Easter hats, that is. It’s Easter Day in 1883 - the next year after the season 1 storyline.
The title of this episode is You Don’t Even Like Opera.
My plan is to give you a few videos for each episode and just focus on one or two aspects of the show, instead of a full recap. In this video, I’m going to start where they started.
At the church. And you know that I like to do a little extra digging, so I have a news article to share with you from this time period that gives a little more info on the church that our upstairs cast attends. And we'll get caught up with Peggy and the sad Easter that the Scotts had on this video from Ti's Hot Mess History.
Armstrong”s poverty stricken background makes her jealous of Peggy. She probably never knew there were Black people who were well off.
She's definitely jealous of Peggy. I don't think that she really knows Peggy's background, but her clothes tell a lot about her station in life.
@@TisHotMessHistoryArmstrong can see that Peggy is from a much higher status. She cant accept that a Black person could be educated , refined and appears to come from a soft life which is most likely opposite of her dirt poor background.
Armstrong is pretty high in the pecking order of servants. Peggy is trying to kill her with kindness. Armstrong looks more like an ingrate in the face of that. Peggy is handling it right.
Yes, Armstrong is high, but she's beneath Peggy. I'm sure that's a sore spot for her. I agree with you that Peggy is doing a great job handling her.
It’s simply because Peggy is educated and Armstrong is not. That’s why she’s behaving this way.
@@laneygomez2385 I am sure that Armstrong is jealous of that education.
@@laneygomez2385 She can’t understand how the Negro got a better lot in life than she, a white woman.
Can’t remember the name but the Foot man’s son in law gave him an offer to move away and never come back.
Yeah. This was after seeing episode 2. I'm going to post a video for episode 3 next. That's when that happened.
🥰Omg…love your cheeky comments on the scenes. Oh how I laugh with your humour. So good so funny…feel better😍💕
Hi! Thank you so much for coming back. I'm so glad that you appreciate my humor. I am feeling a little bit better. I actually have a review ready for episode 3 before episode 4 airs. Getting back on track! It premieres at 4:00 pm CST in case you want to see it:

Peggy a better woman than me I would’ve even helped after her refusing! Armstrong is super jealous because she is talented, and comes from a wealthy background. I don’t think Armstrong going to get it together! I love when Peggy told her “I don’t have a quarrel with you but you don’t want one with me”. mic drop
I hope Ada does end up starting something with the rector. She’s been in the shadow of Agnes too long and you can tell it has stifled and suppressed her. Agnes is always cutting her down and trying to sow doubt in her. Agnes needs to take up a hobby or adopt some orphans or something
I'm with you. I want for Ada to get into a relationship with the rector if he truly turns out to be a good guy. I agree with your assessment of the sisters' relationship. Agnes definitely needs a hobby! But I think that she would be a little hard on some orphans. LOL!
Armstrong tries to seem so busy because she's so insecure of Peggy
I don’t know where 2 start 😂 so funny! I didn’t even think about Agnes not wanting to be alone. I just assumed she was a hater 🤷🏾♀️. Great breakdown!
LOL! You're right. She IS a hater. I just think that there's something more to it than that...this time.
@@TisHotMessHistory Marion’s father took all his dad’s money and left the sisters in poverty. Agnes had to marry a not so nice man in order to survive and take care of her sister. It was covered in the previous season.. I think Ada had shared that with Marion. Agnes is probably a mix of bitter, jaded , doesn’t want to be without her sister a hater and a good judge of character.
Not that pastoral peen 😭😭😭 this is too good. Subscribed!
LOL! If that's what got you to subscribe, you are my kind of lady! Welcome to the channel. I hope that you enjoy it here.
Agnes wasn't here for Armstrongs tears
Not AT ALL! Lol!
Ti ... Get well soon. 😊
Armstrong and O'Brien (Downton Abbey) are certainly kindred spirits! Perhaps for similar reasons?
I love Peggy and Marian. Perhaps it is because they are so young and I want them to have everything.
I used to feel sorry for Gladys, but now that I know her father is in her corner, so to speak; I have hope
she won't mess up or be forced into a disastrous marriage.
One theme in period pieces (that was not based on fiction) was a father, a husband in his prime,
(40's/50's) just dropping dead with a heart attack. I hope that this does not happen to Mr. Russell.
Hi! Thank you so much. I'm fighting to get well.
I am feeling a little bit better. I actually have a review ready for episode 3 before episode 4 airs. Getting back on track! It premieres at 4:00 pm CST in case you want to see it:
ruclips.net/video/0Qr2n_9_dgA/видео.html
I hope that things turn out well for Gladys too, but I can't pretend that I'm very optimistic about it.
