Had a Sonett III many years ago and while they don't have much power they weigh less than 2,000 # and so are surprisingly quick and lots of fun to toss around the back roads. Also as an autocrosser, FWD is fine for autocross. Could be a good cheap fun project for someone.

Unfortunately the threat of e.v and the lack of generational interest is seeing the slow demise of collections like this. So much of it will go to the crusher.

Love the Sonnett’s just because they are different lol, I have one in my driveway that I tried to save but alas it’s too far gone. I Autocross at North Park I’d be interested in one of them.

IIRC Saab Sonett's where considered "shit" here back in the day, my aunt had one back in middle 70's and she complained about it alot, even years after junking it. Also did he say "Captain Sweden"??

Like my Fiat X1/9, it may not be very fast but, when your butt is 8" from the ashfalt it's like 250 mph! 😅

Those Saabs was really the ultimate hairdresser car, a lot can be said about Saab, yes they was innovative in their own strange way, but the Sonett? A kit-car built from leftovers and recycled washing buckets. The only reason to own one, is that you need it to complete your Saab collection. In other words, no reason at all. There is a guy (Adventures Made From Scratch) in Kansas that would love to see how many of those horrible things he could fit in his car press... send them over there.

@rudolphbondefanger5513….I purchased a 1974 Sonnet in 1975, brand new, 104 miles . The dealer drove it from another city to mine. I sold it in 2008 with 9700 miles. The car was a total piece of crap the day it was built. A true kit-car.

@@Dixler683 They were relatively popular with artists and, as mentioned, hairdressers, and people who wanted a sports car but didn't have enough chest hair to drive an MGB or a Triumph. The fact that it doesn't look good either doesn't help, but there's little point in discussing taste. It's like the butt, two parts and in between there are things we'd rather not talk about.
