- Alabama's new head coach Kalen DeBoer has arrived in Tuscaloosa from Seattle. The former Washington coach accepted the job today after Nick Saban's retirement this week (Patrick Greenfield | PGreenfield@AL.com)
As a Husky fan I am not bitter, I get the business and opportunity, just this arrival fan turnout to show appreciation for him taking on a huge job is why I see now how important CFB is to Alabama. Congratulations Roll Tiders, take care of him and give him time and patience, he's got big shoes to fill! Thank you DeBoer for making UW great and bringing us to the Natty Championship! Best of luck in Alabama,Roll Tide and GO DAWGS W!

I already like this guy just for saying YES. To follow Saban will not be a easy job but he said Yes. Love the crowd at airport in the middle of the night shows him how important this job is.

Shit u Wish chump. This guy is a proven winner and has won with less talent on sheer coaching by having more ingenuity and discipline. He beat oregons ass twice last yr and just took wash to the ship with a bunch of 3 stars. Also u have to consider the 12 team playoff. This really changes things cus it’s takes a lot of the pressure of running the table in the regular season. Now u can have possibly up 2 and maybe as many as 4 some yrs ? Kalen with a pissed off Bama team in a 12 team play off. I love our chances. You’re prob an auburn fan. Roll Tide and I love drinking au tears.
This guy won in places nobody ever expected victory and did so with limited resources. He just landed and became part of the team with the most titles in college football history. You have to wonder what's going to happen when he gets his hands on the Alabama brand and it's resources.

After all these years, Alabama having a head coach not named Nick Saban seems crazy.
Thank god this is our coach. I felt bad about Lanning and Sark and from the get go I thought Deboer is who I hope got the job. His offensive and defensive philosophies are so similar to Saban's and Alabama has the players on the roster to take advantage of his system out of the gate. I see easily 3 National Titles in the next 10 years with this guy as head coach. Not Saban level but a good continuation.
When I saw the lists of replacements for Coach Saban and Dabo and Jimbo were listed I thought oh, dear God no! I can't help but think Saban has a huge hand in DeBoer being hired to replace him. I'm happy with our new coach and wish him all the luck.
He aint ever been nothing but a winner. Of course you can't upgrade from the goat coach. But I do like this hire.

I wouldn't say next year. They still have to learn new systems with new coaches. Year 2 should be special with this guy at the helm though. If he can make Washington a winner he will have no problems in Tuscaloosa.

Watch Saban's Rece Davis interview and it makes a lot of sense given his comments about making sure the changes in football don't take away opportunities for athletes in other sports.

Yeah it's definitely tough especially with all that coming an a new HC coming in. But college football as we have known it is no more. With this NFL type system we're moving into, any team that gets through the season with 2 or 3 losses will be doing awfully good, it's going to be the new undefeated lol

My only expectations for a coach of this caliber, since it’s going to be a 12 team playoff moving forward, I expect him to keep us in the mix every damn year.