I hope that George's character stays alive. That would be sad if he has to leave behind his family.
Wow, I'm beginning to wonder if there will be a story line, that shows cousin Dashiell having a gambling problem. Fifty bucks was a lot of money in those days; and he placed his bet on Marian's notion. I have a problem with the writers, of this show. Why is Peggy the one to be so forgiving to Armstrong? Why is it on Peggy, to be tolerant, and magnanimous? I have seen this in so many other movies, and shows, where the black person is the one to be merciful, and understanding. EVEN WHEN BEING MISTREATED! Why is it on us? I had a major problem with this scene.
Remember when Mrs. Bauer owed a gambling debt of $50 to some shady mob adjacent ruffians and Aunt Ada had to pay them off?
I thought that $50 was a little extravagant for a tennis match.
Peggy? She's a top shelf human-being, I don't think it has anything to do with race.
She obviously grew up in a loving Christian home. I am surprised that she is an
only child (in that era, not common, ditto with Marian) But Julian Fellows can't fill
us in with the tiny details of all the characters' background.
Re: Black people constantly being portrayed as forgiving, even in the face of the most vile treatment: religious conditioning for the purpose of control. We've seen this play out in real life, usually to our (Black peoples') own detrement.
Good job and crazy scandals Lol. I finally found the book I was looking for by BerNadette Stanis and I just got it in the mail. 😁💙🤗
Hello Ti and replay chat👋🤗
Hey Puzzle Pieces ❤️❤️
Watson revealed that his son in law is offering to pay him off and set him up with a monthly stipend, a paid for house and a cook, butler and valet if he moves to San Francisco
Peggy shouldn’t be none of her concern. If I were Peggy I wouldn’t give her a second look.
I totally agree!
Something tells me Peggy is going to help Armstrong with her sick mother. Maybe get her mom some meds from her dad’s pharmacy. And that’s when Armstrong finally accepts & respects Peggy.
I love this prediction! And I have thought about that too! I think that you could be onto something, Kenny.
@@TisHotMessHistory I doubt that. Armstrong clearly does not want anyone to know of her poor background, especially Peggy.
Also, I bet she secretly wishes for mom to die and she'll not let anyone to know.
In fact, Armstrong keeps her occupation and residence a secret from the tenement residents.
Omg it’s all about her I don’t like Armstrong 5:47
I don't either. I wonder what they will do with her character going forward.
It’s not just you I feel that way too 6:51
Armstrong is exhausting!
I definitely think Agnes would be very upset if Ada was in a relationship and possibly could leave her. She wouldn’t except that very well at all and she doesn’t except change very well. I honestly don’t like cousin Dashielle for Marion. He is so..boring to me and I’m wondering about his gambling. Armstrong is naturally hateful, but oh my goodness! Her bigotry, I would say is uncontrollable. Agnes didn’t mince words when she told Armstrong to be nice or your fired. She even cried, but that didn’t stop her from being absolutely horrible. I was glad to finally see Peggy put Armstrong in her place. Bertha needs to get In gear and hire her own Ladies Maid. Lol… watson’s son-in-law probably wants him gone and maybe try to guilt him into leaving his position. In the next episode I’m curious to see if Turner will be making an unpleasant appearance.
I think Adelheid will be fired for blabbing about Turner being in the Russels and Armstrong fired for being a racist and will end of trading jobs.
That would be interesting. I have to say though, I think that Bertha would want a younger maid to dress her because she wants to keep up with the fashions.
I'm going to use your comment in an upcoming fans predictions video. Thank you!
@@TisHotMessHistory you are too kind. It is odd how gossip is just lightly used in this series. There is no way that all of these ‘secrets’ in the Russell household wouldn’t have gotten out by now. Faux French Chef, failed banked now Valet, sacked Ladies Maid now brand new wife and none of this is out? And gossip was enough to get the wheels rolling for Turner’s firing which shows that gossip was taken very seriously back then. The newspapers were relentless too. Just nuts.
Wanted to thank you for doing such a wonderful job and while ill. Hope your health is restored soon!
I truly thank you for your kind words. I am enjoying reviewing this show with you while I'm sick, but I am doing my best to get well@@pNo415.
You are SO right about the newspapers! The Brooklyn Daily Eagle would have had a field day with the Russells. Hahahaha!
And I'm working on the video that will have your comment in it today@@pNo415.
