- We picked up this Willys Panel Wagon from a friend's back yard where it sat for at least 30 years. We'll break things loose and get it putzing around.

Nice to see young generation interested in old.machinses. i recommend cleaning out the carb. All that stuff in float bowl will clog jets. Good job!
I've never gotten over my fear of working on a carburetor. It seems straight forward enough but the adjustments needed to get the mixture right gets in my head.
Home run gents! I hope you know what a beautiful place you live in, and the ability to put such gems as this back on the road! God bless!
What a great team you guys make! Glad to see there are some younger people interested in saving part of car history!
One of my favourite Willys, buddy had one in the late '70's and there were many adventures, pretty easy to work on and back then parts were still cheap, loved them and the old Power Wagons, fun vid folks, thanks for sharing!
Fortunately, it looks like many parts are still available through aftermarket sellers online. Thanks for watching.
@@PlateauFarms check the oil, first.
Hey guys, wonderful seeing a bunch of young'uns tearing in to my favorite ride. Not to criticize any, but it's not a panel wagon, it's a Willy's Utility Wagon. First, it has glass in the sides, and 2nd, it's 4X4. If it was 2WD it would be simply a station wagon. Also, despite what the title says, double check a Willy's VIN registry and see if you can find a build date. Alot of these wagons would sit on a sales lot in to a new year and get THAT year on the title. Seeing a small block Ford was no surprise either. Usually it'd be that or a Chevy. My '60 had a 327 out of a '68 Camero. If the gearing had been different I swear it would have out run my '69 Corvette!! Some 35 yrs later, I have a more finished '59 Utilities Wagon. I noticed some question about parting out or not. For all your trouble, I'd say it's got more value as a running, driving wagon. Rust & all! And no self respecting Wagon that survived the '70's with its Ooga horn ought to suffer such an ignoble fate. All these years later, it isn't the Vette I missed! It was my 'ol buddy the Willys. Value? Running... maybe $5K and up. The more you fix it up, the better it's value. It's shocking, actually how things have gone up, what used to be fairly pedestrian and seen more often. Even in the Pacific Northwest you don't see 'em much. Great to see this video! Keep it alive!! 👍
Station wagon
Great job guys glad to see younger guy's working on this older stuff you've earned my subscription
We have plenty of 'old stuff' waiting to be fired up so stay tuned for more.

Patina sucks. It needs panel and paint.
Testament to how user friendly those old things are
❤❤❤❤❤
Great save in progress. Congratulations!!
Just a tip for holding a bolt in your socket … put a bit of rag or paper towel around it and put in the socket holds great🤠👍
Always clean everything. Your job will be a lot easier. Clean job is a happy job. EXCELLENT.
You're Good as Professional that been doing it seance the 70S. Good job Guys!
Fantastic! I loved that shot of you driving and looking down at the non-existent floor haha! Great job.
Using Scrap Metal Would Solve The Problem Of The Missing Floor.
You guys r miracle workers. What a nice team project.
Reminds me of my first Willy's wagon. I traded a 1950 Dodge pu for it in 1978, I was 27 years old and thought I'd hit the jackpot. On my 5th engine (sbc) converted to a Muncie 4 speed in 82, It's still the jewel of my fleet. Hope you have as much fun with yours as I've had with mine. It's been as far south as Ensinada Mexico, North into British Columbia, East to Dallas - Fort Worth and now lives in Northern California.
Great job guys. It's always fun to play with the old rigs. I enjoyed it, thank you.
Thank You!
Love to see young MAN working on CARS. America IS cars. Whitout a car in America you're DEAD. Love you young MAN.
Nice job, excellent team work to get this old Willys panel wagon going. Great video camera footage from all the different angles. Good to see the younger generation enjoying these older vehicles.
Thank you very much!
Excellent job guys!! I really really enjoyed watching this video. It was very well made. Well done and thank you for sharing!!
Thank you very much!
Cleaning the windows would have made our little trip visible !
Thanks lads . i really enjoyed watching.
I am from India.
This is a very very excellent truck. Do be fixing it, and decorating it for festivities. You can get new springs for 150 thousand rupees ( $37).
You might look like slum dogs now, but wait until that thing is washed and painted... I am from India.
Great job guys!
