Love watching these vids and seeing the progress people make and the joy they have when they get them up and running again. You gotta love an early Hemi. 250 Hp 331 cid "FirePower" V-8. Good luck with it.
Back then Cars were made to cruise the interstates. It was cheaper to drive across America that it was to fly. There were motor lodges and pancake houses.
Good point, I'm going to try and drive an Alaskan T-150* from NW Arizona to NE Arkansas this month (OCT '23) driving my 4 x 2 2003 Tundra with the iForce 4.7 V8... taking the I-40, This 20 year old Tundra has lived exposed to the UV of the SW out doors and has nary a spec of clear coat on any horizontal surface. It is actually camo'ed being if she's parked on the side of the highway out here the paint color matches the surrounding landscape. * 1st gen Toyota Tundra which Toyota wanted to name T-150 but FOMOCO would have none of it, and Ford won the argument, hence 'Tundra' was born and damn if it don't have F-150 styling cues all over it.
I’d take a Tundra over a Ford these days. Us poor guys have to have a vehicle that lasts and lasts, that’s why I’ve been driving Toyota’s and Hondas for the last 35 years. Keep the oil changed etc. and they go forever.
had a car almost exactly like that when I was 16, benton city wa, earlyish 70's, very first car for $50 was a MINT black on yellow 55' Dodge custom lancer, hemi, 2spd auto... so nice, best car I ever owned... art the same time someone who seen me driving it asked me "hey you like those old mopars eh" I said welp having nothing to compare to being my first car ever yes I LOVE THEM! he said I have 1955 chrysler new yorker deluxe with a hemi in it, has an engine issue but $110 its yours.. I say I get paid on friday! had the same small block hemi in it, engine actually had 2 issues, a stuck valve and a bad distributor, this car was clean as a WHISTLE, low mile 16000, the dodge lancer only had 6200 miles on it!!!! friends parents got divorced, it was the family car, each refused to drive it so they both bought new.. my friend insisted his sister was conceived in the car, his mom said they both were... lololololo anywho the new yorker found a new distributor from the junk yard and a gallon of diesel ran thru carb loosened up that valve, the mroe I drove it, the more it free'd up, in two weeks it ran like new.. I drove them both a lot, the dodge was stolen by the city and tri city towing, the new yorker I left at the farm I worked on when I went back to the west coast.. have dreams about those cars all the time, or nightmares, I cannot find them, and I look all over being sad
Was the tag dated 57? If so that car was only two years old when it was took off the road. That was an expensive car back in 55, loaded like it is. Nice car!
Damn son beautiful car. We have a Chrysler 300 in the shop at our old dairy farm. It's safe and waiting for me. Sure would like to see a fella soak down the rings before ever turning over.
The Chrysler 300s of that vintage set NASCAR on it's ear with Tim and Fronty Flock at the wheel. They were just about unbeatable on dirt or pavement and they used the same Hemi 331 that your Imperial has. It's great to see someone cares enough about them to fix them up. The closest I ever came was a 60 Chrysler 300F with the 413 wedge and the 2 x 4 long ram manifolds. It was the first car I ran the 1/4 mile in and would only turn mid 16s ( this in 1963 ) but I swear by the speedo it could do 150 mph on the flat. 😎🏁
Great video, I subscribed and gave you a thumbs up! Back in high school (1967) my buddy drove a 1957 Imperial that he paid $50 bucks for. It had the coolest dash and speedometer I ever saw in a car, it looked like an old Seeburg juke box lit up at night, it glowed almost like a blacklight. The speedometer was a round dome and the indicator would come around in a circle inside the globe. It was something to see. The old Hemi ran well too. I always liked the look of the headlights that set outside of the fenders in individual chrome headlight buckets. They don't build like they used to, you could probably build five KIA's out of one of these old Imperials. Personally, I would rather have the Imperial, you can keep the five KIA's. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
