    "Read the roof."
    Interesting take on how "Tobey Spidey" gives off a post-therapy attitude. He kinda does give off those vibes.
    This movie didn't just do what it was supposed to, it was an accomplishment. Combining three franchise reboots into one and giving them all emotional closure, is going above and beyond. And somehow they nailed what on paper is an impossible task. Plus the Andrew saving MJ bit made me cry.
    As far as retconning his power creep, they didn't entirely do that. He's still got a Stark-tech spidey-suit (unless the login passwords stopped working) and they still made him way too strong. He isn't exactly Daredevil level now. But the fact that they introduced Matt Murdoch here means maybe he is. We'll see.

    I think Tom has signed on for two more trilogies. He’s done the the first three for high school, now he’s gonna go do work/college, and then three where he’s just being Spider-Man. I think that last trilogy is where he can do more Avengers things. But for the next three just cameos and small team ups.

    I recently moved into a new apartment really nice apartment, in a really nice building, and in a great neighborhood. But my old place was a glorified closet and a shit hole to boot which had a mice infestation. Moved in the old place in 2020 and it was very hard during the heart of the Covid-19 Pandemic to find places letting new people in, hence why I was living there.
    I was living at the old place when I saw No Way Home for the 1st time and it's really depressing when the "depressing" apartment in a film is nicer than yours 🤣

    Not sure if anyone else has explained this, but during the final fight the villains aren’t working together and have different goals. Sandman asks Peter to give him the box so he can use it to go home, Electro wants to destroy it to stay, the Lizard presumably wants to go home so he can continue with his plan in TASM though he might also be afraid of dying and plans to continue his plans in the MCU (he didn’t get much focus so we can’t be sure), and the Green Goblin just wants to kill people and cause problems.

    I prefer a street-level Spidey. The character is best when he's tragic rather than a power fantasy for male nerds like me, and it gets kind of hard to have a personal tragedy when your character is so powerful and competent he's beating up star-sized monsters who can eat planets, you know? Like, how can you figure out how to stop Galactus but you can't figure out how to pay rent?

    • @Bananahammock681
      @Bananahammock681 2 года назад

      Now I'm just imagining Spidey standing on Galactus' shoulder quipping at him over and over until he gives up and goes away out of sheer annoyance. Older then our universe, but never known a more annoying thing than our friendly neighbourhood wall crawler.

    • @Salik96
      @Salik96 2 года назад

      Paying rent is way different than beating a planet eater.

    • @elbruces
      @elbruces 2 года назад +2

      The main problem I always had with Spidey was that this kid personally invented an adhesive that can instantly hold tons of pressure, and then neatly dissolves itself after a few hours. Not to mention it's incredibly portable and easy to apply. I can't even begin to imagine the industrial applications and the millions he'd get if he patented that. But he still can't pay rent. The Toby McGuire movies kind of solved that (can't exactly milk his wrists for large scale production), but then they went back to the other thing.
      As far as the "beating up Galactus" thing, that's known as "power creep." In the MCU, there are still plenty of street-level characters to enjoy, Daredevil for example.

    My mind cannot be changed. Willem Dafoe is the best Joker, even beating out Mark Hamill. The terrifying grin as he's being punched and bloodied in the hallway is absolute Joker energy and I hate, love and am scared witless by it. And I'm not even a Bat-fan.
    Glad you ladies enjoyed the film again, it's one of the few MCU flicks I can watch a few times over, too. Perfect way to make nostalgia work for your story, not hamper it. Almost as enjoyable to me as Cobra Kai, in the nostalgia feels department.

    • @jp3813

      Unfortunately, Mark's facial expressions aren't part of his Joker, so it's hard to compare. But as much as I love Willem's performance here, he doesn't have the wide variety of laughter that Mark utilizes.

    Tony NEVER put Peter in life threatening situations because he was the only one who knew he was a kid. The only fight Tony asked Peter to fight was civil war, which was a fight amongst friends, so there was no real danger because they knew none of them would kill. In Infinity war, Peter goes out of his own free will and Tony even attempts to send him home a few times.

    I love this movie but it continues a problem I’ve had with these Spider-Man movies: The villains don’t feel like Spider-Man’s villains. Vulture and Mysterio felt like they were trying to be Iron Man villains and this movie uses Spider-Man villains but not THIS Spider-Man’s villains. I feel if they had added Mysterio in the final battle it would’ve helped establish him more as this Spider-Man’s villain, give us a true Sinister Six, and would’ve helped Spider-Man’s public image.
    Also I think they should’ve shown us a screenshot of the other Peters at the end of the movie. Tobey’s Peter working with Doc Ock in the lab and Andrew’s Peter meeting his MJ or chasing after Black Cat. It would’ve been nice

      The thing is Tom's Spider-Man villains already settled at the time, while the other Spidey villains were taken from before they were taken care off. With that in mind they starting their own take to cure each one of them since they never had the chance last time except for Andrew's Lizard. As for sinister six there is a 1 left out(Venom) which is not so sinister as they're the Lethal Protector.

    • @Bananahammock681

      It sort of makes sense if you look at this as an origin trilogy. He starts off being sculpted, and truing to be Iron Man Jr until the end he gives up the fancy tech-infused suit and crafts his own (which to my nerd brain looks the best of the whole lot) by hand to become Spider-man. So dealing with Iron Man fallout isn't so bad. I get the critique though, and agree with it for the most part. Spidey's villains are wonderful (and dumb, so sayeth Deadpool) and shouldn't be focused on others before Spidey.
      If they do a 4th, I'd absolutely want it to be Kraven vs Spidey. One on one, no Avengers shtick, no bloated cast, just the hunt. Scale everything back to kick off a new trilogy.
