I like how’s she’s not trying to “be” anything, that she’s just herself, not concerned with how the world perceives her just like Bob Dylan-it’s what makes them great.
I keep coming back to this year after year. Just saw Patti Smith group live, one of best days of my life. What a beautiful soul, what a beautiful artist. Gift to us all.
+Sharon Blackwell I thought so, too. She made me think about my own experiences as a child and my pets. I was disappointed that the interviewer did not pursue discussing her reading. If you look at him and his movements right after she stops reading, he is not effected at all. And so just immediately starts off on a separate subject. It was almost jarring for me!
darkmaitri to be fair it’d be a sensitive topic she said she almost teared up reading it I would want someone to keep asking me about such a topic have some decency we’re humans not robots
I cried too. My beloved miniature Australian Shepherd who taught me how to love passed away early in the morning on Christmas Day. We had been together for 15 years. I have been depressed since, but I have found a shelter dog a few months ago. Patti knows hurt and love. I have met her.
I am in awe of this woman; this person; this very special living individual... some people just got ' it ' whatever that is, and she's got so much of this ' it '. I wish I had her vocabulary and I might be able to explain better what I feel in her presence, and I am not EVEN THERE at the festival.
Anytime someone is confident and secure in their thoughts, insightful by their nature, someone will almost always claim they're "pretentious" or "full of themselves". I love Patti's way of expression. Rock on Patti.
People are afraid of being human and feeling things. Especially now. It involves them being vulnerable and open. So when someone is assured in their feelings and thinking, People confuse that genuine-ness with fake-ness, because they themselves can't seem to find or come to know and understand themselves. That's why Sarcasm and Memes are so popular, it's deflection from what's real. People can't handle Truth.
I cried as Patti read about Bambi, the loss is unbearable ... 37 years ago my spirit dog died. She comes to be so often in dreams .... LOVE you Patti and Bambi (and Noki, my dog)
God bless Bambi. She is a special dog indeed. You are so special Patti Smith. I cried like a baby when you told that beautiful story of Bambi. PATTI SMITH ROCKS!
My first dog was a beautiful girl. I knew her from birth, she belonged to a dear friend, who died much to young. We took her home without a doubt, although our landlord didn't allow any animals. She was an angel and even took the heart of our landlord in a minute. I worked as a nurse in a retirement home at this time and was allowed to bring her with me . Our patients loved her so much. She always knew who felt sad, and lonely or was in pain. She lay down by their side and comforted them. She died in 2012. I'll never forget her
I just love Patti, she is so calming to watch. I see bits of her myself, especially the Peter Pan part. Shes so inspirational, deep, wise, funny, intelligent, and sweet but still a badass poet/singer songwriter/author/artist ! there'll never be another Patti Smith !!!
tall32guy I listen to her audiobooks when I'm uptight or sad, her voice soothes me and grounds me again. Actually I listen to them when I'm happy too, I love her voice and what she has to say.
Yes, Patti, so many people have read it. I live in Dublin, Ireland and I have been mesmerized by Just Kids over the past few weeks reading it. I once visited an exhibition of Robert's in Paris, and loved it. And 'Because the Night' is probably the only song of yours that I have known. Looking forward to checking out all your work now. Congrats and keep up the good work!
I also have always loved the song 'Because the Night.' I never knew who wrote/sang it. A few years back, I read her memoir, "Just Kids". OMG...I've always loved memoirs but hers opened up a whole new world. I, too, will check out everything she has created.
Daisy jones and the Six series brought me here. I loved the intro song and this is how I got to Patti Smith. What a beautiful, genuine soul! ⭐️ I live in Dk and I went many times to Louisiana museum. What a lovely surprise to see that she was here and I can watch this now.
WOW talk about inspiring!!! She has this way of offering new perspectives and insights (on pretty much everything) that are so uplifting and wonderful. She had me both laughing and crying but mostly just listening intently to everything she was saying. Awesome interview!
I'm 62 years old, have had three husbands that died of AIDS, and another older husband that died of old age, stayed with them all until the bitter end, and what she said is true: It's worth it! Just don't forget the LOVE, that's what makes it worth it!
I lived in Woodbury. Patti was only 2 min from my house where I grew up. She was in Deptford but the neighborhood was called Woodbury Gardens.Right by the Ho Down Hall. I am proud that she lived by me.
Patti's mother, Beverly, and my mother, Judy were very close friends. They hung around together with another woman from the area, named Ruth Smith. I was born and raised in South Jersey and grew up across the tracks from where Patti's family moved to. I didn't meet her until I went to see her perform in the 70's at a club in Philadelphia with my mom, her mom, & Ruth. She sang songs from her Horses album that night. We went to her dressing room after her performance and visited with her. She has a very beautiful heart~ www.artfulexpressionofyou.jimdo.com
shes so much like a child, haha, as she said! but I can sense how spiritually developed she is, makes me feel so great. There's such an amazing beauty that glows from her.
I love Patti. And I've listened to many accounts about her writing - poems, memoirs - all important and very interesting. Why does no one ask her about her musical performances?
she is not insecure..she is not stuck on her looks..she is confident and real. no fake hair, fake nails. no pounds of makeup, no plastic SURGERY or botox

Captain hook can't touch you for you both for you and Bambi have much acorn hearts of gold. In fact Patti I wrote a story about Bambi and I call you Patti blue mittens in the story. I am so truly moved Patti. GOD"S DOG BLESSINGS TO YOU FROM SARA who talks with her many spirit dogs all the time ,I have a different tune for each beloved dog spirit even Bambi of whom I never meet as a child but I wished you lived near me with your angel BAMBI. sara a dog being love is for you only
Patti was initially accurate in her early assessment of Warhol. She has become kinder in her more recent estimation of his artistic contribution to our culture. I agree with her that a great artist should not mirror the culture around them but should provide a means of transcending it. Warhol was overly consumed with the world of celebrities and was intent on becoming one. (Read his diaries and you will see very clearly his limited ability to envision a greater perspective.)
Well yeah i can see your point, but artists don't always see the depth of their work, the art itself trancends the artists meaning and can mean something completly different to the viewer years down the line
Oh my God I love all of our girls just alittle bit more ...now...our puppy girls mommy and daddy will always love you...and we miss you Sammy,Misty Ginger Winnie ...God
Would love to know the address of Patti's childhood home in Germantown PA- It is also the the place of the first WHITE HOUSE in America as well as one of the first battles in the Revolutionary War. Another great person for Germantown.
Nobel that's great. Did she recieved that award for all of her work helping women around the world concerning thier human rights? I'm sure that she has done alot to help Muslim woman. I think that I read on one of her albums that she became a Muslim. I would like to know how she has helped them. I have 4 of her albums. I grew up near New York. I hope someone responds to this question.
I am 64 years old and when I hear her speak, it make feel young and eager to learn her wisdom
*She has an amazing talking voice...some people are blessed with that i guess*
So few people could just sit there and talk to a crowd of people the way she does it. Its magical to just watch online.
+River Rat Agreed..."magical" is a perfect word for it!
I read her book "Just Kids" in one day, I couldn't stop reading it! I have never done that before, because I'm a slow reader!
I LOVE PATTI SMITH
@@jimmyjoejeeter2366 She has a book of photography released this month of November. Book of Days
She really is a very special person
Oh Dear God, she speaks like a wise and golden angel. If we could follow her advice, none of us would ever be "depressed" again.

What she said about our world in 2012 holds true today in 2022. Patti is inspiring and true to her values. I smiled, laughed & cried
The beautiful reading about her dog, touched me deep inside.
endeneux It broke my heart and was very touching. Animals are our most precious treasures in this world.
