That's honestly the only thing in the game more confusing than Samus' PTSD moment. As least Phantoon somewhat made up for it in the end.
If they were literally gonna humanize Mother Brain, I think one thing they should have done was give Mother Brain her own power suit. And I know what you're thinking: "and make it yet ANOTHER mirror match?" Not quite; MB is a clone of Mother Brain, not Samus. Find a way to have MB tap into her inner Chozo origins and gear up out of nowhere. Samus can take on and off the power suit at will, so maybe MB can have one as part of the Federation's experiment. She'd be just as agile as Samus making for a very intense fight and justify Samus confronting her. And I am sure some if you will say that Mother Brain is more of a leader type and it wouldn't make sense for her to have a power suit. Well, explain her monster form in Super Metroid! Also... to think I used to DEFEND Other M. I mean, the gameplay wasn't bad for the most part, and it was cool that they brought back Nightmare and Phantoon. But the more I thought about it, the more it sunk in that they bastardized one of my favorite video game characters and one of the most badass and awesome heroines in gaming by far, making her into a situationally-helpless anti-feminist mockery (whether purposefully or not), and the more it PISSED ME OFF. Add to that the inexcusable final boss "battle" and I can safely consign this disgrace to the Infinity Void with Gorea. (Also, slightly off-topic, but am I the only one who prefers the wild-haired and muscular Zero Suit Samus from Fusion over the finalized version we usually see? >.> )
Yeah. Other M has some of the worst storywriting in gaming history. Not to mention they absolutely botched Samus. At least the gameplay is ok. Just be glad you weren't defending Mega Man X7. That would be completely unforgivable.
That's what we're saying. Good play and design, but character portrayals were absolutely horrific. At least it isn't X7, tho. That one's bad across the entire board.
+XZeroStone It could be worse. He could be trying to defend a Yu-Gi-Oh opinion against Daviantor who seems to think that being 100% objective makes him immune to criticism.
10: Yeah. At least Platinum fixed him. 9: I'm kinda disappointed by the lack of Power Rangers "Make My Monster Grow" jokes. 8: Not disappointed by the Spongebob joke. 7: Wasn't he in FFVI and did the same thing as well? 6: Not surprised this was here. 5: At least it's the first boss (except the "refight"). 4: I'm noticing a trend here with normal monsters gone big. 3: Who was the "genius" who thought of that name? And World 5?! And DKC1 did the Big Enemy thing with every fight?!! 2: "Boss Fight". 1: I would've just taken a monster rush of whatever the bug things were called. An it's not considered OK on any planet. Just on the Bottle Ship.
Just stating though, the Clown Prix/Krome Keeper (take your pick) from Pac Man World were also dumb boss fights, but for very different reasons (one of them isn't even a boss, it's an easy race that's classified as a boss)
Reactions no-one cares about: 10: I dunno if I want to say anything about Pokemon bosses, since Bosses in Pokemon are generally just several pokemon fought one after another. 9: I knew I would get angry at this list. I think the Mettal.... Met... Metal..... Erm.... the Hard Hat Daddy is brilliant! ...In concept. The boss itself kinda sucks, but the idea behind it is good! ...In my opinion, that is. But nobody cares about my opinion. 8: Ok, That IS pretty dumb. 7: That would actually be pretty clever if there wasn't a harsh time limit. 6: Final bosses that don't attack you are just lame. Unless it's Gradius. Gradius gets away with it. Somehow. 5: How did I not guess this was going to be on here? I need to play more Zelda. 4: No comment. Nothing to add to this one. 3: Ditto. 2: FISHING: THE BOSS BATTLE! ....That was a really bad joke. I'm sorry. I just didn't want to say ditto again. 1: You know, I actually like Other M. A lot. Yeah it's very flawed, and its story sucked, and its controls could have been better, but beneath all that was a pretty good game. Admittedly, that's mostly because it's my FIRST Metroid game. But I still think it gets too much hate. BUT MB SUCKED. EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT BOSS SUCKED. I hate it. I HATE IT! I died SO many times to the Queen, got to MB, and died a lot in that fight. And I died some more. And I started getting really angry because I didn't want to take a break and have to fight the Queen Metroid again. And then.... AND THEN.... I looked at her. I LOOKED AT THE FINAL BOSS, BY ACCIDENT, AND WON. What. WHAT?! THAT was the final boss? I didn't even see that coming. That shouldn't have been the final boss! That had no build up! There was nothing indicating that I was about to fight the final boss AND THEN I WIN BY LOOKING AT HER. You don't even get to fight her. She gets killed by some jerks. You don't even get to fight the final boss. ARGHERERSATERSMTHSS! Other M was ok but the story was a trainwreck.
The Game boy port for donkey Kong country 1 does have an interesting change up for Dumb Drum. After you defeat the enemies it spawns and tries to stomp you... A TNT barrel shows up and you have to chuck it at him to do damage
Final boss from Overlord 2. It's an enemy rush, a slime, and it is five long an tedious stages. The eleven weak points that you have to destroy multiple times every stage even heal if you take to long.
My favorite RM has to be Gravity Man, my favorite MM game has to be X5 (my favorite classic series game is 7), and my favorite maverick is Sting Chameleon.
RM: If fanmade ones count, then Rainbow Man from Unlimited. But from the official, Dynamo Man from &Bass. Game: Classic- 8 X- Either X7 or X4. Zero- 3 Legends- haven’t played. Starforce- 2 BattleNetwork- Transmission or BN6. Advent > ZX. Maverick: Flame Hyenard. Yeah, I like X7. It may be hated by most people, but, hey, that’s your opinion.
Coincidentally, Roger the Potted Ghost is the only boss in Yoshi’s Island that’s not based on an enemy. It’s based off... a flower vase. This game had a variety of enemies, yet they couldn’t come up with one more to put in World 2-8 as a boss?!
I can understand the time limit on Gogo because you can drown. Also, Flint’s not the first trainer who usually uses one type and barely used another type unless there was no choice like Agatha or Lance to use other types. (Coughs) Pokemon Stadium Gym Leaders. (Coughs)
