So proud of you!!! Watch PassioKnit Kelsie’s vid for this cardigan. I love how she closes her sleeves-game changer!! Love how yours turned out!! Great job!
"Shes almost the same height as me... She's 11. I dont wanna talk about it." This made me laugh! You did a great job with this, especially being your first official garment. I'm definitely guilty of making the hexagon cardigan multiple times. (3 times so far with a 4th WIP.) It's fun, repetitive, easy, and the result is so good! It's one of those I want it in every color kinda pattern for sure!
I've made the Hexi-cardi, but I did it in Moss stitch, and I seamed up the sleeve portion at the correct arm size and then continued working in rounds to expand the body. It made it such a beautifully fitted cardi with minimal sleeves. I fell in love with this (but only in moss stitch) haha.
Oohhh... I was thinking once I finish mine I like the concept and was trying to think of other stitches to use instead of granny. Yours sounds so pretty!
I am absolutely the same. The second something gets popular, I can’t bring myself to try it. Even if I used to love it.. I’ve always loved the Bridgerton series of books, but the second they get made into shows, I can’t bring myself to watch. Same with Game of Thrones. My family calls me the Queen of Contrary. The cardigan looks amazing! I’m making a linen stitch blanket with that same yarn (the Royal Silver and Graphite Frost color ways) right now, but you’ve got me thinking about making a wearable.
Your cardigan is beautiful. I’m working on some hexagon cardigans in Christmas colors for my daughters and me. The first one has balonney sleeves but I’m calling it a work in progress. I was working on my second plus a knitted blanket while watching your video. I bet your sweater will be all the rage in school!
I made one of these when I was still in college with the halo Caron yarn. I ended up adding pockets inside and out, as well as a pen holder and lighter pocket inside one of the pockets. I love it!
this turned out so stinkin cute, you look adorable,, i am in a lot of crochet facebook groups and in awe of how many people jump on the current trend wagon, i usually stay in my own lane with things,, i want to make on of these but i am very plus size so i doubt i could make one fit without needing a whole yarn factory lol
I absolutely love the way the colors came out on this and for your first full garment, it looks amazing. I was actually working on starting my fifth hexagon cardigan while watching this lol. I’ve made three so far for me one for my sister and one for my daughter. The one for my daughter is an almost floor length duster with bell sleeves, however all of mine are way shorter. My favorite part is the balloon sleeve with the cuff bottom, and my favorite one that I’ve made so far is kind of a pastel sunset ombré and then I put a bunch of sparkly star and cloud appliqués on it.
I've been working on a 6-Day Star Blanket, based on the 6-Day Star Baby Blanket but larger. It's not my first forray into making blankets and such, but it's proving "just what the doctor ordered". I also did the Coccoon Cardigan (as a gift) and though it didn't turn out perfect, my Mother loved it and I was happy I made it for her after Christmas last year (just in time for her birthday in February).
My current project is a simple throw blanket using the Wool Ease super bulky recycled acrylic and wool yarn, this is my first time working with a bulky yarn and a big hook and it is SO different from working with my usual medium weight yarn and small hook but so fun! Also I recently got a couple cats and am honestly kinda looking forward to ami-ing them a couple lil toys out of pet-friendly materials!
I had some perfect phasing cakes sitting on a shelf, so I ended up pulling them out right after watching this! I'm now drafting my own hexagon sweater pattern with it ^^
I love how it came out! That yarn is SO nice to work with, but I haven't washed anything I made from it yet...look at what it says on the label for their recommendations. I love hexi cardigans and have made several. The first time I started one, I only did five rounds instead of six and didn't realize it until I was about twenty rounds in! LOL Now I make sure to count six on my first row. 😆
I'm so glad I came across your video! I've crocheted afghans, hats, scarves, baby blankets, and a few other items for the past 14 years, and recently have started making amigurumi. Wearables has always been on my list so to dip my toes into the world of garments, I thought I'd start with a mesh sweater. I love how this cardigan turned out and I've already saved the pattern. 😊
Way to go on your first finished garment! It looks amazing. And to answer your question, I'm working on a large blue baby blanket! Almost done....... 😅
Get a paper towel holder to put the cake on. It's easy to move around. That turned out really nice. Being old now, as a kid, all we made was granny square style things, so by now, I don't make anything with granny square types. 😮 I do love your yarn choice. I'm currently making stuff with the colorama yarn. It's so soft.

Stuff like this is fantastic and adaptable and I'm 100% pro simple "just go until it's big enough" patterns. Your version looks fantastic. For washing, your yarn label should have recommendations. Should have stuff like whether or not you can machine wash or dry. I also very second the idea of making up a swatch and running that through the laundry to see what happens. And my usual strategy for hand made garments is to machine wash them, but then lay them flat to dry
It turned out beautiful. Been wanting to make something similar, but hand issues right now so it will have to wait. I am also a shortie, I completely understand the sleeve thing mine are also always rolled up.

