Now you understand my pain as an antiques restorationist,..LOL .. look at the beauty and craftsmanship all that paint was hiding, those grains and quality of wood from old growth forests and the craftsman who built them.. we will never ever see again.. except in restored pieces. new forest growth will never look like these pieces, It darn near brought tears to my eyes watching you two loving restore the gorgeous old gal..lol
I just bought a Waterfall small 3 drawer dresser that has been painted. I want to restore it to its original life. This video has really inspired me. I've never done one. Any advice Kelly?
Oh my. You two really are WARRIORS Most refinishers would have painted over everything and called it good. It was a pleasure watching you. Thank you. It’s a winner in my book
I just love Art Deco furniture and design. I’m so glad you took that white paint off. It’s a beautiful piece. I just don’t understand why someone would cover up all the outstanding designs on the dresser. It’s positively painful thinking about it. I adore this chest of drawers, it’s a shame I can’t own it.
It'a a lovely piece. I have my great grandma's water fall set, but it is probably maple and has no distinctive pattern or grain, no inlays. So I'm probably going to paint it. I sure wish I had your talent! Good work!
Wow what a great find underneath all the paint! Always a 50/50 chance between something damaged and a hidden gem. So glad you found this hidden treasure! Beautiful restoration! I bet it helped warm up the garage using the heat gun for all that paint 🙌
This is such a beautiful swan! It was so poetic watching both of you, so lovingly and so carefully bring this beautiful swan back to its former glory. The best of luck to you both. This is an absolute winner!!
Probably someone young who wanted to update their grandma’s furniture they were given. I confess to painting a waterfall vanity white, and to add insult to injury I painted an antique cherry dresser white to match. I was 18 though, and the cherry dresser was rough. Hope someone restored it. But I need to be beaten with a stick for losing the bronze hardware.
@@Tenebarum I understand if the finish is in bad shape. I don't know what the 18 yr old me would've done. I've been given a tiger oak dresser and buffet, and a couple old dressers I can't find the makers mark in and a matching koehler dresser and vanity set with a seat. I will not paint them, or restore/ replace the mirrors. I know at ** yrs old I won't paint them under any circumstance. But I know enough now to not paint them.
So happy to find a channel where you reverse the damage done to an awesome piece of furniture. Your back breaking hard work and talent turned it back to the gorgeous masterpiece it was meant to be. 👏
Настоящий шедевр! И вы спасли его, воссоздав снова после вандалов, закрасивших такую красоту. Спасибо Вам за это спасённое чудо мебельного искусства ❤️
This is what I call a restoration. Most diy restorations on youtube consist mainly of stifling the beautiful warm wood of the piece and burying it under layer upon layer of horrible tacky paint. This rejuvenated cabinet is truly adorable. Thank you! 👏👏👏
Wow!!! You guys found an amazing gorgeous hidden gem under that paint!! What a labor of love but the results are absolutely stunning! The pulls you chose are beyond perfect for this timeless beauty. Stunningly gorgeous ❤️❤️❤️You did an Amazing Restoration .. the surprises never stopped from the beautiful top to the bottom of those stunning unique gorgeous feet!
I saw that starburst and it nearly brought me to tears. My great grandmother had an identical waterfall dresser in her home when I was a child. Unfortunately when she passed, the family split her home furnishings up among themselves. Her dresser went to my older cousin, who painted the dresser black and gold.. I saw it once after and it made me physically ill. I found out later, she donated it to the goodwill, I hope someone saved it and made it half as beautiful as this one. Thank you for saving this one.
And just like that, the ugly duckling became a beautiful swan!! It amazing me how anyone could cover up such an amazing piece of furniture with paint. You guys deserve a great big pat on the back for saving this gorgeous piece of furniture.
What a fantastic result. This is an antique that should be loved and handed down. The wood details that you found are priceless. You both did such a great job. It will be a lucky person that ends up with this special piece.
I’ve watched hundreds of furniture restoration videos and have never seen such stunning reveal under horrid paint. You really brought a piece of history back from the dead.
You guys did an amazing job on this piece! This is an incredible dresser and what you did to restore it was so well executed! Your color combination on the stains, your selection of hardware, even your attention to the sheens of the finishes was perfection! Excellence!🌸
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for restoring this lovely lady to her former glory. It was a lot of work, but the results were with it. I hope she finds a home with someone who will love and appreciate her.
I cannot believe anyone would choose to paint that chest! It almost made me cry as you uncovered the beauty of the wood grain and workmanship. The original maker of it was probably flipping over and over in his grave as the paint was applied...
I love that yall restored without painting! I do love painted furniture, and I know that damage to old pieces makes painting their salvation, but, I see beautiful antiques painted and I want to cry! Beautiful job!
I felt so relieved knowing this piece was in your hands. See, I managed to edit out the profanity that began to sunami as each section was revealed to have it's own gorgeous personality. What a knockout!!
Wow....wow...WOW!!!! You found a diamond in the rough and you truly gave it new life!!! Definitely a labor of love and it paid off!. Just gorgeous!!!!🔥🔥🔥
Look at all the beautiful wood tones in that piece. In another 90 years, it'll be painted and then stripped again, probably, as tastes change! You've made this incredibly beautiful.
So nice to see your appreciation of the beautiful waterfalls veneer and the inlay was a surprise jewel. Why would anyone ever paint such a gem. Thank you for bringing this piece back to its intended glory. What a nice job you two did.
Who could have thought there was such beauty underneath all that white paint. That wood is gorgeous. You two have done a wonderful job in making this poor unfortunate painted piece into a thing of delight anyone would love to own.
THIS IS THE TRUE MEANING OF UGLY DUCKLING! TURNS OUT TO BE BEAUTIFUL!!! ALL THE HARD WORK N EFFORT U BOTH HAVE PUT INTO THIS N ALL UR OTHER VIDEOS. I ENJOY WATCHING U BOTH. SUCH A BEAUTIFUL COUPLE WHO ENJOYS EACH OTHERS COMPANY N CRAFT. I VOTE FOR U GUYS. GOOD LUCK AND SUCH A BEAUTY U BOTH CREATED
When I first say the paint I almost cried, what a horrible thing to do. The chest looks beautiful now and the detail in the wood veneer is fabulous. What a terrific job!
Wow,,,who would have ever thought this beautiful dresser was under all that ugly white latex paint. This piece is absolutely gorgeous and yous did a fabulous job restoring it. Was definitely a lot of work, but so worth it in the end. Yous couldn't have picked more perfect hardware for it. GREAT job as always Jim and Cindy. Enjoy the rest of your day! 😊
What an epic restoration, all that scraping of paintmust have taken hours. I am in the process of doing the same to an old 1930 dresser, someone just had to paint every surface white!!! I have found beautiful drawers underneath very similar to what you found, it makes my heart sing . Great job guys ❣
That was a tremendous amount of work and dedication. Its beautiful and it rolled back time . Why would anyone have ever painted such a wonderful piece of furniture. Ugly duckling no more.
OMG!! You rescued an absolute gem. What a gorgeous piece. That hardware is just amazing. What a wonderful transformation from a dull white piece to the glory of Art Deco. Bravo on a wonderful piece! I've watched most of these and I think yours should win. Hands down.
This is so gorgeous!! I'm all about painting furniture but this was shameful to watch the white paint that covered that beautiful detail in the woodwork. Marvelous!
I know it was a ton of work but such a lovely surprise to find such detailed wood grains and veneers underneath. Thank you so much for this beautiful restoration! Winner, winner for sure! ❤️