Amazing car. I have the sister to this car. 55 Chrysler, New Yorker, Town and Country wagon. Same engine I believe. Same basic shape. My floors are solid but the body is in rough shape with a good bit of rust. Needs to hit the road again as does your car. Best of luck!
Too bad many end up this way. Less than 7500 of the four door Imperials were built (plus 3318 2 door hardtops) It's a one year only car with some one year only parts. Until recently, kits for the master cylinder and power brake unit was not available anywhere but they are now. Amazing how the stock 6 volt turns the engine over just fine. No need to go to 12 volt (Mopars did in 1956) I'm surprised the fuel pump was working as they usually give out after sitting a while. It will take someone with good rust repair skills but there have been a lot worse cases brought back to their old glory. You shouldn't have much problem finding a windshield in an old car junkyard or old Mopar collectors as they are the same on all 1955 and 1956 Chryslers and DeSotos except convertibles (source of info: Hollander interchange manual)
VERY COOL AND AWESOME CAR. HAPPY YOU GOT HER RUNNING.👍❤🙏💪🇺🇸. SHE IS WORTH SAVING, AND I BET SHE WAS LOVED BY ITS OWNERS. THAT IS A CRUISER FOR SURE💪❤. SUPER COMFORTABLE INTERIOR👍
NO, NO, NO... dang, I'm not a mechanic but I love car mechanics and I've become a fanatic of these revival vlogs now for the past three years. I know exactly what this young man is up to and I just like to feel as if he has invited me to stand by his side and learn by watching. Go watch VGG or JYD if you want a voice over approach these guys excell at it.
Wow my parents had a1955 Chrysler Imperial just like that same blue but a 2 tone with a green they gave it to my sister in 1966 nice car love that hemi engine
That’s cool you bring old cars back to life again super cool channel you have keep up the good work bring back all those old cars because the new ones are garbage
Great job getting it running. But wow what a job it will be to restore that car if you do. Just finding all the missing parts will be a herculean task. From a quick look in the video it looks like the frame is rusted out also.
Another well produced revival that is just amazing. To sit here in Arizona on historic route 66 an ol' fart whom is a lover of ol' classic cars like this and at 66 years of age I really do admire your talent son. May this talent take you on your best journeyyoung man, enjoy every bit of it, and thanks for sharing this little slice here on this medium. p.s. Love the music choices.
Where are the homeless ..Canadian,south American and USA..where are they now...Remember Donkey foot..Sister miss Donkey gin and egg....ASSEB history..cold,caugn....
Boy, he filed the shit outta those old point's! I just used to use an emery board (for fingernails) two maybe three swipes to clean and even them out. Use a paper matchbook cover to set the points, clean contact points on the rotor, cap, plugs and bingo. Boy, that rumble sounds good! Those old Chrysler whimp starter's are nauseating to listen to though.. Always look for old coins!
I googled it and I saw the dash in a 55. The gear shift handle was up on the dash too. Remember that plate that said Imperial that he put in the back window? That goes right between the driver's seat and the door.
The grille support was in the trunk and the fenders were in the backseat. So he has 99% of the body parts and a running car, if he searches hard enough he should be able to find everything else and make this one complete again.
This video gave me flashbacks . Back in 1990 I bought a 1955 Desoto fireflight 4dr sedan in the same color as your Imperial. Spent a few years restoring it all that was left was a respray. But then I lost my job and went thru a divorce so I had to sell it.
She was such an elegant automobile. Glad you are saving her