Awesome build with the fam! Enjoyed the video this morning! Thanks
Cool truck
Great vlog guys hope we will see more of this wagon please. so good to see youngsters doing the jobs correctly to well done all. cant wait for the next vid please try to include complete steps of things you do thanks.
We did have more specific footage of the work we did, but it became necessary to edit it out as the video was already ~50 minutes long.
I just love how the bolts come out.. I had 3 of these... and nothing, short of a blow torch would budge any of them hahaha. Great video guys!
Good work boys . You got it running and that’s an accomplishment
Your in luck young man, the engine conversion has been made. My 55 had the Continental 226, nothing but trouble till it went to the dump, have fun.👍
I had a 53 all wheel dr and it had a Chrysler 6 flathead looked original found out continental rod bearings. Wouldn't fit looked up the numbers had another w the continental
Great upload!!! Enjoy the content
That was AWESOME. Reminded me spending time with my two brothers before we even had a license to drive! Must see more! I for sure hit the subscribe button and gave it a BIG Thumbs up!😀❤
Seems like it was a fun project!
Hi from Louisiana, thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋🏼✌🏻
Reminded me of working with my buddies on old Morris 1000s and Austins in the 1970s lots of fun! Just subscribed and looking for more content. Way to get stuck in.
Excellent job. I hope there will be continuity until the vehicle improves!!
Yes there will be more on the jeep. We have some decisions to make regarding the drivetrain, however, as whoever swapped the engine used an adapter casting of unknown origin which allows for only two bolts to hold the transmission to the bellhousing. A such I don't want to start dumping money into it until that problem is solved.
Excelente! Saludos desde Argentina!
Stunning sound though🎉
New sub way to go waking that ole gal up love the moss
Great job Lads,,,,,, ready for next project,,,,,,,🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great video guys congratulations from New Zealand 🇳🇿👍

Great video... now I want one!! 🎉
Had 1950 wagon lots of good memories
Great to see you guys taking on the challenge, can you get it roadworthy now that would be cool to see. Does need a lot of work. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🇦🇺
Lovevthis video❤ thanks for posting the repair to start is a treasure...but
am i the only one saying, " wash me plz"
Next time we work on it, the first thing we'll do is wash it. Just thought it would be a funny visual; seeing it drive around covered in moss and ferns.
what a fun panel wagon.
Aint she pretty. The queen of the furrow. A dream machine for this old timer. Worth a 'Like'. Take care...
I'am 51 And The Older The Vehicle Is The More I Like It When It's Repaired And Restored.
Thank you for using a tripod. So many car repair channels are unwatchable due to nauseating handheld shots. It's rare I fine one that I can sit through for more than a few minutes. Thanks for sharing!
Ótimo trabalho. Parabéns
Parabéns munto top. Um abraço do Brazil🇧🇷
If its a standard, Put oil in the cylinders and Put it in 4 gear, Pull the truck and pop the clutch, she will free up.I started a Big block ford 460, sat in a 3/4 ton for 31 years, It freed first try.
We would have done more before pulling the transmission, but when we replaced the starter, we realized the bellhousing was full of sand so we wanted to take it apart anyway.
Waiting on the next video. With a few refinements you'll have a million subs
well done guys😃
young men you are wonderful every thing was great i salute you for your stamina great generation indeed🎉🎉
Your dog sounds pretty stunned. Subbed.
Good.job Nice truck Willys good show 😃👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Was going to comment that at the end you should have pressure washed it then sprayed it with some old oil to keep it from rusting more. But then decided that the rust is probably the only thing holding it together. hahaha Cool old wagon.
Parabéns para toda equipe por o motor funcionar depois de 30 anos parado 👏👏👏👏👏
In high school I wanted a fast convertible; now, older & wiser, a Willys wagon would have been great in those days and now😁
Ed c
Make the willys go fast and you can have both!
My uncle used to have them when I was little. Hope you get it finished up. Don’t know where you’re located, but I’m interested if you don’t.
Looks like a V8 Ford... I have a 1959 Willys Utility Wagon w/ original engine! Good luck Boys!

..
Well I'm not complaining or nothing but you know they do make ratcheting wrenches
Im still driving my OPEL FRONTERA 2.2 16 V PETROL 1994 4 X 4 ...JUST SIMILAR. 🎉
Very good boys
A great revival! with some TLC she could be back onthe road. Onward!
