Will it Run and Drive After 32 Years? | Ford Anglia car rescue x 2

- Helping a friend towing two Ford Anglia and installing an engine in one of them. Both Anglias is 1962 models and where parked about 32 years ago and have not run since! The cars was his and hers cars. The blue was hers, and it was a good contidion garage car before parked. They was replaced by Volvo`s. The grass and vegetation around the blue had been cutted and moved every season and it had been hosed off somtimes if another car was washed. It even had some oil poured on the floor and oil sprayed in the engine compartment before parked. But they have rusted from the underside and will need professional body work. We filled oil in engine cylinders and air in some tires and replaced a couple of tires we found before we filmed. In the Harry Potter movie this car could fly, so our goal was to at least make these old cars start, run maybe drive again, and give them a new chance to be restored!

One of the most beautiful cars ever made❣️❣️❣️
Bollocks
The blue one is is pretty good shape! 😍😍 Amazing it started up! My Mum bought a white 1967 Anglia with red vinyl seats in 1968,when I was one year old. She loved it! She sold it in 1972,when we emigrated to Pennsylvania in the USA. She then bought a dark green 1967 Mustang over there, which she also loved! 😍😍
Yeah, it's clearly been garaged, theres no way it's been sitting out for long.
My beautiful father used to have a Ford Anglia in 1972.... he used to drive us all, (a family of 5) from Halifax West Yorkshire, all the way down to Southampton in Hampshire UK.. 🇬🇧 , we all loved that lovely little car, and our beautiful memories.. sadly, my dad passed away in November 1991... watching you find these beautiful cars, and bringing them back to life fills my heart with joy.... thank you so much... you now definitely have a new & happy subscriber to your channel 👍... I love & miss you dad ♥
The car stolen by Ron and Harry Potter and driven to Hogwarts. It should fly if charmed by magic incantation.
My first car was a Ford Anglia. Sky blue with a white roof. I was 17 years of age, working as apprentice signwriter (signpainter). I had a passion
for Anglias. Firstly for their design. Secondly for their reputation as a track racing car. Thirdly for what I could afford. I courted my first heart
throb in that car. The car is long gone, but that girl has been my wife for 56 years now,
Congrats,John,I had mine in 68, aqua blue,79 hlt reg.I was 18,and met my first serious GF,part ex in 73, Ford cortina mk3,and my GF,is my wife,we been together 55 years!,good luck for the future, such memory’s.
Mine was a 1965 Super 1200cc same blue but for some reason, had the white strip, but not the white roof Super’s had.
@@matlockcopy Hy mate,great little car,good memory’s,yes strange re stripe,but not the white roof,that was my first car,so very special,lol.
@@cally2794 Definitely a 1200 Super. I did wonder, over the years, why no white roof. unless it had been specified that way(??) seems unlikely. 1965 "C" plate, nippy and good to drive. Was then given a company car so it had to go couldn't afford to keep it for my own use with a company vehicle to hand. Always regretted it. Friend of my fathers had one of the first 1959 models yellow in colour, not sure if it was a Super though.
@@matlockcopy Hy Ken,yes 1200 super, was better for sure, got mine from zeniths commercial road,London, had 29,000,when I got her, nearly 48.000 PX for mk3 cortina ,as me things rings was on the way out,all that white stuff in engine oil filler goo!,funny see a 3 litre anglia at car show in trinity park Ipswich, weird, had front seat where back seat was, otherwise couldn’t get engine in!,re 59 model, was that the nickname sit up and beg anglia?
I used to own one of these cars back in the 60's. Do not let that engine's small size fool you. It is quite strong in spite of being small. We pulled a fully loaded 5 x 8 U-Haul trailer from New Jersey to Florida with it and it never gave us a moment's trouble. I wish I still had that car. Mine was the same blue color.
I think you have made a mistake, they only have 48bhp, its not pulling anything, not the most reliable cars either especially in the cold weather.
@@stevenc5227, well, I can tell you the one I had WOULD Pull a 5 x 8 fully loaded U-Haul from NJ to FL with no problems plus my family! We never had the first problem with ours. Obviously you must have had a bad one.
