I liked the video for Rise Against
Gotta test with something good!
song only reason im in the comments.
Same
Thanks for the review
Another solid review.. really enjoy your vids. Got mine yesterday still quite user friendly but for some reason I cant get apple music on it. Any suggestions?
I don't understand the comments about the screen washing out in the sun. I live in Phoenix, Arizona - 300 days of sunshine, at least, per year and I haven't looked down at my Q Explorist once and not been able to see the screen.
My favorite watch I ever owned was an original Big Tic that I bought with a gift card I found on the ground. That's the only face I use on my Explorist, so far. Very happy they included that.
I love that this thing is just a good watch first and a wearable comm device second. I'm glad it has no GPS or NFC payment. I don't mind pulling my phone out for payment and I don't navigate with my wrist raised to my face.
If you buy this watch make sure you turn the auto-Wi-fi off or you'll end up on Amazon reviews bitching about the terrible battery life. I get up at 4:15am and go to sleep at 9-10pm every night and there's always juice left when it hits the puck.
Granted there are plenty of great wearable devices that do more than the Fossil Q Gen 3 watches, I feel like the Fossils - particularly the Explorist - are the best smart WATCH for the value on the market.
Great video but AMAZING TASTE IN MUSIC
Probably the only good reviews I saw of this watch
@lohtec Hey man, thanks for the review. How did you get it so early? I got mine a couple of days ago and really like it. I wanted to say that I think the mushy middle button was by design. I accidentally kept engaging it when using a screw driver at an awkward angle and realized it lets me trigger the watch face one-handed without gestures. I now regularly do this when I want to see the info on the watch face. I could be making all this up, but it seems to be useful either by accident or intentionally. Anyway, keep up the good work.
+Michael Fu Useful for some, deal breaker for others. Such is technology :-)
Thumbs up for Rise Against!
Thanks for the review. Does the crown clicked by mistake summon google assistant?
+Tobia Loschiavo nope, you need to hold it in to load Assistant
If i have an iphone 6s is there anything i can't do on it? will i get notification from snapchat?
Is it okay to charge overnight or is that going to kill the battery faster? I just bought one to replace my Moto 360 which has major battery issues after 3 years and I was told could be because I overcharged it while I slept
Modern batteries have overcharge protection so charging overnight is now recommended (and needed on this watch). Most batteries start having issues between 500-1000 full cycles so 2-3 years if you start charging at near empty each night. But how long it is on the charger won't change that.
How does this compare to the Samsung Watches speaker and feature wise. As short as your video is, this is amazing. thanks so much.
+Our Blended Baseball Team speaker is definitely as good, although with Samsung it works best with a Samsung phone. On other phones not all features may work, but it depends on which watch and phone.
Does the crown rotate to allow navigation without touching the screen (is to scroll thru Notifications, App List, etc)?
It does
Did you buy a Genesis longboard? I saw the notification on your Fossil xD
Genesis heat gun. Sorry to disappoint :)
LOHTEC hahaha darn. I ride Genesis every day. Also great video!!
can i wear this with a small wrist ?
Would you recommend this or the huawei w1?
Probably this, but just because it's newer. W2 would be better if you are ok with how it looks. Fossil has many design choices.
Does the Fossil Q Explorist have always on display like the Gear S3 or does the screen always stay dim?
Most watchfaces dim, but you can change that if you want.
Can this be charged on any Qi wireless charging pad?
Doesn't look like it. Put it on a Qi pad and it didn't do anything, though it looked like it wanted to since the connection light kept flashing.
So can you make or receive calls with this watch either iPhone or Android phone? Do you need a separate line with your cell carrier to make and receive calls? I've heard that if you have iPhone you have to add a line which is stupid.
On an Android you can take phone calls on your watch like you would a bluetooth speaker. I don't think that works on iOS. This watch doesn't have LTE so no option for separate line.
Bingo thanks
Great video.
This has an ambient light sensor yes? "auto brightness"
Also, does anyone know if this uses standard QI charging? Can I use my old Moto 360 V2 stand with it?
It does have a light sensor. As for Qi, not 100% sure. I put it on my phone charger and it seemed to do something, but the charge symbol never appeared.
Nice. Good to know. Thanks!
Does the smartwatch have a brightness sensor, so that the display lighting is adapted to the daylight? How long did the battery last for normal use?
It does have a light sensor and the battery should last for 24 hours. Your watch face and notifications will eat into this, but a typical morning till night day should be easily doable.
