    So rare to see someone completely unselfconscious and totally comfortable with her whole self. You never see that today.

      yet she says she's shy and squirming about in the chair.She isn't comfortable at times and she is on National television that in itself would maybe make one uncomfortable?She also can't believe she's on T.V.She mentions that too.

    An illuminated apprentice who pays attention to what the masters do. Her views of God, of death and of love were lightyears ahead of the norm. She's still with us, and still bestowing wisdom.

    • @PAULLONDEN
      @PAULLONDEN 6 лет назад

      Yup , especially that "god" is a "he" ......
      "god is such a turn on" man......👍🏻😇
      30:53 < this babble sure was light years ahead .
      "I love my country too"...she seems light years ahead of herself .
      Pat looked great here , which doesn't mean she can't babble bullcrap now & then like the rest of us....
      Some will state that the U.S. two party state became a one party state after 1963 , propping up military regimes left right & centre so people like Patti can live in freedom ....but yeh......god is so cool man .
      Her country ain't called for nothing "God's Own Country", where "his" name is printed on each dollar , so you better love "him".....or "he" might again punish the whole of humanity because once upon a time some woman (who else ?) had the audacity to pluck an apple from "his" fave apple tree ....

      @@PAULLONDEN Boy, you have an ax to grind, don't you? Try reading Robert Venturi's "Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture." It may bring you some valuable insights about how things are not so black and white. What is most endearing about Patti Smith here (for me) is her youthful innocence. She wasn't stupid, just being a real person.
      That was confirmed for me a year or two ago when she flubbed Dylan's song at the Nobel Prize award ceremony. A real person all right.

    • @PAULLONDEN
      @PAULLONDEN 4 года назад

      *@Noe Berengena* Well yeah ...have to agree with you there .......around the mid 70's we still had somewhat innocent ideas about "America the Great" ..... My silly rant was somewhat caused because of post 9-11 U.S. politics, and seeing "god" more like an entity or "it" rather than a "he" (I'd rather see "god" more as a "she" bytheway) and expected Patti to be hip about this . Hopefully the great American people will one day demand a true independent party to enter the election process , rather than this political block of the (far) right governing their nation since 1963 ; where the two allowed political parties both allow the Pentagon unconditional access to the people's treasury no questions asked , which usually is the privilege of military regimes.

      @@PAULLONDEN Hey, just found Patti on the cover of a free Harper's Bazaar December 2022 issue. There's a big article about her and her thoughts. I haven't finished reading it but so far I've taken away her ability to stay in the light (not spotlight but the LIGHT) despite being aware of the stupidity, greed and evil everywhere. It's pretty reasonable for you and I to bemoan the overwhelming crises that human beings have created, acting personally and as a species. Patti never went the route of the poet Robinson Jeffers -- he looked upon humanity as the worst thing to happen to this planet. I'd say that he would have gladly welcomed the extinction of most or of all humanity to sweep the decks clean. I'm intrigued by Patti Smith although I am certainly not an expert on her creative pursuits. I thought her book "Just Kids" was good reading and revealed a sensitive and smart person who still has a heart.

    Though my views differed some I really liked Patti Smith's honesty about how she sees the whole world, her country, life and the afterlife. It's good to listen to other views without arguing about who's right or who's wrong, but appreciating that there are other views and different experiences that add or subtract from how we see things. I also liked how star struck she was not just by Johnny Carson, but by Tom Snyder too. She was giddy😄. Now I feel I have to mention Donald Wrinkles. Come on people wasn't he a delight? I especially loved the check mixup and the riveting game of Simon Says. He really stole the show👏👏👏.
