- This car had been stored in a barn for nearly 30 years when I found it, and with good help from my son and a friend organized a rescue operation in the August 2012. Here is what happened that sunny day south-east in Norway.

Wonderful... I had 1965 SAAB in 1971... THE best car I owned
Great find. My Dad had the exact same car when I was a boy in England. Best, most fun car he ever had. I remember him hitting 87mph (140kph) in it one time. That little 841cc 2-stroke motor was amazing. I would buy one now if they still made them. Lots of character.
Takk for den fine videoen. Blir artig å følger med videre.
Yes, the fact that it was a 2 stroke was crucial for us when we choosed to give it a new life.
A friend's dad had the same Saab. Feel in love with Saabs then and bought a 9 3 convertible for my son's 17th birthday.
Great job! That's a beautiful car!
So interesting to watch. Thanks for sharing these moments!!
Fantastiskt. Bra vinterbil.
what a great find, enjoy the car as it deserves, greets from SLO
Riktigt kul video!
Underbara maskiner :,)
sweet find!!!! I learned to drive in a1982 saab 900 turbo 5 speed, when i was about 12. here in the U.S.A.! These cars were amazing in the 80's the newer ones..... should've gone back to 2 stroke
Awesome find, thanks for sharing!
Buick Electra is a nice car, and it can't be better than doing the restauration together as a friend/dad/son-project. Perfect, wish you good luck!
Amazing stuff. A REAL barn find.
Congratulations! Great car.
What a find brother God bless your luck...
good job saving that saab. you know what? me, dad and a friend of us began to rescue my 1966 Buick electra after my dad abandoned it 14 years ago. and it came to life also in august 2012 and now being restored to a better condition
Beautiful country I hope it stays that way
Keep the saab love alive! Nice find!
Thanks for saving it! Please show us what it looks like when it is restored!
thats great, engine sounds strong and even the dent in the frontfender fit the vintage appeal... hope that beauty is still alive and kickin´....
+Jonny Rocket It's indeed alive and kickin' but currently on winter storage.
great find!
Great video!! love to see old cars made to run again :)
I had a 1966 Monte Carlo 850... that little feisty 3 cylinder, 2 stroke engine was an amazing one! So fast only in tight curves... lol
great vid!thank you!
Underbar film!! :)
My son is a genuin entusiast and a great fan of Lada. Four Ladas in good condition and one project is the status so far
we had one like this, we sold it because we were'nt using it because it didn't run that well, really a fun and nice car to drive :)
Tusen takk:)
There was an even better barn find of a SAAB96 in Sacramento a few years back, it went to the SAAB museum it was so nice.
what an amazing find i love norway
wow that car is like new, you must be a lucky person to find such a treasure
What a beauty!
belo vídeo..... resgate de um grande carro .....
beautiful place
Now that's a barn
Sweet find! Love to see her restored.
Tack for din kommentar.
swede tech, love it
We have no intention to do a total restauration. We think that an unrestored car has much more interesting story to tell. The last four weeks we have been working hard to make the car ready for the road. Yesterday, it passed the control, and to day we took it to the first classic car show with great success!
I used to have a toy saab cari like them because thier good cars scott
I miss Saab.
I've owned:
1986 900 Turbo 16S
1988 900 Turbo
1989 900 Turbo 16S convertible
Your Norway looks a lot like the west coast of Canada, and you drive on the right hand side of the road.. enjoy the car. Build on
Funny fact: We drive in the right side in all of Europe, only exception is Great Britain. But a lot of people from Canada and USA think that in most of Europe we drive in the left side haha :P
Kakivas
Further fun trivia: the SAAB in video was made during a the time when Sweden still had left sided traffic (they switched to right side in 1967; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagen_H ). And the cars were mostly LHD too... must've been interesting times.
That would have been.
Merely hidden away for 29 Years.....some loyal SAAB lover...He's a TRUE NUT
cool, good find, will look good when it's returned to former glories
Do you have a video of the restoration process? Would love to see it...