Don't worry. Even these Guys have Adoring Fanbases for them. Every Boss Type has their Fans Honestly, And I Think that's Great. ^^ (Hell, Even I Love these Types of Bosses due to what they can get away with, Weather it's their Design or how you have to fight them.)
The Bowser Jr boss fight in Mario Party 9 should have been on here. A completely luck based boss?! As if Mario Party wasn't luck based enough! Didn't you already talk about that boss in a previous countdown? Or am I thinking of a different countdown maker?
He mentioned it during his ancient Most Hated Characters list (Bowser Jr. was on it). It's possible he either forgot about that boss (which is likely, as Mario Party 9 is kind of unmemorable in general) or he felt that these other bosses deserved their spots more. Personally, I probably would have replaced Flint for that "boss" minigame, but it's his list.
Well with Flint from what I have heard his Diamond and Pearl fight is harder then his Platinum fight. I wouldn't know since I never got to the Elite Four in DP and only fought him in Platinum.
Saphiria TheBlueDragonKnight His fight in DP is only hard if you don't have a counter for Drifblim. You likely already have a counter for his Infernape, Rapidash, and Steelix at this point in the adventure (especially if you chose Piplup at the start), and his Lopunny isn't exactly a threat. Drifblim can be annoying if you have neither a Dark, Ghost, Ice, Electric, or Rock type Pokemon, all of which Sinnoh gives you quite a few of even in DP. I'd hardly call it a harder fight, even if his Platinum team is monotyped.
You know what's funny? I would need 2 flame shields to say that I like Bowser Jr. and Mario Party 9. You know what's even funnier? One time, during the story mode, I finished his boss mini game with 39 points. Everyone else had 0. HOW DID I EVEN-
There’s Another big slime boss, King Slime from Terraria, but King Slime has a bit more than just jump around, if you get too far away it teleports to you and a bunch of normal slimes follow him. The way to spawn him is to hard for like, one of the easiest bosses in the game, though it drops my favorite mount so I guess that’s fair
I think the Chu Chu as a first boss isn’t as dumb as it first seems. Think about it: Link has been shrunk down, meaning things larger than him are even more threatening than if he were larger. The Chu Chu looks goofy and silly, but think of how it looks to Link from his new perspective. He sees a giant imposing creature, and if he sees the face, it isn’t just dopey-looking; it’s uncaring. For Link, he realizes something important: EVERYTHING IS DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE SMALL. If it was a later boss, it would fall flat. If it was something that looked scary, it wouldn’t have given the same impression because of course Link is dealing with something dangerous. That was why it had to be something that looked as nonthreatening as possible, to show off that danger. I hope I have changed some minds about that boss. And if you disagree, I will gladly hear your reasonings!
10. It is sad they had a Fire Elite in such a cold region, but IIRC, at least his other Pokemon had some form of Fire attacks. That's... something. Also, the Ice and Electric Gym Leaders had Pokemon outside those types in Diamond and Pearl (Candice's Medicham and Volkner's Ambipom and Octillery), but the same elemental logic applies. 9. I actually like Mega Man 4, but I can admit this was a dumb boss. 8. Maybe if those flames were faster or if Roger didn't push you immediately after spewing them, he could've been some kind of threat. 7. 6. Unlike 7, I won't say anything not because it's funny but because I have nothing to say. Haven't played Crash Bandicoot since I was... seven, maybe? 5. Not sure if this boss is really that lame, considering you have to fight it in a different way than you're used to fighting it. 4. Salvo will see you in court, Max. 3. Enemy Rush / 10. Maybe it could've been intimidating if they used Krushas (or whatever the buff mohawk Kremlings were called). 2. At least Amy's one boss was an actual boss fight. 1. I'll have to replay Other M at some point to re-evalute if it was as bad as I remember. When the game was first released, I actually disliked the Sensimove gimmick, the QTEs, and the controls in general (in addition to the sketchy story), giving me a much lower opinion of the game than everyone else seemed to have (many I knew would say "at least the gameplay is good", and I would respond "Not really"), but I should play it again to give it a fair shot. But even if my opinion does rise, this moment still seems worthy of ire.
Another comment said he worked at WayForward Technologies in the past. If you've played a licensed game on a Game Boy Advance or DS based on a cartoon series odds are good WayForward worked on it. They've also done the Shantae series and DuckTales: Remastered.
Say what you will about the Sonic Adventure games, but SA2 will always hold a special place in my heart for being my all-time favorite Sonic game in the series. ;)
You know QG with all the praise you give bosses, I have heard you give any love to the megaman zero bosses, other than omega. You gotta correct that man!
Hey QG? Can #1 even be considered the final boss of the game? Because there is another boss you fight after this one that the game poses as the true final boss of the game.
That you can't even fight if you go on Hard Mode. And lets be honest, why would you play Hard Mode in Other M? I mean, sure, there are those who like it, but there's literally no point to it.
One other idea of a dumb boss is to make you do something that you weren't expected to do throughout the game. For example, stealth segments in an action game suck. But the opposite is also true. In the case of Deus Ex Human Revolution, prior to the director's cut, the problem was that the bosses were made by designers who didn't know Human Revolution was mostly a stealth game. Hence why you fight them like you would in a Rainbow Six game. In that you need to shoot, take cover, shoot, take cover, repeat. But even if you do take cover, the first boss especially will overwhelm you with his own onslaught. Again, the problem was fixed in the Director's Cut which gives you the option to hide and work your way around to the backrooms and get some auto turrets which further highlights how vanilla HR didn't quite take stealth builds into account.
It's not exactly rocket surgery, people!

