First time I heard this song after watching John Wick 2. When the song came playing. I felt I was safe at home but sad and teary eyed. Then a voice started singing. So familiar that I felt goosebumps. It's Jerry Cantrell. Thank you for always making good music. Helps Me a lot through hard times.

Great movie and amazing Musician. Jerry Cantrell has to be my most favorite Guitarist, and when by the side of Layne or Will he is pretty unstoppable and unmatched. Though by himself he is still a force of awesomeness that is uncompared.

But there's also Kevin Martin from Candlebox and Zach de la Rocha from Rage Against the Machine still kicking, even if they're not with the same bands or lineups anymore. But of the ones who were widely popular, Eddie and Jerry are really the only ones left, now that Corgan's gone off into left field.

yes. just watched john wick 2. wasn't sure if alice in chains (newer or what) a couple minutes on the google and I got here. really cool song. I'm not an alice in chains follower so much but i love their sound. this song is authentic and very welcome.
The song was released just before the movie, so of course I went to the movie opening night to hear the song during the credits. I definitely felt the Alice vibe but it is unmistakably Cantrell, I love it!

Degradation Trip blew Boggy Depot out of the water, in my opinion.
they're different. I love both. But D Tip is just intense from the first song to the last. 25 really solid songs.
@@Banana_Split_Cream_Buns Boggy is more commercial and I still love that album but Deg Trip is more personal to Jerry. I don't think its Alice (although you can argue that they're both the same since Cantrell was AIC's main songwriter) Deg Trip was Jerry's biography in songs. Sad that Jerry no longer listens to his Deg Trip stuff and won't tour it despite being urged by both Bordin and Trujillo. Cantrell has said that it was a very dark time in his life when he was writing Deg Trip and something he doesn't want to revisit any time soon.
Actually got to see the Degradation Trip tour in 02. Highlight of my concert going career.

DeathVerse09 Not possible because this isn't Alice in Chains. The other songwriter is Tyler Bates who works mostly with Marilyn Manson. The instruments are also not played by AIC. Would work better on a Cantrell solo or Deg Trip 3.

michael iwaniec I don't think so. Jerry was president of his HS choir and often competed in choir competitions. Everything about harmonies he learned there. Layne only encouraged him to sing more. Cantrell always saw himself first as a guitarist and a singer out of necessity but Layne encouraged him to sing more.

Hope he comes out with a new solo album. Jerry is my favorite out of the 90's music. Loved his first solo album.So Wick kills a boatload of people because someone killed his dog in the first movie. I heard in the new movie, someone kills his cat. In the third movie, someone kills his snake. Hope the new movie is an improvement. I cut you in Jerry.

Its time for Jerry to get the recognition he deserves not just for being responsible for all of Alice In Chains songs and majority of their lyrics but also as an amazing guitarist and an equally talented singer. It was Layne himself who encouraged Jerry to sing. He clearly heard something there. So about time we just complement Jerry and not bring Layne into every single discussion about Jerry or AiC. Let's move on.
Layne is amazing for sure but always remember Jerry always wrote 90% of all his music with Alice in chains, the harmony was his idea when layne pushed him to do more vocals because he thought he could sing
@@thrall343 True story... Lane is a legend; however, most people don't know that Jerry wrote most of what Alice played and set the tone for the band. Jerry was the lightning and Layne was the thunder.

Well, personal opinions but as a musician and music in general I prefer Jerry Cantrell. Slash is a better guitar player (technically) but Cantrell is more complete as a musician (imo ofc).
It's like saying "best band ever" or " best guitar player ever" dude their styles are drastically different... can't compare either one really to anyone else they both have such signature sounds...(my personal favorites actually)