Yes by 1955 the rear axle ratios were upped on many makes so one could do 65-70 mph without the engine screaming.
Times have changed.. now they have Cheap Korean cars and vape houses😟
You'd be lucky if you made it to the next town in the crappy disposable generic Chinese cars built today..🍷😎👌

I love these old cars. Anyone else really get sad or angry when they see car crushing videos?

Great project!
Damn son beautiful car. We have a Chrysler 300 in the shop at our old dairy farm. It's safe and waiting for me. Sure would like to see a fella soak down the rings before ever turning over.

Cool story thanks for that and your cool moniker here on yt, Uncle Fred

That must have been quite a beautiful automobile when new. And factory A/C no less! Thank you for showing her a little love! 😄
Factory air with a York compressor huh? Thanks for the laugh 🤣

What a beautifully put together car needs saving runs like a top well done mate well impressed 😊
Sounds really good just needs to be driven
nice to see someone going over everything before cranking up
This car definitely deserves a second chance.
I love it when we car people see something in old cars that others think are completely gone ...... we bring them back ❤
Hard to believe that the hemi engine was still in it after other parts had been removed.
I love your style and presentation, this car is beautiful .
Nice job; 55-56 Imperials are pretty desirable. I used to own 2 1960 Imperials.
But they didn't have Hemis !
Put a little Gas down her gullet ! They like Fuel ! If it's a 55,that'll be a 331 Hemi, got the best Heads of them all.
Love the old chryslers. What are your plans for it. Dont know where this is but looks like a ghost town.
You need to get that thing over to Darnell's Do It Yourself Garage ..QUICK !
Epic Thumbs Up !
😇❤
VERY COOL AND AWESOME CAR. HAPPY YOU GOT HER RUNNING.👍❤🙏💪🇺🇸. SHE IS WORTH SAVING, AND I BET SHE WAS LOVED BY ITS OWNERS. THAT IS A CRUISER FOR SURE💪❤. SUPER COMFORTABLE INTERIOR👍
Live the lack of commentary and foolishness to play up to the camera
Great video, thanks. A bit of commentary regarding what you are specifically doing and your plans for the car would enhance the video.
NO, NO, NO...

Thank you for NOT calling it a Chrysler Imperial. Lots of work yet to do, but a cool car!
1955 Imperial; one of my all time favorite cars!
An original A/C car..wow. I wish there were some old pictures of that car back in it's day.
Lindo carro!!! Parabéns e sucesso.
beatiful car!! congratulations and success.
That’s a hard car to fine , and it’s awesome..
Wow my parents had a1955 Chrysler Imperial just like that same blue but a 2 tone with a green they gave it to my sister in 1966 nice car love that hemi engine
No words spoken or needed. Well done.
Try that with a 2023 mobile of your choice in 50+ years. Nice work.

Yeah starter sounds like a dying tuberculosis patient!
Hear that door shut
That sounds good!
I like your mechanic and videography style. Great job on that beauty so far. Subscribed.
I too find it refreshing, and the choice of tunes is ...well, Choice!

I just stumbled into a great video of a great car. She's a peach. Think I'll subscribe...
2:00 ~ An experienced mechanic would toss those useless Champions into the nearest shit ANY 'plug would be an improvement.can.
Very cool car!!!!!!

How old are you, bud? Your haircut suggests 17, but no 17 year old is that competent!
.😁👍✌
Cool. Looks like a fun time.
for God's sake check the power steering res. & put marvel mystery in the cylinders
Ah didn’t see you had front left fender in back a good pressure wash wouldn’t hurt
WOW, Viewership took a huge bounce on this car... Congrats!
Im surprised people arent saying " scrap it its a 4 door " hopefully those days of ignorance are over.
As soon as I seen it .. '55 .. my favorite! Love the lines, chrome lights.. is it for sale?
Great video, sat here rivetted watching it.
No talking made it even more enjoyable.
Must have misplaced the front end somewhere.
The grille support was in the trunk and the fenders were in the backseat. So he has 99% of the body parts and a running car, if he searches hard enough he should be able to find everything else and make this one complete again.
you find some AWESOME old cars!
Thanks!
When someone says abandoned I hear stolen. Your a thief, that's a fact.
I like this, you did the prep work before you fooled with trying to start it.
Never .. Not a sedan of any kind period. And I have wanted a Mopar since I was ten.
Crazy taillights, they look like an after thought, exhaust through bumper is cool.
Packard & Cadillac had exhaust through bumper in 1955 also!
Nice job! I sure hope you can locate the front clip!👍
when I heard the engine fire I had a flashback " Her names Christine"
very cool what year ?? Mid 50s ?? love the sound of the engine :)
so,,you're going to pretend you didn't see that? right?
The cars you have brought back to life so far were easy peassy, but this one is gonna be a hard nut to crack my friend! Wish you luck😄
Yeah, need all the luck i can get on this one..😁, so thanks!
you need to restore it. this need to have a second live!
U the dude. The Imperial & U have a lot of style.
Upon first start, sounds a lot like Christine.
Assume it was being parted out when rescued?
Good work and lovely car .
Hello from France 🇫🇷
We can rebuild it. We have the technology.
Caddys were overrated in 55-56.

Happy to subscribe.
عمل جميل جدا جدا وعاشت اليدي ❤
Maybe clean out the carb?
I’m Amazed! Well done.
This video gave me flashbacks .
Back in 1990 I bought a 1955 Desoto fireflight 4dr sedan in the same color as your Imperial.
Spent a few years restoring it all that was left was a respray.
But then I lost my job and went thru a divorce so I had to sell it.
Cars were made to last back then