What a labor of love. Gorgeous. You rescued something really special. I am scratching my head at the barbarian who put latex paint on that beautiful inlay.
It turned out so strikingly beautiful. I just refinished a shorter, dresser, in that style. When I got past the many coats of paint, the veneer was splitting lengthwise . In the end it was painted. But I love taking it back to it's Glory days.
I have a waterfall bedroom set which is so beautiful. Every now and then I think of painting it but I just can't bring myself to do it. You took on quite a project and should get the award for perseverance. It looks lovely.

Thanks Kelly! It was a lot of work, but so much fun finding the surprises under all of that paint!
I kept saying "wow" all throughout the video. To find such a beauty underneath, all that paint broke my heart.
Ugly duckling has become a stunning SWAN!!!
Yes! The roaring 20's has made a comeback and she's a true beauty!
What criminal put paint on this beautiful grain? Beautiful job bringing it back

Between the heat gun and our heater, it was 70° in the garage despite the 17° outside! Thanks Jenn!
It’s hard to believe that someone covered up that beautiful piece with that ugly white paint. You two did a flipping awesome job!
Thanks Kay!

We can't stand the thought of these ending up like this or worse, in the trash. Glad we could save it too! Thanks Jaclyn for sharing your story!
The mineral spirits showed how the wood would have looked without staining, which was stunning. What made you decide to stain?
We really thought about just doing a clear finish but the top was off color from the drawers. Hard to tell sometimes on camera. Thanks!
And just like that, the ugly duckling became a beautiful swan!! It amazing me how anyone could cover up such an amazing piece of furniture with paint. You guys deserve a great big pat on the back for saving this gorgeous piece of furniture.
Beautiful! Perfect example of how paint CAN have a positive-side! It protected all that stunning wood underneath!
Yes it did! Thanks!