@@richardcline1337Maybe yours didn't have the 998cc engine, they did do a 1200cc, but as you live in USA the engines may be bigger, i never knew they had them in America. I never had one but my neighbour did, he was constantly under the bonnet / hood and swearing at it, pushing it down the hill to try and get it running on a freezing morning, then again i think that was normal for most cars in the 1970s.
I rebuilt one a number of years ago and put a 1600 gt escort engine in it.
@@phuk4549 They really did need more power the 1600 would make it fly.
My first car in 1973 ! Bought for 200 SEK in sweden . Since then I had two more , the last one with a 1600 cortina GT engine . That was a rocket , I can tell ! My first consumed gas as a moped , full tank lasted two months , daily driving !
My grandfather. Got on of those cars for nothing the engine was seized. The owner said if you can get it running you can have it. So my grandfather took the head off and lubricated the pistons. He poured a little oil down the pistons. And gently gradually turned the fan until it freed itself and he put it all back together and drove it home. He died few years later and it sat in the backyard. For years. Unfortunately. When my grandmother passed away the car went to the wrecker.
My cousin Steve Dixon had one of these cars. The grill reminds me of Robby The Robot. That was years ago. Before he went away to Vietnam. He came back but he was never the same.
I used to have one of these! I painted it pearl purple with irridescent flames and it had slotted mag wheels. Wish I'd never sold it. Don't we all.
i love the ford anglia tums upp for the harry potter ride
My dad had one. We had to push ours too, while it was running! Wouldn't pull a hill. I bought it years later and installed a 283. Then it would pull the front wheels off the ground!
It not how well it runs or drives; it’s how it flies!
Saved again, will run one day. 🎉🎉
Body, shape, and window frame styles, headlights, and dash gages are quite magnificent and amazing.
Yes...many old cars have good design and that is what makes them interesting... all the nice details...Thank you for watching and comment!
maybe it secretly flies.
My first car was a 1961 Ford Anglia and although it was 26 years old at the time, it not only gave me great mileage but also forced me to learn the basic principles of engines as it constantly was breaking down at some point or the other. Fortunately, because their engines are very basic, plugs, points, condenser, carburator, they were very easy to fix with a bare minimum of tools! Also the only car in the World which carried a guarantee on its rear windscreen (no bird could shit on it)
I HAD A DARK BLUE ONE, I DROVE TO WORK, WHEN I WAS 19YRS OLD, IN 1959,TO 1961.NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE, I LOVED IT.HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE.LIVED IN FLORIDA
Both of those have unusual air cleaners. Great job, you go Anglia put a 1500 GT in one!
My dad had one before I was born. Late 40s approx. He always called it his "English Ford" which was cool as his folks came from England.
My very 1st car on the road was a Ford Anglia and was exactly the same blue as this one 1967 … lovely to see and would be lovely to see it restored too it’s former glory 👍
I was given a Canary Yellow Anglia as a 17 yr old back in the early '70s, no engine/box or front suspension.
I just happened to have a 1200 Anglia estate car lying around with good running gear though so swapped everything out, only thing I had to do was chop and weld the prop shaft which was longer on the estate car, no problem though.
The car had 2 x new wings, new A pillars and sills, basically it was minted.
When I had the car finished, I sold it on for £300, a fortune to me back then!!
Loved your video, brought back so many memories👍👍
Great story. Love it 👍👍
These cars with 105e engine were so simple to work on unlike cars today with cramed engine bay.
$3800 for electric hand brake on cars today.. Think todays cars have lost the plot.
People today want all the stupid extras.
In my day a heater and a radio was a luxury.
My dad used a washing up bottle, squeezing it out through side window to wash dirty screen as wind screen .Washers were extras when ordering new cars back in 1960's in UK.
Today`s cars are way too complicated for their own good, slightest ailment and you need a computer to find out what`s wrong - and that`s before the repair bill!
And interior light that came on when the door opened
I agree. They both deserve a full restoration. If they do please make another video show the results. Thankyou.
