Hi Jared ive been ask to film a full boxing event.. but I normaly do photography. My Canon r6 MKii (and a r6 mk1) has ofcourse a video function. But is it good enough you think? Or possible with this camera?
Yes, for sure. The r6 II would be a better option because it offers unlimited recording. I would shoot it in 24.fps or 30fps. It shouldn’t overheat then. Practice first and make sure your shutter is 1/50th for 24fps or 1/60th for 30fps. It’s always double the frames per second.
If you want another full frame then go for the R6 ii. Video is amazing and so is the battery and low light ability. If you want a tool that give you a different look with the same lens then the R7. With the crop it gives extra reach to your lens. I actually like the look of the 1.6x crop. It gives a nice cinematic look. This is why I have both r6 ii and R7.
I don't disagree with you. I did actually set it for one stop over exposed, but I shot this at the end of day and there for we were near sunset with clouds. I also made the choice of crushing the blacks more for the look I was going for. The R6II does bring in more light and produces a higher histogram than the R6 so they wont match exactly with the same settings.
Straight out of camera the r6 did, but after adjusting the white balance and editing the r6 ii is perfect. Too many pros over the r6. The r6 ii is superior in picture quality. Don't get me wrong...r6 is still amazing and I loved it. But, the mark ii is better.

But I am sure AF will be improved with firmware too. Btw, what colour space did you use for Clog? I wonder if that is the issue. Generally Cinema Gamut will give the best results for dynamic range. Also, are you using colour LUTs or correcting manually? The Standard profiles looked so clean at high ISOs too compared to Clog. All great questions. Your m1 max will run the h265 10bit smoothly so no worries. Im editing on a pc with a rtx 3080 and it runs well, but im moving to mac studio next yr because of how well it rins davinci resolve. Gimbal is preferred to keep it level. Crane 2s is good.

Great video. I know how long these comparison videos take to put together, so I appreciate it. I have a question for you about 24.98fps, specifically with Canon mirrorless cameras. I have stopped using this setting due to the choppiness of the footage during any moving shots, no matter how minimal the movement is. It's not usable in my opinion and for that reason, I stick to 29.97fps or higher to help minimize it. Have you noticed this as well? Thanks.
Thank you! I notice in davinci resolve if I accidently edit the 23.98 footage in a 24fps timeliness it's choppy. The canon 60fps slowed 40% into a 23.98fps timeliness looks smooth and natural.
That's a good question. It's playable just fine in davinci resolve on a pc with a rtx 3080 gpu or higher, but.........It's flawless on a Macbook pro m2 natively as a stand alone file or in davinci resolve. Mac plays h265 natively, which pc does not, so h265 is a perfect codec to edit when you have a Mac with m1 or m2 chip. That is why I left pc in march and never looked back. My mac blows away my pc build with a 3080 rtx gpu.

