Nice to see someone documenting the Gen 3 this far long. This was my first smart watch I got on clearance for about 100 USD when the Gen 4 was in full swing. I went to Versa 2 to Gen 5 to Active 2 to a GW 3 to a GW 4 - I still have my Gen 3 (and a Gen 4 I got on clerance hardly used it) collecting dust albeit in my draw.
I notice you had WiFi on your watch on hence the battery drain maybe? Mine would probs still last all day I don't think the battery is that worn out but I haven't used it so long. It was a shame this watch didn't have NFC but I like it more than the Gen 4 as it has a speaker and microphone but with how out of date the security patch is maybe its not worth anymore.
I do miss however Fossil smart watches but the GW ones work the best.
I 100% AGREE! It looks so pretty which is why I keep the old boy (even if its not in my fav colour, I used to have a silver model but the gold one is okay ig) yeah its crazy ppl are charging 100 to 200 for this thing, The major issue I don't charge it up IT TAKES FOREVER. I love how it has induction charging but it takes 3 hours, I acc like the Fossil charging rings cus magnetic connection is so much faster. Good luck if you're able to sling it but maybe just keep it I feel since it probably is the most pretty Gen watch they made. (The hand wash app came years after by google for the pandemic which is why its so terrible its not like the apple watch where it knows youre washing your hands).

I think Fossil don't charge a lot to replace the battery on these, I've seen people on reddit saying they were charging them about 30 USD which is quite nice.
Oh final point as for even your Gen 5 having a weird eco system - Wear OS 3 should be fixing all this, but the Fossil Gen 6 is still to receive this and then Gen 7 might even come out this time of year. But when it does, I'm sure youll love a Gen 6 or Gen 7 as the OS should be perfect google intergreated and fixed and Fossil will have their own app for the watches not use the generic wear os for google app - take a look at the Mont Bloc summit 3 for how that will work.

I plan on doing some more testing with the battery, so far you are right about the wifi, with it off it lasts so much longer.
I think my next watch will be a GW over fossil.
I agree and will keep it, I love the color.
Yeah, I noticed the timing of the handwash app, I still hate it haha.
I do love that metal band and actually would love to get it, I think it looks great with the crown color.
If its only 30 I would change the battery, I will have to go into my nearest fossil store and ask next time.
The Mont Bloc summit 3 looks REALLY nice, don't know much about it and will have to look into it more.