I just recently found your channel and have been watching many vidoes since! I love your style and how you do your videos! I think you did a wonderful job for your first sweater project. I might have to try out this pattern since it seems like it works up so quickly. Ive made other cardigans where you do the arms, front, back, and ribbing all separately and sew it together at the end, and this seems so much simpler to do. And also love the yarn you used! While watching today im doing some market prep and sewing wings onto some dragons ive made
The cardigan turned out so cute! I’ve actually been working on my first hexagon cardigan as well. Almost done with it, want to wear it for Thanksgiving so I’m getting really close 😅
I’ve crocheted one cardigan and I made up the pattern as I went along so it’s a bit weird. It’s got a collar, ribbing. A pocket in the side seam and a tie around the middle to hold it shut. Yours looks lovely. I’d not heard of a hexagon cardigan so it was interesting to see yours come together. If I wear big open sleeves they catch on everything so I like your idea of the decrease and the ribbed cuffs. I use front and back post ribbing and that looks really good. Where do you live and what was the animal in the park digging the hole? It’s wallaby’s, goannas, echidnas and snakes where I live. 🌈🦘
@@Soffity I live in Oklahoma! Those are prairie dogs! They are SOOOO cute. I should have left in some squeaking sounds they make. The animals around you sound so cute too!
I am the same way. When it’s popular I don’t want to make it. I’m also the same way with books, movies, and tv shows. Still haven’t seen Game of Thrones 😅
I do the same thing, when something becomes popular I tend to stay away from it… Seeing the 6-day star blanket everywhere has me avoiding it like the plague.
I just finished mine a few weeks ago and i love it but it just took me so long, i started it before winter and didn't finish until summer (Australia lol) so now i cant even wear it until it starts getting cold again 😭
I am working on a hexagon cardigan too. I've never made a wearable. How do you decrease for the cuffs? I've been crocheting for almost 50 years. I've mostly made blankets and amigurumi.
The comment of your daughter being 11 and almost the same height as you is hilarious to me because my mom and I are basically the exact same height. We're only a fraction of an inch apart in height. While watching I was working on granny squares for a blanket someone commissioned from me
That is so cute! My older daughter will for sure be taller than me. My younger daughter is pretty tiny so we will see where she ends up. You never know!
I’ve got some lovely Australian cotton yarn grown and made here. It’s great for amigarumis in fact it’s great for just about everything, I’d be happy to send you some if you would like and you can give it a go on your channel and see what you think. I’m just a hoi polloi everyday person who has no affiliation with anyone. One crocheter to another across the ocean. Let me know what you think.

While watching today im doing some market prep and sewing wings onto some dragons ive made
@@BaileyButton11 it is so simple. I was shocked! Thank you for your kind words about my content 🥹
The cardigan turned out so cute! I’ve actually been working on my first hexagon cardigan as well. Almost done with it, want to wear it for Thanksgiving so I’m getting really close 😅
@@JupitersRing711 best of luck! I am gonna rock mine for Christmas with the fam 😎
i just finished my own cardigan 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁and it was also a hexagon cardigan/sweater
@@GabbyGaburieru yay! Twins!
Im washing dishes as i watch today's video lol
I do the same thing, when something becomes popular I tend to stay away from it… Seeing the 6-day star blanket everywhere has me avoiding it like the plague.
@@DreamlessDays86 literally same 😆 I would probably enjoy it but I just can’t bring myself to make it
I’m in the process of making a cardigan now. It’ll be the first wearable I’ve made for myself
@@barbied4473 awesome!!!
This yarn washes up extremely well, the halo effect gets amplified after laundering so it gets fuzzier in the best way!
Oh that is so good to know! Thank you!
Hello i am a new sub! i loved ur vid. Felt like i was at home . :) . I am trying to crochet a Shawl ( made out of granny squares)
What a sweet comment! Glad I made you feel that way.
I just finished mine a few weeks ago and i love it but it just took me so long, i started it before winter and didn't finish until summer (Australia lol) so now i cant even wear it until it starts getting cold again 😭
Oh no! I think it helps that I used bulky yarn but I want to be brave and use thinner yarn next
@@Tfwcrochet yeah i used a dk weight, I'm definitely planning on using something thicker next time
I feel your pain on untangling yarn. That is how I spent my time watching this video!
@@bookwrm100 glad to join you in an unpleasant task 😂
I am working on a hexagon cardigan too. I've never made a wearable. How do you decrease for the cuffs? I've been crocheting for almost 50 years. I've mostly made blankets and amigurumi.
@@sharonmarks I just decreased around first until it was how I wanted it and then added the ribbing.
I would hand wash it because I personally hand wash all my crochet!😊❤
I’ve got some lovely Australian cotton yarn grown and made here. It’s great for amigarumis in fact it’s great for just about everything, I’d be happy to send you some if you would like and you can give it a go on your channel and see what you think. I’m just a hoi polloi everyday person who has no affiliation with anyone. One crocheter to another across the ocean. Let me know what you think.
That is so kind of you! I would love to try it. Can you send me a DM on Instagram and we can work something out?
Where did you get your arm rest pillow!?!
@@joisherman9293 it is called a boppy pillow! I thrifted mine.
I looked it up. Ribbing on the hem of a garment is just called a ribbed hem
I was thinking waistband, but that is much more flexible.
Google Briar Cardigan. It’s a free pattern. It’s even easier and more customizable than the hexi.
I saw that one when doing research. I might have to make it next!
@ I made the hexi first- my first ever clothing. But I’ve made the Briar cardigan 4 times since then. All slightly different.
Border?? Is that the word?