The frame and Drivetrain are in decent shape, it's really just the body that has suffered so much deterioration.
That is a cool body style. It sets cool. Clean it up and restore it. I sure would.
With all the grease and dirt on the splines for front drive shaft, will make a really good grinding compound!!!
Love the chickens
A Willie’s Panel Wagon! I bet parts for THOSE are damn hard to find!!!
Wow Tolle Arbeit :-)
Cool, men nice work, now wash and enjoy
Parabéns pelo carro muito top
Would be great if you guys could, restore the old girl! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I couldn't believe seeing that Suntune temp. gauge . Haven't seen any Suntune gauges since the late 70s . Kmart sold the brand , gauges and dwell/tach and timing lights . The mech oil pressure was notorious for leaking . 👍
Salute...🎉
I am waiting for the jeep wash. Another action I like it so much.
Love those high performance “cherry bomb” mufflers.
I had two of these, both with the small-block Ford. I pretty much ate the entire supply of T90 parts in western Washington with those trucks,
Those were big back in the 50s. What year is it.
51 by the title
You guys are doin a fine job I gayrontee.
you are so talented
Yes They Are Very Talented Mechanics.
Cool old rig! Would like to see a cleanup video on it
So Would I And Takin To A Car Show.
Marvel Mystery in the spark plug openings!!
Say, do you have any windex to spray on that olde windshield? 🤔
That looks like a Ford engin?? What in the world is that doing in that old Willy's I would have figured that truck for a flat head! I'm just glad you youngsters are after it, vehicle like that should not have been left.Really nice to see among the young guys interested in old stuff
I am SHOCKED, absolutely SHOCKED! You guys got the farm shop cleared out enough to actually get the Willies in under cover. AMAZING! :) It hasn't been that cleared out in ....... ummmm..... probably 40 years. Well, enough of that, I do have a couple of questions; what is the little burst of flame seen at 8:50 to 8:56 just above the right headlight? What did you use for the clutch plate alignment pin at 35:22? A 38:00 it looks as though there is a crack across the bottom of the flange that mates to the bell housing, is that correct? When are you going to tackle the Road Grader?.........Reminds me a lot of the resurrection of the Put Put. :) Hey, you could name it Put-Put II.
Clearing the shop has been a slow but rewarding process. The burst of flame is a backfire from the Carb which started a small fire on top of the engine. We used a plastic alignment tool that came with some past clutch job, although the pilot pin had to be turned down, the splines matched being a somewhat standard 10 spline by 1 1/8" shaft. That crack is the result of what the person who swapped the engine did to adapt the bellhousing to that intermediate casting flange. They brazed on a steel plate to the cast housing. It is not structural at all, unfortunately, meaning that only the top two bolts are holding things together. This is the greatest mental impedance for us when considering where to continue the project form here. As for the road grader, we recently got a 40ton porta power pancake jack to remove the wheel hubs so we can extract the final drive chain. Hopefully. we will film the Put-Put's second revival for RUclips before too long as well. Thanks for Watching.
@@PlateauFarms Thanks for the reply! Good to hear that the grader is on the list of revivals. :) It's always an "interesting" experience finding what others have done to a piece of machinery in order to repair or "upgrade"n it. You mght be able to beef up that braze then turn the steel plate flush with the face of the trany and have a workable solution to the bell-housing/trany mismatch.
Terry Thomas's character in "It's a mad mad mad world" drove one of these. Full restoration required.
PROWD of you young MEN. Nice
That would be a great rebuild
I love Willys....Even the chickens 🐔 helped! hahahaha...
Молодцы ребята!
😂son Grosoooooos !!!!! Jajajajajjaj Chapeau chicos !!!!!!💪💪💪💪
Nice
Jack up end then drop
Here we go with another RUclips channel of will it start😂 yes if it has an engine it will start eventually😂
The Old Ooga Horn Reminds Me Of The Antique Front Crank Automobiles.
Yall need to do a pressure wash video and clean her up inside and outside.🤠👍
Такой аппарат вообще есть смысл восстановить до идеала!
Hello, good video, what engine does it have, is it the original, here in Argentina they were also manufactured, but with a 6-cylinder in-line engine, I think the engine was called continental, greetings
