CUMBERLAND HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE

A two-storey wooden and concrete house in Cumberland, Berbice that was occupied by Jamaludeen Mohamed has been destroyed by an early Monday morning fire. Mohamed, 48, occupied the house for the past four years. His cousin, who resides overseas, owns the property. Firefighters responded to the blaze sometime after it started but there was little they could do to save the building or its contents. Two agricultural machines, worth millions of dollars, were also torched. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
