I loved when they played Whale & Wasp the other night. I had no idea it was on the setlist, so it was a nice treat for me. This song has always pulled at my heartstrings in some inexplicable kind of way. That wailing guitar riff has such a longing, yearning feel to it, almost like a desperate cry of life itself. It's like the soundtrack to the pain and beauty of existence. I also love how the song has such a distinctive sound that you know that nobody except Alice in Chains - and Jerry Cantrell in particular - could've written it.

i was practically 2nd row of GA and gotta say whale & wasp was the song of the night. an incredibly rare song for them to perform through their prime with layne, in their resurgence with duvall, and especially just jerry solo. plus it’s a personal favorite of mine since forever, bravo for filming this.