I agree. Many years ago a friend bought a new automatic mini (the original one), and had to pay extra for a radio and wheel trims as they were luxuries.
I learnt to drive in one of these when i was 12/13 years old, loved it,kept it in the back of an old Tuffnells waggon body.
My sister also had one but somebody had put either a standard 1600 in it or a 1600 GT engine and it was like a rocket.
Nice to see old classic cars restored......
From South Africa. Loved the video. A 1963 Anglia was my first car. We used to say here that it was the only car that had a guaranteed rear window. A bird could not crap on it.
My father had two of these Ford Anglias, the first Sky Blue the second Green ! He would pack the whole family into that little car and off we would go on our summer holidays ! Colwyn Bay a few times, Weymouth and Lowestoft ! I remember my dear old mum telling my dad to put his foot down once on the way home ! The whole family looking at the Speedometer ! Well damn me if that little car full of family five did not do a ton too, to the screams of joy from all in that little bomb ! Anyway it died eventually and i remember my Dad trying one last time to get it to run before the scrap man arrived to tow her away to be " cubed " like all the rest of those lovely old car back in thetime when cars were all sorts of shapes, colours and sizes ! Happy Ford Anglia Days !
My Dad had one brand new in 1966 a D registration. Holiday time not a problem drove it from Manchester down through France, the Mont Blanc tunnel Switzerland, into Italy and down to the Mediterranean coast at Alassio....................and then 2 weeks later all the way back home! Happy Days! 😃
passed my driving test in one of these and in the motor trade they called them angle boxes
That blue one is in great condition under the bonnet. The doors always rust like that cos there is a pad stuck to the inside of the door to protect the glass/window mechanism. And the pad gets wet and soaks water which results in the rusty patch you see in middle of door.
My cousin Robert bought an Anglia in the 1960's in Melbourne, I remember we went into the countryside for a run with four adults and me (about nine years old then) in the car and it wouldn't get us over this large hill, so the backseat people got out and walked over the hill while Robert caught up! Fond memories of Alf Ventress puffing a cigarette in an Anglia police car in an episode of "Heartbeat".😂
1992 i was i Banbury, UK . My friend pick me to the college with Ford Anglia everyday. I love this car.
I had a 1200 cc Anglia super 1n 1970 for 3 years it was a 1963 model, pale green with white roof and side arrow. Still have a original Ford workshop service manual for it (Red Folder) type.
Absolutely Loved it ! especially the last part where you had to use the starter motor only to inch forward on the trailer I have been in that predicament with my Anglia
Anyway video brought tears to my eye thinking about my uncle & I working on my Anglia about 40 years ago, I wish I had of kept my Anglia and not dumped it which is a long sad story
Yours is one of the best Anglia videos as you show the "resurrection" and get to hear plenty of that famous good old sound of the starter motor so unique
Thanks! I have heard several stories similar to yours about classic cars been sold or scrapped and they regret many years later. Thank you for sharing your Anglia story, your words motivates to save more classic cars and make videos of it.
The first car I ever bought had two of these in the 1960's then moved up to a Mk1 Ford Cortina happy days 😎
Two examples of a lovely, practical car. But yesterday's cars had the technology of the time, modern cars have modern tech. Good luck to make the two cars run again.
So true! Thank you for the support! Thank you for watching and comment!
Back in the late 70s we used these cars to build Mini Stockers to race at our local Speedway here in west central Florida this guy had a yard full of these and Cortina's !!
My late father had one of these cars, it was green and the licence plate was HC-72-75. He bought it in late 1967 at lasted until 1984.
That was so nostalgic! I had 2 Anglias. The first was a maroon 997 4455KF and the second was a 1200 super, D reg. I'd love another and would love to see these beauties restored. Wonderful memory trip, thanks lads.
I had a 1200 Super as well, 1970, in Spruce Green, my first ever car, cheers🍻
We had one of those Anglias when I was in high school - cute little car.
Lovely video, and well done for saving them.
I’m glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
Love these cars/models
I saw a couple of these in the 60's in Canada, rolling amongst the big boats of the day.
