I listened to other tracks from this same concert. It is a nightmare. Everyone is singing over the top of the band. And one guy is clearly blasted and singing off key.
Thought your comment read "it sounds like the 90s" and even though it doesn't say that... I do think it does! I don't know why but that song just sounds like that decade somehow
At about 1:59 when the guy recording said "whale and wasp" it looked like jerry smiled and nodded at him slightly. I got the feeling it was because he heard someone recognize the song and this wasnt exactly one of their hits. I'm sure people usually want rooster or man in the box or would or angry chair or down in a hole. All their songs are great nonetheless
I got the same sense, I think a lot ot people like the tune but few can name it. To me it just makes me think of Layne and all the people I know that died too young.
@@alanwashstuff216 well it does to me, the first time i heard it i thought of aa funeral and a sort of menancholy sense but everyone is sort of happy because they know whoever died is in a better place because they were a good person despit the flaws.
Yeah they're up there loose and having a good time but those bends take precision and focus from both geetar players and the rest of da band. Sounded eargasmic.
Was search for a rock station while driving and the dial rolled to the classical stations and this has just started playing. After the song was over, the host started complementing the band on how they had created a modern symphony classic. AIC will always be my favorite band.
Such an underrated masterpiece- the metaphors, the themes, and that unique AIC sound unlike any other (but in an unexpected way as the lack of human- thats right human- vocals as instead the musical instruments imply the whale and the wasp are the vocals) make it absolutely God tier
If I had to pick one song to listen to for all eternity!!!! This would probably be my pick... I can promise it would be an AIC SONG WITH THIER ORIGINAL LINE-UP
Absolutely breathtaking ❤️ I wouldn't be able to stop myself from crying during the entire performance. And I love how much Jerry is into it, he feels every ounce of his music.
I love this song , it’s beautiful and haunting , but somehow it sets you at peace , I catch myself listening to it different times of the day at work , Thanks Cantrell Hope you don’t leave for awhile but I wish Layne was still awhile , wanna see the original lineup so bad , there was prolly nothing like you and lAyne on the same stage
Fantastic that there is a live version of this piece and I'm grateful for this upload. So THANK YOU.....but.....the second guitar lead isn't correct notation and that one line backing up Jerry is crucial to those phrasings. It doesn't go the 1 in harmony - it goes to the 6. Landing on a major 6th down from Jerry's 4. But whatever.
Could’ve done without rude captain obvious narrating, but this was an outstanding performance of this song. And Jerry wasn’t flat as some other internet guitar hero commented. 🙄
Its so the guys in the front can hear their instruments. It basically isolates the drums. The drums are mic'd anyway so the sound is mixed and balanced together with the rest of the instruments by the sound tech.
@@wgb01001 lol i played guitar at a gig with a coverband about a year back and our drummer had to be enclosed due to SPL limits in the venue. I'm usually right next to him so it was a relief actually, i could hear him fine through my monitor.
@@drspritz He should be shame of himself.. He's wearing the same clothes Layne wore in the acoustic, trying to make the same facial and body expressions. Total lack of personality.
How dare the crowd make noise while the lord of guitar is playing
That same guy needs to shut up

He was flat on those string bends.
Whale and Wasp is such a beautiful song and it must've sounded so good there. Lucky guy you are to have Jerry Cantrell play Jar of Flies to your face.
Such an elegant composition. Says so much without any lyrics. What a band.
Song without singing is not the song :)
A true work of art.
Yes
one of the best instrumentals ever
I wonder if that gave a certain black-haired guitar teacher called M. the inspiration to cover that in a video. 😉
Yes!!!! 💜
💜💜💜💜
My mom loved this song, she'd listen to it a lot after my Grandmother passed away. I listen to it a lot now that my mom has passed away.
Stay strong brother! I’m sure how happy she is knowing that you like this song so much as her.
I’m sorry☮️♾️🖤
I’m so sorry 🖤
This song breaks my heart when I hear it, have no clue why has no sentimental value of anything, first time I heard it in the early 90s I just hurt.
We all feel the same way.
Thought your comment read "it sounds like the 90s" and even though it doesn't say that... I do think it does! I don't know why but that song just sounds like that decade somehow
it's a heartbreaking beautiful piece of music
Holy shit if your not covered in goose bumps and wet in the eyes at this moment your alien!!!!!!!
such a sad song and it doesnt even have lyrics
you can feel the raw emotion
I love it probably my top 5

It sounds like a funeral song

Jerry’s guitar is crying and I have goosebumps all over my body 🖤🖤
My all time favorite instrumental
The more I watch the more I love Jerry's guitar playing...ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFULLY HAUNTING PIECES OF MUSIC EVER MAID
I couldn't agree more!
It would be an awesome funeral song
I want this song to be one of the last musical things I hear in my life before I die. it's amazing

Love this song! so chilling and creepy
Minute 4:10 🖤. The man feels it in his soul. Jerry, my love!
Jerry is the man -the myth-the legend. This song is awesome along with every other song he wrote.
The song is so chilling and so beautiful so seamlessly. Good song writing.

This song is lovely and it breaks my heart every time. I can feel the pain in every chord.
Amazing! So jealous!💚
👍👍🤣
THIS is music!
Y'all lucky to see this song live by Jerry!
😂😂😂 we all agree with u! 😁🙌🙌
beautiful! Jerry’s sound is so unique.
Solo un genio como Jerry es capaz de crear una canción instrumental tan hermosa y con tantos sentimientos de fondo... Amo esta hermosa canción 💜
This should have at least 1 million views
...and on that night, there were many utterances of the phrase, "Yeah, dude..."
OH MAN. GOOSEBUMPS. I for one, would love them to do an all instrumental EP - Jerry could go all over the place with that!
Hermoso!!! Que afortunados lo que estuvieron presentes en estos shows 🖤🤘
De acuerdo! 🤘
You don't hear alot of people talk about an instrumental but this is much more than that and im glad people recognize it
Just amazing!
Honestly, Jar of Flies is my favorite old AIC album ❤
Jerry you broke my heart ❤️😢 love ya 😢
God how I love this tune. Its beautiful man.

This song really translates well live. It’s beautifully surprising
💚🙏
Fuck yeah dude
This is the only video I can find with a live performance of this song! Did this ever get played live by Layne much???
That woman spent more time on her phone than listening to the song. Take a shot every time that guy yells yeaaaaa.
There's a guy beside him trying to dress up how Layne did at their unplugged show
Well, if it was on purpose, thats a pretty cool tribute to Layne 👍🤘🤘
I think that’s William
@@justinmeditation what? No lmao
@@soundgardenfanforlife2152 It really isn't.. it seems more like he's thinks he can replace Layne Staley by copying the things he does
Is that James Lomenzo on bass? If so, that guy is God, he's everywhere!
Wheres the rest of the gig?
Lane is always there.
Totaty underrated song.. But i love it
This version of this song .is perfect for William duvals contribution as their singer
That's Tyler Bates on the far left, ain't it?
yes
very nice...everybody sad kkkkk
Hahaha that girl in the beginning said "got me wrong" and i guess they really did got her wrong!

I wish, I would have been a teenager in the 90s, listening to this on CD player.
Pretty awesome of Jon Bon Jovi to be a roadie;).
Why is the drummer being preserved in a glass box?
Its so the guys in the front can hear their instruments. It basically isolates the drums. The drums are mic'd anyway so the sound is mixed and balanced together with the rest of the instruments by the sound tech.