LOHTEC
Thanks for the answer! Do you know what kind of glass is used?
I don't think they listed it, but previous watches were alkali-aluminosilicate so something Gorilla Glass 3 level or better.
LOHTEC thanks!
Finally decided to get the all metal version and then pick up a couple of different colored leather bands as the oem metal bands are hard to get and expensive. Also have to pick up a 5v 750mAh wall charger.
Hi, thanks for the review, but I have a question, the battery is for 24 hours, BUT with the screen always on or off, I like the Always screen on like a regular watch, did you try it??
I tested with screen on but with wake on gesture disabled. "All day battery" is more like 18 hours.
LOHTEC I really like the smartwatch, I don't want nfc, monitor heart sensor, this is the watch for me, but the battery is a problem, I don't want to think all day, of the battery dies, do you know about another smartwatch like this one, the same configuration but with better battery?
+alpacino1976 not really. Most other ones will have more features and cost more. Maybe look for a Ticwatch E when those start shipping.
I am testing the Explorist now. Beautiful watch!! Let's see how the battery life goes. Huawei Watch 2 is another option. It last about 2 days plus fitness features. Screen is small though.
alpacino1976 I share your needs in a smartwatch also don't need heart rate sensor and NFC. Another option I guess would be the Asus Zenwatch 3. I am at the moment comparing these two
Does turning the crown affect the UI in any way like scrolling through menus?
+545347645production yep, crown scrolls. Pressing down on it goes back though instead of selecting what you scrolled to
LOHTEC great, thanks a ton!
Can we make & answer calls directly on watch (not on phone) ?
Yes
Can you charge with any wireless charging pad? or just the fossil charger
It's possible another one would work. I tried a generic Qi charger and it looked like it was trying to work, but the watch never said charging. Possible the coiled area was too big.
i wanted to charge with my moto 360 charger
What are you using as your charging brick? Have you tried a higher output wall charger?
2 amps at 5v.
what is the application for Music sir
I used Google Play Music
Do you know anything about the gear s3 frontier and if all models are lte?
+two415dude2 I think there are only LTE models
There are lte for verizon and I think sprint and non-lte models. Just sold my gear. Liked it, but not a fan of the Tizen operating system. Also drained my phone pretty fast.
CAN I READ MY MAILS ON THIS WATCH OR USE OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA MESSAGES ON THE WATCH OR JUST ONLY NOTIFICATION
It depends on what apps you install, but usually just notifications or small portions of text. Whatever is shown in the notification on Android phones.
Hello right now it's 179. At Macy's. Is it worth the watch? Can I reply to text? Does it run android2.0. Can I change music with Pandora
All the Gen 3 watches are good, just depends if you can live without GPS and NFC. Yes text, Yes 2.0, Yes to Pandora.
LOHTEC thank you for the speedy reply
Thanks for a great presentation!
I purchased same watch to run with my IPhone 7. Everything works quite good but the "contacts" show just 2 although I have much more.Do you know how to get my contacts at least my "favorites"? As I understand pretty much is based on Google&googlemail so if I want to see my mails from yahoo....is that possible?
Would appreciate a lot your thoughts about this. Keep up the good work,Thanks.
Hey can you tell me what the deal is with using the Fossil Q with an iPhone?
I'm thinking about using it but I currently have an iPhone 6s and want to switch back to android again in the future anyway. So what's working with the iPhone and what isnt?
Buy an Android device. Trust me guys... I'm a doctor.
you're a doctor .......... well that settles it! lol
Do u need to open another phone account to receive calls or text?
no, it uses the phone number from your Phone.
hi bro. i got one like this but i cant send message or make a phone call ?
iPhone or Android?
Can’t you just switch the crown to the opposite side ?YESS technically wearing it backwards but I’m pretty sure that function is in there, that optional function is in most smart watches !
+David Baylon there are some apps to help do that, but that feature isn't part of Android Wear. So no you can't really do that.
there is a heart rate monitor at least on mine i have the stainless steel 1 exploits gen 3
The Fossil Q Control is the only Fossil Gen 3 to include a Heart Rate monitor, while the Q Explorist and Q Venture do not. So you have a Q Control. That one is also 50m waterproof.
Do you know if it has a gyroscope and/or compass? I find them particular useful for maps.
As far a I know it does at least have a gyroscope but no GPS.
How is the UI is it smooth
As smooth as most smartwatches. Most have the same chipset. I normally move the animations to .5x to increase speed, not smoothness.
