- Knife of The Year 2023: Golden Designworks Caliber Review. This is the second design from Golden Designworks and once again I love it. This time not only did they bring us a good looking design but they also added some innovation as well. The bte thickness will be the same on the production version. The grind is not being changed at all. 20 thou is just the measurement I came up with and wrote down on the spec sheet, and I tend to go up a little higher just to be conservative on the thinness.

I LOVE the idea of a button/frame lock. All the strength/detent/action of a frame lock with the touch of a button. Brilliant.

The texture like the James Brand Barnes and the multiple deploying options plus the multiple locking mechanisms makes this knife off the heezy fa sheezy.

That being said I’m loving the knife. I also bought the standard like a year ago and it makes one of the best edc’s
Only thing I regret is getting the blue fluted instead of the blue golf ball like on my standard. I was worried about cleaning all the little divots on the golf ball style, but I’ve never had an issue with it on my standard

If you've waited to pull the trigger you're SOL they're all sold out although his site states more "might" be available "later". I wish my Standards had that fusion lock that's brilliant.
Awesome review here, simply top shelf covered everything. I would have ordered if the Caliber had a little belly to the blade, for me that held me back.

I think I'd like the Diamond pattern more. Titanium can get pretty slippery and I think this would be really good for grip. I haven't seen much of this pattern. Maybe the Grimsmo but its quite a shallow texture and doesn't add much grip.
After you've received yours, put it in a tumbler after an eight hundred grit hand rubbed finish. What's better than the combination of features here? Not sure...
Definitely going to be grabbing one. Leaning towards the fluted smoke version currently, but might be swayed by the limited edition.
All good choices! The grey dlc wears great and does have a sort of feel like stassa was saying. We’ll have to see how the LTD looks 😉
@@goldendesignworkswould love to see a different blade finish on the LTD. Love to 2-tone, but maybe something like a polished stonewash on the bevels instead?
That lock is awesome! The other benefit is that it has good acoustics. Most button locks don’t have good acoustics. For me it’s just so much more satisfying to hear that frame or liner lock in.
Exactly! Acoustics and feel. That was the idea behind it. All button locks to me were kinda meh. I like the heft feel and sound of a frame lock, and a big blade just makes it that much better.

Site says they're all sold out. Was on the fence anyway because of clearance, and the bte thickness, and that it will thicken up too quickly. Also looking for a maxed out HRC. I've been looking for a magnacut knife that's perfect for me, so i guess the search will continue...

Finally a full size and I love the whole design except for the big finger choil, that killed it for me.
What's wrong with a choil?
Why lose 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch in blade/edge length to "choke up" on a knife, design the handle right in the first place and there is no need to choke up on it@@natehoover5266

it's a good looking knaf but i could do without the button...

They should have reversed the blade finish, satin on the lower, bead blast on the upper
Really love the design but, as is, it's simply too big to suit me. Make it a 'mini' with a 3.25"-ish blade and I'd be on it like a duck on a June bug.
There are so many 3.25 knives out there. I'm happy this is bigger than the Standard
I’d be happy to make a smaller version of this knife in the future! Try to make options for everyone so this time opted for something bigger