Super ciekawe gratulacje pozdrawiam serdecznie &&&
Veldig fin video! Kan du lage en til en av den bilen?
awesome, whats the progress of the mighty saab???
i also have a saab 96 from 65 love 2-stroke's
Nice work, a nice find too. I am suprised how good condition it is considering the amount of time it has been stored. I have a Swedish Import DKW and it's in good body condition too.... maybe the air is good over there !!
Ist ja SUPER !
detta ser virkelig bra ut... hilsen Theis fra lada forumet
Super love SAAB
There is no oil to change in a 2-stroke engine. But you have to use petrol mixed with 4% special-oil for 2-stroke engines
Thank you for watching the video. I never thought about it as a world-wide presentation when I recorded it.
I hope you changed the oil before you tried to start it?
How did you find it? and how much SEK did it cost?
I would love to get one of these. Convert the engine to steam and have one of the craziest cars out there.
The 2-stroke engines runs on petrol mixed with 3% 2-stroke special oil, and the only oil we have to change is in the gearbox
a great car especially with the 4 cylinder engine...I drove one in winter and it was amazing...why I did not buy is beyond me :(
It's a 3 cylinder 2 stroke.
still, a nice car :)
I agree. They were great in the snow too.
the snow condition was what I drove in :)
@@classic287 He's talking about the V4 from 1968 onwards.
har du flerne videoer av den saaben ? :D
Interesting! The car is a '65! Up until 1969; Sweden drove on the left side of the road, like UK, Australia, NZ & Hong Kong! In '69 they changed. I am assuming this car was intended for export, and therefore was manufactured a Left hooker? I am loving the shape of this baby. Very cool car!! Looks great in gray, with burgundy wheels. all it needs is an exhaust hanging kit, a new rear light cluster oh yes and some insurance!
Believe it or not, but Swedes had steering wheel on the left side even though they drove on the left side. The Saab has been in trafic again since 2013, runs good after a little bit of work.
Brukær di han den da i da? Eller selte di han?
How the hell did u get the car on the trailer with no winch?
You've got to love an old Saab being picked up and helped out by a new.
Lada is a beauty car)))I drive 2114 samara)
Häftigt :)
mye arbeid å være ... lykke Bjørn))
which part of norway?
28:54 you did not change the oil before starting?
Thank you for uploading this video. Often I am disappointed that people don't tell us what they are seeing/doing or what is going on. You on the other hand gave a complete running commentary the entire time....even while driving out to the farm. UNFORTUNATELY for me, and all the other folks out there who aren't Scandinavian, your commentary is in Norwegian. I would love to know what you'd been saying all this time. In future can you please give, even a partial commentary, in English. Thanks !
Wow! I have a fondness for Nordic cars! Did you manage to restore it and can you show it?
Planning to do a new video. The car is repaired mechanically, brakes etc. Cosmetically nothing has changed, just cleaned and polished. It's back on the road!
There is no sound like a 2-cycle saab running... I had a 63 where the front frill and hood was one piece... my very first car...
Ps Jeg bor i Rygge.
Look at that steering wheel ! It has a leather cover over it with buttons ? Cool !
+GlennnD, that style of steering wheel cover was common in the seventies and eighties, I put them on a few of my cars when I was a lad.
@31:50 En "viss" skillnad. :)
Grattis till fyndet.
Very nice found !
And you don't take the VW beetle? she's look brilliant too ;)
Wartburg's are also have this good sound ;D
South-east of Norway,150 km from Oslo and 50 km from Sweden.
In this aspect the axe was a better choise than a hammer. By the way, with the progres we have now the car should be ready for the road in the end of april (this year)
didnt expect to see lada :D
I imagine you would think it sacrilege, but I'm certain that a wankel rotary motor would be great in one of these.
Sounds sweet. get it on the road and use it.
nice :-)
that's a great car. my first car was a Saab 900 S, 1996. is anybody going to restore the VW Beetle that was in the barn?
2:48 - Lada 1500S ?
❤
