God? Thanks for updating us with your newer thoughts!

    We used the three volumes of America's Story and it was ok but we didn't love it. It wasn't that the content wasn't good or enjoyable, but it just seemed lacking. (Definitely recommend pairing it with living book selections!) We liked the Vol. 1 worksheet options because it felt much more Charlotte Mason-ish, but by the time we got to Vol. 3, it felt like it was mostly your basic worksheets which really aren't our homeschool style.
    That said...we're looking at the Master's Class Biology course for next year! We have done experiments from the start of our homeschooling way back when (I have an only) and neither of us want to do them anymore!!! We're just burnt out on experiments, lol. We're currently using DIVE (Shormann) online science because the labs are online, but it is so boring (sorry! just our opinion!). If I'm understanding correctly, it's possible to use the MB course and still receive the lab credit without having to purchase and do the lab experiments in your home. So we're hoping! Need to do a little more digging to verify.

We are trying out their foundations in worship, logic, and biology next year. I have not been the biggest fan of their science in the past. Leilani, I have been following your channel for some time now. I have a rising 4th grader but have barely dipped into science. I am in need of a solid, Biblical, science curriculum…one that I hope that I can stick with and not keep switching. I am thinking Masterbooks. What are the main differences between AIG and Masterbooks? What would you recommend? He has only gone through a very brief 3rd grade science curriculum through BJU press last year. It was ok, but I’m looking for more. I saw Masterbooks has a Paleontology course which he would love because he has been on a dinosaur kick now for the past year. That one is for 4th-6th graders and is a one year study. Do I bother with a dinosaur study or move on to more “formal” science since he hasn’t really delved into it?? Really feeling lost and hope you can provide some direction for me. Thanks!!

    • @LivingWithEve
      @LivingWithEve  Год назад +1

      That's a lot to think about. Masterbooks carries the books from AIG. So it's the same. I haven't seen the paleontology study yet so I can't give you a full review. I personally do not see a need for "formal" science studies. Formal means a mix of different science disciplines in one year. I always do 1 science topic a year. Same with history. This year we did Forensic Science (7th & 5th graders) and Animal Science (5th and 3rd graders) for the younger kids. They learn better this way. Apologia is also a great curriculum to look at.
