I LOVE my Viltrox 23 on my Fuji X-S10 and it would be the one lens I'd take if I could only grab one. I think 35mm equivalent is the best all 'round lens as it serves the best for anything from Craig's List photos, Vlogging, RUclips talking head studio videos, walking around/street photos and even landscapes.
Yes, that’s my favourite all purpose focal length as well. This lens is 36mm equivalent, in crop mode, so it can act as a 24 and 36, which is super versatile.
I thought this would be great for the A7IV because you basically get 24 and 36 mm for photo and even more for video if you include crop sensor mode and active stabilization.
Comprehensive review thank you. Did you try it for astrophotography? The comparison I’m interest in is vs the Samyang AF 24mm f1.8. The Samyang allegedly has CA issues but some also suggest is pretty good for astrophotography vs the Sony GM that is of course highly regarded price notwithstanding. I do quite a bit of walk around night street photography and have the Sony 20mm f1.8 that works well on APS-C and FF but I’m looking for something with a bit tighter framing and a decent 24mm would be great. Thanks..!
I have not tested it. I doubt it would be as good as the Sony 20mm. Check Christ Frost, see if he has reviewed the lens, he might have some info in his video.
@@bradl2636 I think that's a safe bet then. I would go that way. The Viltrox is not a clinical lens, its borderline a "character" lens. As I said , I have not tested it for Astro, but the Samyang is a safer bet for sure.
Seems like a good lens for RUclipsr doing talking heads videos in his bedroom. Not a lot light is needed and background blurr can cover some mess in the room.

That’s how I use it.
@@markwiemels sweet! I just got mine in today!
@@JustAverageLarry enjoy! I’m sure you will love it.
I've been looking for a FE compatible lens in the 24mm range to compliment the Yongnuo 85mm 1.8 I picked up on your suggestion. Maybe this is it?!?!
Undeniably the Best Budget Lens out there
Yeah, it’s a beauty.
great job mark, lots of great sample footage too!
Thanks!

@@markwiemels Chris seems to really like the Samyang.

Helo...what about Tokina Firin 20mm F2?

So, nothing for CANON EF?
No, it’s a mirrorless lens, so no ef, and canon has blocked them from making RF lenses.
Mine is defective and still under warranty, but Viltrox will not honor their policy. Don’t buy it.
good video but try to work on your filler words 😁