Can you use Spotify on it?
+Rob Grove controls, yes. Offline music, no.
No GPS? One of the advertisement photos shows Google maps front and center.
You can use Google Maps and it connects to your phone's GPS.
LOHTEC thanks
i would love it its just too expensive
+The Aviation Geek the Misfit version starts at $199. Internals are the same, but design is different.
Take a look at the ticwatch e. Looks a bit more simple but with a metal band it definitely looks luxurious. And it only costs about $160 on Amazon
ruclips.net/video/Uh7yZW6HgMA/видео.html
Dude you didn't demo the middle button is also a digital crown and turning it will scroll the screen so you can read notifications and scroll app list without obscuring the screen with your finger! This is the feature a lot of wear watches are still missing and a definite plus here.
If you are still looking at this watch, it is currently $200 on amazon and BestBuy!
How can i listen to music or make and receive calls
There should be a phone app, a media player app, and a Google music app on the watch
Hi! Do you know how it works with IOS? thanks!
I mean, I know the watch is compatible with IOS, but you can use all the tools?
Most tools work, but it still has a few limitations due to Apple not letting 3rd parties use the call API, etc. Works great for notifications and tracking.
if youre doesnt want to illuminate youre watch you also have the sleep mode just in the top menu
+victor rubio yep, but sleep mode is disabled as soon as you press a button.
Hi greatings, i need help how to use music and play on the fossil gen 3??? Anyone ....
I used Google Play Music. The app on the watch.
LOHTEC oh i see thanks 4 the info.. i will try it first..
You missed one of the biggest improvements. The main button(crown) can be rotated to control the interface much like the apple watch. It's hard taking your Review serious if you don't seem to get to know your review devices.
Except for that, it seems like a fairly good review
+MatureManure showed that in an earlier video.
i have less than $200 to spend, if i was willing to buy used what would be the best smartwatch I could get?
Probably still the Huawei Watch 2: www.ebay.com/itm/New-Huawei-Watch-2-Sports-Smartwatch-45mm-Plastic-Carbon-Black-Android-iOS/232615361819?epid=2282706770&hash=item3628f4bd1b:g:0ssAAOSwPpZaSWvW
would the hwatch 1 still be comparable? i prefer the looks of it over the 2
Still a good watch, but doesn't have many of the newer features like NFC and heartrate. Expect the gen 1 to lose support first too, but it would still work.
oh. is there anything like the gen 2 but with classier looks?
You can try the Huawei Watch 2 Classic, but those are normally just over $200. www.ebay.com/itm/Huawei-Watch-2-Classic-Smartwatch-LEO-B19BRN-Titanium-Gray-Brown-Hybrid-Strap/332571038480?epid=5006318626&hash=item4d6ec75310:g:l~8AAOSwtoNakrrS
Great vid but the backround music was annoying and distracting. Would be great if you could not put in music and would listen more to what you are saying.... thanks
Noted. Should probably change the music up
oh cool
me likely
Can't believe you missed the biggest point of the new fossil watch THE FLAT TIRE IS GONE. And who puts their watch on so tight on the wrist that it doesn't move a bit on the wrist to keep you from accidently pushing the button?
+Troy Engstrom I don't. And I mentioned that in the first look video.
Have you ever had a smartwatch with such a "flat tire" screen like the Moto 360? Because everyone I know complains about it without ever having owned one, and I really don't care about it even though I use my smartwatch every day.
I had this watch for a couple days. I triggered the middle button dozens of times every single day. It is a dumb design.
@@AdamHoooot let me guess, you prefer apples shitty products, clearly you dont get that normal people wear watches tight enough not to slip down
Is it waterproof
Resistant
What is the resolution
+Alex Baker I don't think they ever said. I'd guess 400x400 or higher
Thanks for the reply
So I've bought this watch but have ran into a big issue. It's paired with my Pixel 2 XL and when I receive a call and answer it on my phone I can't hear the caller. However if I answer the call on my watch it's fine. I've contacted fossil support and they've just suggested to switch the feature off. Which is obviously not the answer as it should work. What's more if I toggle play Bluetooth phone audio on the watch off and on again, I'm able to answer one call on my phone where I can hear the caller, then on the next call it's silent again. Is anyone else getting this problem as I'm now close to returning this!
You probably have it set to where, if you answer the call on your watch, it stays on your watch. I disabled that function.