Brings back memories from my childhood.
Give it back to Ron Weasley's father.
Nice cars....been riding one when i was young, still remember it!
Thanks! Cool😊
Love to have both those anglias
I owned one for ten years until a lorry hit it whilst parked! Loved it but boy did I have to work on that thing! Best thing was practically all the more powerful Ford engines simply dropped in as externally they were the same dimension.
😱, i remember them well,as a kid, i Saw them bran New..i fall i love. Always wanted one,..love his lines like a small Chevy 57, 😆😄,.. Ford Anglia, thanks for sharing 👍 AMAZING.. please restore if possible. A real 💎 glad for you guys. Peace.
I am glad you liked the cars and enjoyed the video! Yes...they are both being restored now. Thank you!
Very cool find, lucky guy, love these cars
Cute cars!⚒️🔧😁🛠️👍
I had so much fun driving my mothers Anglia around as a teenager, it could really take a beating, until my brother put its passenger wheels into a ditch, lol
TOTALLY AGREE WITH ALL THESES COMMENTS. GREAT LITTLE CARS SO EASY TO WORK ON I HAD MY FIRST ONE WHITCH WAS A 1964 IN THE LATE 70'S MY SECOND ONE EARLY 80'S AS A SECOND CAR JUST FOR FUN AND A PROJECT. IV ALLWAYS HAD FORDS. 10 IN TOTAL I JUST WISH MY MK5 MONDAO EURO 6 TITANUM WAS AS EASY TO WORK ON AS THE OLD ANGLIA 105. EVEN THOUGH THE LUXURY WAS NOT THERE AS MY MONDAO.
JUST WISH I STILL HAD MY 2 OLD GIRLS NOW AS A MEMORY TO HOW CARS WHER BUILT TO LAST.👍. Good on you guys for keeping the PASSED ALIVE.
That's the Weasley family car which ron and harry stole to get back to hogwarts.
12:53 like a cat purring after being sick for 5 minutes straight
Damned great little cars. Love em
They are a little bit rusty though. Oh well, a little brush of paint and they'll be as good as new.
😀 allways a hope someone says.. Thank you for watching and comment!
My dad had one in mid 1960s , Ihad one in early 1970s ( very secondhand), my God they could rust ,,!
When I was a kid a lady down the street had a red one like this. I thought wow what a interesting little car among our huge dinosaurs. She got in a bad accident in 1964 and was hurt bad but survived. The car was demolished.
I've heard that some mechanical parts are still available for these. Doesn't look like the blue one needs any hard to find body pieces so that's a big hurdler not to worry about.
Good to see that Roy Orbison has found a constructive way to spend his time in retirement.
Anglebox! First car i ever drove.
Call me a cynic but it's in pretty good Nick for being outside for 32 years
Their backwindows was guaranteed for 100 years a bird cant shit on it
Cutest cars ever. I want one or two 😀😀😀
My Dad Had one just like this and his friend had an older one...they used them to drive to work at the Pentagon from N Va...in the late 60's.
My first car was an Anglia, white I loved it, 1L my father had the 1.2l .
Hope you can save the middle of those front seat covers, rare to see
I wonder if he realizes there’s no radiator! 😂
Good Old car's Antique s' 👍🏾👏🏽😃 me gustan los Carros viejos 👍🏽😃💯💪🏾 excelentes ✌🏽😍
Yes they are...Thank you for watching!
these make excellent electro conversion candidates!!
I like all videos
The cleanest recue car I've ever seen ???????????
Pure gold✨
Thanks!
That car looks like it was sitting there for 32 days.
Scene in Harry Potter Anglia car flying.
WOW that car was clean after sitting there for 32 years. Not one bit of bird shit on it.
My mother had 1 here in Australia. 2nd hand when she bought it, she had it up until 1977. The brakes failed , so the car went as well.
my all time favourite car...so envious right now...lol,
Yes, they are cool.. take up little space, easy to work on and kinda look like a 1957 Chevrolet?... not sure about the last statement.. someone says they look like a grumpy fish, but i like them regardless and i think they got many neat design features. Hope your wish will come true!