each job has positive and negative stat modifiers, the Mime job takes all the positive stat modifiers for each mastered job, and once mastered it gives this effect to the Freelancer, so mime with its 3 skill slots is the best mage job and Freelancer is the best phisical or hybrid job

6:58 Still my favorite joke in this entire video.
I don't get the joke
@@voltrus3783 "Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing." Look it up.
Gogo is a great boss, in my opinion.
The way I see it for #2, Big’s actions clear the way for Sonic to have HIS fight with Chaos 6. This changes absolutely nothing though.
10. BURRRRRN!!!!!
9. Why is this a thing?
8. Memes.
7. LUIGI WINS BY DOING NOTHING.
6. Run away, don't wait!
5. TIMBER!!!!!!!!!!!
4. It's also SOOOOOO SLOOOOOW!!!!
3. A giant barrel.... Really?
2. That was even stupid, even I can't forget him...
1. HOW IS THAT EVEN FUN?! IT'S ANNOYING! Samus returns did that much better...
Didn't the Giant Metall boss return in Megaman ZX?
yes as a very fun mini boss(until you get model P).
Naw, I can come up with worse, a goomba, however it dies in a pit due to the stage design, than you have to answer an question, and if you guess wrong, it erases all your switch data.
Do top 10 worst ending in mystery games endings
Also... to think I used to DEFEND Other M.
That would be completely unforgivable.
other m is a Good GAME
but is a SHIT story
That's what we're saying. Good play and design, but character portrayals were absolutely horrific.
At least it isn't X7, tho. That one's bad across the entire board.
+XZeroStone It could be worse.
He could be trying to defend a Yu-Gi-Oh opinion against Daviantor who seems to think that being 100% objective makes him immune to criticism.
I don't play or watch Yu-Gi-Oh, so I'll have to take your word for it
Surprised you opted for the Mettool Boss from MM4 instead of Toad Man from the same game, seeing as how much more notoriously easy he is.
toad man CAN be your first boss on the playthrough
Toad Man can be easy, but he's not a dumb idea.
I have to disagree, fight toad man on the Sega game gear.
+ShardOfOmega Besides at least he has a Acid rain attack which could represent him being a toad affected by pollution.
Hey, Soulcalibur 6 is coming next year. Any thoughts?
I know some people like Other M, but I never get tired of hearing people bash it.
If I may add to number 1, that can potentially suffer the same fate as number 2.
Note to self, swing by the children’s hospital when I get the chance to see what I can do to help
He was an optional party member in FFVI.
Just stating though, the Clown Prix/Krome Keeper (take your pick) from Pac Man World were also dumb boss fights, but for very different reasons (one of them isn't even a boss, it's an easy race that's classified as a boss)
7:00 Do you nair a lot or do you spam side b and try to misfire?