LOHTEC yeah not sure how to do that though and fossil support is zero help. Personally I think it's a bug with the watch as it functions correctly for one call if I toggle Bluetooth and then I get the same issue with subsequent calls.
On watch: Setting>Connectivity>Bluetooth>Play phone voice call on watch
LOHTEC but that means when you.answer the watch it roots to the phone. I thought it'd give you the option of answering the call on your watch and then taking the call on it. Or if you want answer the call on your phone and taking it there. I thought that was how it was supposed to work, unless I'm misunderstanding it completely and you can only do one or the other?
Voice calls on the fossil watch happen only in zero degree sound. i.e. Where there's no bg sound to disturb. Elsewhere it works fine
Size of the display? 1.3, 1.4 inch?
+Waylander 1.4
I'm thinking about getting one of these, but I have a few questions.
How water resistant is it? Can I wear it in the shower?
Is it possible to swap the strap out? I prefer metal or plastic to leather.
If I get a notification such as deviantart, will I be able to read it? I don't really care if I can't reply.
Speaking of deviantart, do you know if it can run deviantart? Again, I don't really care if I can't answer a message, I'd mostly just wanna see it so I can reply later.
It''s IP67 which is water resistant, but technically you shouldn't use it in the shower since it isn't rated for pressurized water. Maybe if you had a rainfall shower head? The strap is standard so you can use whatever you want. And you can reply to notifications as long as the app supports it. Good rule of thumb is if you can respond from the notification window, you can respond on the watch.
I'd be on the lookout for deals around that time, but I've seen it go for $200 with coupon codes already.
How to switch off the watch ?
You can do it in the settings
Press the middle button long enough. It will switch off then.
dude this watch have GPS option
Dude, I need to know the main differences between Gen 2 and Gen 3. I only know about the flat tire thing. I searched the whole internet didn't find the PPI for gen 3.
I haven't seen it officially listed anywhere, but the resolution is at least 400x400 and I've see reported 480x480.
Thanks, what else because I am in India and Gen 3 costs double from gen 2. I need some solid reasons to buy gen 3.
Yeah, don't get a Gen 2. Screen is terrible on those.
You mean to say gen 3 is realistic like some analogue watch?
I love my 2 gen fossil watch. More so than my 1 gen.
Can you navigate to a destination using google maps?
Yep
LOHTEC but I swear it doesn't have a built in gps
It will use your phones GPS.
LOHTEC cheers for being so quick to respond !! Lucky as I had to order it today
Tom Burnett do you like it?
Can you use this watch with an iPhone?
Yep! You do lose a few features, but works well.
LOHTEC wow that’s great. Okay so are you still able to log onto social media and use that? Or only get notifications for calls and texts?
Yep, those work as they are apps installed on the watch. You may get more details here: www.wareable.com/android-wear/google-launches-android-wear-for-ios-1603
LOHTEC perfect! Thanks so so much!
What ??? So it doesn't have GPS ?
Nope.
this watch have GPS option..u gotta download that from playstore..the only option it doesnt have is heart rate sensor
what about the calls.. can i recieve and talk?
On Android, yes.
thank you. and one more thing.. there are no other good smart watches in its range right? like samsung gear, huawei, moto 360 gen 2 are overpriced right?
wait so $250 for a watch is considered low end... sooo what is a high end smart watch?
Something with more features like NFC and LTE.
The $2,200 Tag Heuer Connected might be a tad bit higher end
Does WhatsApp work on this SmartWatch?
As well as other Android Wear watches: www.stuff.tv/sg/features/how-masterandroid-wear-20/19-get-whatsapp-ready
If you have WhatsApp messages from more than 1 contact and more than 1 message from a contact will it show all the threads and messages or only the last one?
Nitish Reddy Katapally Good Question 🤔
I found the specs for this smartwatch. Display is 1.38 inch with a resolution of 454 x 454 and the battery is 370mAh. Here are the specs for all Android Wear smartwatches:docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lbKhNnFBARrT5TVo3bkyp1UzT0S5Iahy3W9dAQf_sfc/edit#gid=0
Thanks homeslice
DUDE! 10/10 if this info is correct! Thanks
The information is correct. Take a look for yourself:docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lbKhNnFBARrT5TVo3bkyp1UzT0S5Iahy3W9dAQf_sfc/edit#gid=0
since when was the crown of a watch supposed to be "clicky?" wtf this is a watch maker crowns aren't buttons, even if this one is.
But in this case the crown IS a button, one you need to use often. And buttons click.