@@DaysofCars so many childhood memories of the these cars. just love em. can i ask are you restoring them both.
@@kaywalker4433 Yes..... I have heard a story about holiday trips fully packed with family with several kids and luggage in that blue Anglia., and he cold not believe today that that car could room so much and he also had good memories from that time and cars like you do. Both cars are beeing restored by a friend, they are parked in a garage and are currently getting technically repairs, upgrades and making them more drivable, but since this is a hobby, he is just working on them when he feel like and are enjoying them, he likes the patina look, and are driving with them sometimes on private ground for the fun. I was only contributing in the work to save them, and i am glad it turned out to be a happy ending.
@@DaysofCars fantastic, and save them you guys did. good job and friend,
@@DaysofCars We had one in the mid 70's a 123E Super. Drove from Portsmouth to Cornwall and back twice with three kids and luggage. Now have another one with a 1500GT engine and a few modifications. Having driven numerous 'moderns' since, its hard to believe the 123E was a daily driver back then! Thanks for the video, it is super!
MUY BUENA MAQUINA ESE
FORD ANGLIA SI SEÑORES Y QUE BONITOS SON...
I once owned a 1200cc Mk1 Ford Cortina. Driving up a hill the crankshaft broke. The 3 bearing crank was a bad idea.
Little fords are ready to start flying 🦉
Great video 👍
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for subscribing!
Nice work, that blue seems to have in cylinders quite equal compression .. as per 32 years of parking ..
Thanks! Yes, the blue was overall a better car than the yellow
@@DaysofCars Hello I'm glad to hear that someone is restoring the two ford Anglia's I too have fond childhood memories of similar car's my mum's old ford classic and the many MK1 escorts that I owned in the 80's good luck to your friend with the restoration hope to see them finished 👌♥️
@@deanmarskell1518 Thank you for the support and for sharing your story! We have been talking about a part 2, a visit to see the progress, so maybe. But there will be more "will it start" and saving old cars videos from me for that`s what i like to do.
Those are sweet cars
Muy. Bue. Carro. Ford. Anglia
What are you going to do with the car, love them. In the UK they are only a few left, and go for good money, too find two together is rare 👍
Yes! they will be lowed! I did not know they where rare in UK, maybe they stay in families, and not go to the marketplace so often.. There where three Anglias here about eleven years ago.. one light blue patina looking like the one in the movie was sold and now are restored like new. Thank you for watching and comment!
Great video, nice shots. Excellent work!
Parece al carro qué sale en la Película de Harry Potter y la cámara de los secretos
Es ese modelo
Hope someone also saves those two Mercs. The grey one is a "Stroke 8", & the blue one looks like one too. You'll first see them while working out & getting the white Anglia out at 3:00. Once had a "Stroke 8". Decent motors.
Émouvant. Merci et bravo.
Grazie per avermi fatto emozionare. Belle auto...😊
Look, don't get me wrong. It's great to see you rescue these 2 lovely cars. But If you are open to constructive criticism, we don't need to see minutes and minutes worth of car shuffling with no speech. Tell us something about the cars tell us something about their history. How you got them etcetera. Doesn't make for the most exciting watch...
Personally I love the format. No speech. Let the content speak for itself.
Ciao Steve...Like 1933
Well done chaps great video ive only ever sn 1 of these in real life it was un my friends garage he fixed her up and sild her i believe this is the car they used in the harry potter movies.
Very cool................. 👍👍
Thanks! 😎

Simple cars..I had a 1200 super that was just one of those engines that was cock on, went like a 1500. You can have great fun in those cars, drive them to the limit without killing yourself! I had a rare Allardette estate
Loads of room round engine and rear wheel drive and boot /trunk and space for four ... people were small in the sixties.!
This can not be right I had one in the 1960s, and my one never started in the mornings.
Drop the GT Cortina engine in one…. They go like Hell.
Late as usual to the party, but how did these two stay in such good condition. Do they have a back story ? I love those anglias....
real clean 32 yrs i find that hard to believe (blue one )