Reactions no-one cares about:
10: I dunno if I want to say anything about Pokemon bosses, since Bosses in Pokemon are generally just several pokemon fought one after another.
Other M was my first game too
Ironically the MB fight was kind of a relief of the hell I went through with Queen Metroid...
Let me just say that I really appreciate you adding the song names at the bottom left for each segment.

17:21 Oh hey James Rolfe! Didn’t see ya there!

Aw yeah, Mega Man hype!
Minus Bros. Favorite RM? Game? Maverick?
My favourite Robot Master is Tengu Man.
My favourite game is Mega Man 8
And my favourite Maverick (between X1-4) is Spark Mandrill.
Game: Classic- 8
X- Either X7 or X4.
Zero- 3
Legends- haven’t played.
Starforce- 2
BattleNetwork- Transmission or BN6.
Advent > ZX.
Maverick: Flame Hyenard.
Yeah, I like X7. It may be hated by most people, but, hey, that’s your opinion.
Uh...HOW do you like Hyenard?
I remember watching a video of other M's cut-scenes and thinking about how anticlimactic it was.

DORARARARARARARARARARARRARARARARARA!
DORYAH!
(Coughs)
in the GBA version of the dumb drum fight, you had to throw barrels at it when it slammed on the ground. at least you had to fight it directly then
i'm really surprised that you didn't have the 3rd boss fight with orochie in okami
They never fixed Flint but PLA tried to justify the Lopunny by giving one to his ancestor, thus making it a family tradition.
When your best friend tells you something so immeasureably stupid: 16:56 - 16:59

I think a certain hot blooded pilot would like a word with Dr.Willy about this "Metonger Z"
Did you just pull the "Inhale Boi" meme?
Crazy how it says Go in the description and there was an ad for Pokémon Go before the video started.
Funny how I somehow knew Metroid: Other M would be next on this list right before you said it
My favorite boss fight is my science class.
My least favorite boss fight is my English class.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Fun fact: metonger z is actually based on a classic mecha series called mazinger z
Commonly credited as one of the first "super" robots
Ah, that mecha anime with that theme song written by guys who later made a song for a Transformers Japanese dub.
You developed games? Cool! What exactly are they, I would love to check out your work.
Another comment said he worked at WayForward Technologies in the past. If you've played a licensed game on a Game Boy Advance or DS based on a cartoon series odds are good WayForward worked on it. They've also done the Shantae series and DuckTales: Remastered.
Fun Fact: Other M is no longer a part of the Metroid canon according to Nintendo.

Holy Jenova, no Jasper Bastard Jr?!? Damn, QG, did you give it some Sympathy this time?
Daemon Feldman I think it's because it wasn't a terrible idea for a boss as much as a horribly made and executed battle.

*"We should take (Automated voice) Roger the Potted Ghost (Automated voice end) and push it somewhere else!"*
Hey QG? Can #1 even be considered the final boss of the game? Because there is another boss you fight after this one that the game poses as the true final boss of the game.
+Jack The Lightning Ripper Phantoon feels more like a post-game boss who has no bearing on the story.
Ah.
That you can't even fight if you go on Hard Mode. And lets be honest, why would you play Hard Mode in Other M? I mean, sure, there are those who like it, but there's literally no point to it.
Considering you can't even actually get any expansions on Hard Mode... that's really all you need.

*inhales deeply*
BOI!!!!
We have very different definitions of dumb bosses.
Your definition: The designers were stupid
My definition: The boss itself is stupid
The Sammer Guys from Super Paper Mario.
Step 1: switch to Bowser.
Step 2: use that platform Pixl.
Step 3: spit fire.
Step 4: done.
About Dumb Drum: hes actually different in the gba port in that you have to throw tnt barrels at him after clearing the enemies.
Dumb Drum isn't a character. It's a Noah's Ark of the Kremling troops that has two of almost every kind of Kremling enemy.
