Always loved this Movie and it was so underrated as an epic car chase movie , Not to mention all the memories it brings back of my 69 440 Charger , it too died in a crash ... ahhh the teenage years ... Cheers for the Share
Thats fucking cool Jim. Did he make a shitload of money off the movie rights? I was friends with a writer named Gary Bradner who wrote the book that would eventually be made into probably the very best werewolf movie of all time, The Howling. I vividly remember Gary saying they offered him a ridiculous amount of money for the movie/screenplay rights to the novel, far more than he ever made publishing. How close was the movie to your dads novel? What was the name of the book, and did it do well?
I have seen this movie a hundred times, and could see it again. The 66 impala reminds me of my dads 65. Same color. And the 69 charger is one of my favorites. Well done!
A fun but seriously underrated movie. One of my favorite movies regardless of genre. By far the best chace movie. Being s Mopar fan, that 69 Charger 440 is to 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I don't know if many of you are aware of it, but the helicopter piloting in this movie, specifically the full nutso balls the size of the population of china low altitude under real power lines high speed chase and then fucking full speed cornering inches off the deck shot at approximately 3:17 in this video is a thing of legends in the stunt production world. I'm unable to explain or convey just how utterly fearless and insanely difficult what you see here was to try, let alone pull off (most veterans, even some of the Nam elite who were considered the best, said a move at this height and speed was not possible under any circumstances). This stunt went unchallenged for years, until the scene in Terminator 2 at the end of the movie when, filmed live in one take, the new 'record' was set when that chopper pilot flew that bird at 80+ knots UNDER the motherfucking overpass chasing the hero's car toward the metal foundry. Then, (and as of now, there might be others I'm not aware of!) even crazier 'impossible' helicopter flying surpassing this I saw recently in the low budget comedy film 'Rat Race' (the scene at the beginning of the movie when the blonde chopper pilot discovers her fiance in the Doughboy pool in their backyard with another bimbo and chases him through the desert with her helicopter). More balls of steel aviation mind blowyness . . .
If they think it's two dangerous, they used miniatures, or optical illusions in Hollywood back in the day. Now it's called CGI (computer generated imaging) but if it's a stunt pilot, hell thats impressive.
I've seen vision of insane chopper flying on outback cattle stations here in Australia. The big cattle stations used chopper musterers, who are airborne cowboys and some of the low level stuff they do is skilled but mad and on private property.
That helicopter pilot was hot doggin'. o_O Stuntmen, test pilots, etc were seriously badass back the day. When you'll risk your life to get the shot, that's dedication. These days a bandaid usage on set requires a team of lawyers. ;).
I have a restored '69 Dodge Charger 4-Speed 383. My father ordered it and bought it new in '68. You can see the '69 440 briefly. Love the movie. Love Fu Manchu.
@@DigbyOdel-et3xx Thank you. For $500 more he could have ordered it with the Hemi. People were blowing those engines up street racing so it didn't come with a warranty. That sucks. The car would be worth a hell of a lot more.
@ShadesOClarity The Hemi would be cool. But the 383 cu in. was a fine mule... The fact that you imo are fortunate to own one of my favorite Mopars is good enough for me. After the Dodge Viper, the Late 60's- early 70's Charger is my next favorite followed by the Plymouth Barracuda.😎👍
@@DigbyOdel-et3xx I like them all. Especially Yellow Superbees, Panther Pink Challengers, Vitamin C Orange Dart Swingers, everything. Mopar forever! I liked the Viper as well.
@ShadesOClarity I agree. I like all those classic Mopars too. I get a kick out of Vanguard Auto Sales when. They put videos of the cars they sell. All the Mopars they make videos of make me think, "If only I had the money to buy." 😂
Fokin' awesome!!!!! Egill, you've done an awesome job by putting this video together. Excellent. As if it were the original soundtrack to the move :-) Thank you so much for sharing.
got the movie poster in the barn, along with Vanishing Point (there are no heros), Citizens Band, Race with the Devil, Death Race 2000, Rollerball (the original of course), a Stones ’72 American tour and a really cool Clockwork Orange poster (just a white bust of Beethoven with one eye in black eyeliner and long eyelashes on an orange background) and 2 huge Easy Rider photo posters...gives the barn a nice 70’s atmosphere...
Not to be a knitpick but @1:07 coming off the dirt road is a 69 Charger @1:10 approx 3 seconds later it turned into a 68 Charger No center in the grille. Blooper!!

You're not wrong though. From Wikipedia: "Film developers thought the Dodge Charger was actually bright yellow and so "corrected" the film negatives to eliminate the greenish tint on the car. In fact, the entire movie in theaters, on TV, and on VHS was originally very warm toned. The color was more correct in the 2005 DVD release (and later Blu-ray releases) and the Dodge Charger became the correct lime green color. "
Wow, that's good stuff. The editing is clean and not too busy and the song fits perfectly. I like your fade out too. Somebody in Fu Manchu needs to know this is out there cause they would completely dig it.
there a different cars in the movie. first scene is a 69 charger with the splitted front in the 1st collisiondriving scenes theres a 68 with black front and round rear glasses.

How cool. My dad Richard Unekis wrote the book that this movie was based on when I was 3 in 1963. Nice job Fu Manchu !!!

The takeaway: Crime don't pay, kids. But if you insist, commit it in a lime green 1969 Dodge Charger.
Wow... I saw this movie on a Double Feature back in the 70s at the Drive In. The 2nd movie was Eat My Dust with Ron Howard....ahhh memories...
Still one of the coolest fan videos ever, thanks man. You nailed it. Peace
a new generation needs to be turned onto Dirty Mary Crazy Larry.

I just went to watch that scene from Rat Race, a lot of effort for a movie that seems a bit too silly to watch in full.
@@seansnyder8594: Both in this movie and in T2 they actually flew the chopper
The helicopter piloting in this movie was outstanding. His rotor blades came so close to power lines, poles and trees.
I have watched this video many times. Whenever I play the King of the Road album and this track comes on I can still hear the screeching tires etc.
Love how you can partly hear the engine of the car while the song is playing. Perfect combination of a great film and a great band.
I think this is the best version of the song that exists. The roar of the engine, the peel outs, sirens and laughs complete the song in a weird way.
Right!!! V8 singing adds so much to the song
Finally set free from the week's endless cycle of repetition. I love Fu Manchu

one of the stuntmen for Mad Max was told not to eat before a particular take because it was likely he would need major surgery after it!
I blame computers, CGI has replaced reality. When one knows anything about physics, can't watch make believe.
Who was the helicopter pilot?
this mashup is a good realization of my fantasy thoughts in my head daily.

It's a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T 440. However, in one scene you can see the non-split grille which was a '68. The song is "Drive" by Fu Manchu.

Great stuff! When stunt driving was real, done by drivers not computers
its like brushing big foots back and eating pop rocks at the same time
it's the music that do's it. this better than most or a whole lot of what's there.
