When I think of my ideal tone with a fuzz, it”s these guys. You can still riff with it, it doesn’t fall apart but it has it’s got the perfect wooliness and the leads retain meat and definition. Man, Bob has really turned into a world class rock guitar player. He was good when he first joined but has really grown. This band live, is indeed the shit.
What I love about Fu Manchu fuzz is that somehow it's both clean and muddy at the same time. You can easily discern notes and riffs, which is not so obvious in stoner doom genre. And yet, it's still fuzzy, dirty wall of sound

Without it I would have never known about Sleep, Kyuss, Nebula, the Sword, Elder, Wo Fat and so many other great bands I've discovered over the last 10 years. Thank you Fu Manchu and thank you RUclips for restoring my faith that there IS still plenty of good music being made today.

Bob is such an underrated genius on the guitar! i could just watch him for years doing his thing and it would not get boring! That guy is off the chain!
Godzilla was a great song in it's own right by Blue Oyster Cult, but when Fu Manchu got a hold of it they made it even better. I also like the studio version they did.
I saw Blue Oyster Cult do this live for the tour when it first came out....UFO on their Strangers In The Night tour opened for them.... Fu Manchu does a good cover....
I called the local radio station in Asheville/Raleigh NC 20 yrs ago asking the DJ to play some Fu Manchu and he said I don’t know who they are...never heard of them. I told him they fuckin Rock and he needs to play their songs.