Although vids are synced together they may have started a split sec apart when I hit record. That may effect flicker. Thos lights are not flicker lights so what you are seeing is shutter speed sync.
@@JaredHoyman I would guess that too, quite interesting though how sync so clearly effects their visibility....I assume you synced the video with your audio track.
That doest seem right on thr mk2 there I s lot of settings on focusing should be like that
First thing I see is that Canon decided to show it's middle finger to red tones on the mkii and mk love to blue tones
I will say that was a white balance issue and I have not experienced that personally since I fully setup my camera.
R6 colours look better to me😎😍😃
Definitely, straight out of camera it looks pleasing
what about 10bit 422 clog video from r6mk2? is the file (h265 codec) playable in pc?
That's a good question. It's playable just fine in davinci resolve on a pc with a rtx 3080 gpu or higher, but.........It's flawless on a Macbook pro m2 natively as a stand alone file or in davinci resolve. Mac plays h265 natively, which pc does not, so h265 is a perfect codec to edit when you have a Mac with m1 or m2 chip. That is why I left pc in march and never looked back. My mac blows away my pc build with a 3080 rtx gpu.
@@JaredHoyman thanku bruh.. Would u mind sharing a sample footage. Just 10 second footage 10 bit clog3 422 footage. If i can do it it would help fulfill my research abt canon side. I have mac osx Catalina and for edit and colouring i use premiere 2022.
Друг подскажи, на R6 у тебя куртка фиолетовая, а на R6-ii куртка черная. Настоящий цвет куртки какой?
Ti praw, 2 raznie zwet tam vidno.
are you using the same model lens on both bodies?
One has the 15-35 rf at 35mm and the other has the 24-70 rf at 35mm. Both are canon L series RF and performance, glass and focal length are at the same high performance. I have noticed since this test I have tweaked autofocus settings on R6II and have found it to very good.
@@JaredHoyman Thanks for the info. I feel like that could be causing some of the color discrepancy. Hard to say. Nice test either way!
Yeah the R6 looks better. Focus too?
1. Hunting AUTOFOCUS issues
2. IPB only and the worst codecs to work with them.
3. 4.2.2 10 bit, ONLY with c-log.
The Cripple Hummer strikes again...
Every brand has a cripple Hammer. That's why @cameraconspiracies channel will keep rocking it. If the perfect one came out he would have to end his channel. BTW...love that guy. Stay tuned for the 6k Raw test.
@@JaredHoyman Oh yes.
The BIG CRIPPLE HUMMER in his Chanel ALWAYS REFERS TO CANON 😅😅
Cripple hammer will never leave.
@@kifley19 I've been shooting video and film for over 25yrs. There is a cripple hammer in every product out there. Hotwater heaters used to last 20-30yrs. Now they are dead in 10. Why? Because the cripple hammer! There is no money in the long term in something that works amazing. Its there on purpose so you buy the next thing. They'll never give us everything. It's just not in the cards for us.
Like I’ve said before, love your videos man! Can’t wait to see more of your content and what other interesting things you have in store! God Bless Man!
Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement. Who knows....keep asking and maybe I'll have a camera to give away eventually. For now.....I don't get free cameras and I can't afford to give away what I have 😉
God bless you as well. Maybe not a camera but I may have a free LUT to give away this month. Trying to find something of use to give back to all of you who have subscribed to me so I can show you all how much I appreciate you.
@@JaredHoyman That’s awesome man! I got you! Imma keep the comedy going! As long as you keep the great content coming. I’ve learned more this year than I have ever learned!
Thanks for the video
I think you tested the autofocus of the cameras much better than others
The viewer had enough time to analyze all the reactions of the camera
Overall, the video was very helpful for me
Because of this video, I proudly subscribe to your channel
Thank you! I'm glad it helped you. I appreciate the comment.
I laughed out loud when you said “let’s get undone.” 🤣 it caught me off guard because I watch Gerald as well - just because of that (along with how awesome this video was) I had to subscribe. 🥹
I love Gerald Undone. Great content. Welcome aboard!
I like your comparison style. Thank you. But my eyes were focused on the shadows, as a canon fan im disappointed with the dynamic range compared to Sony A7s3 or A74. You have to jump to the C70 to get decent dynamic range but its bulky and expensive and not a great hybrid shooter.
The c70 with Clog 2 does have great dynamic range, but I would not use my footage as an example of Dynamic range. I crushed the blacks on purpose and could have lifted more of the shadows. That was the look I was going for. I have not shot on sony before, but everything you said about dynamic range is what I have heard. I'll have to test one out eventually.
Thank you by the way on the comparison style. Good feedback for future comparisons.
@Visible Tour thanks. It would be great if you could do a similar test between the R62 and Sony A74
@Nader.subaih if I can get my hands on a a74 I will.
The things that really stand out in this video is that you have Iron Chef Michael Symon's voice and that is obviously the Home Alone House in the back. And I'm not sold on the R6ii yet. I need more compelling reasons to switch, or I can just skip it.
All great points! Especially the Home Alone house. My son dresses and looks like Kevin so I may have to do a shoot in front of that house with him. One subscriber said I sound like Vin Diesel and another said Christian Slater. Keep them coming 😆
@@JaredHoyman That sounds awesome with the Home Alone Skit. Yes You have an east coast New York, Cleveland thing with your accent lol. The only thing I wanted from the R6ii was that it have more Dynamic Range then the R6. Test with Josh Statin shows that even the r7 seems to outdo the r6ii with Dynamic range
Your video is useful. Many thanks with respect!
Thank you!
thank you for your work!
Honestly I like the colors of the r6 so n this video more :). Maybe the grading :).
I graded for the R6 Mark II Clog3 and then just copied and pasted it onto the R6. With the picture profiles I found they look identical, but in Clog3 the R6 is a little more magenta. I personally prefer the greener tone on the R6 Mark II, but its subjective and can be easily changed in color grading.
You are losing your eyes off frame on the mark ii in your test. The one or two times you did that on the mark I it acted similarly...
If I did it over I would have done more test on the other side
@@JaredHoyman The angle of the cameras is contributing to it...
@VisibleTour You are losing both eyes out of the frame on the mark ii based on the angle, and you still have at least one eye in frame on the mark i...
Great test.
Thank you!
ir pollution on the R6 is bad… Unless thats a color grade issues? Black coat is reddish…
It's the R6. I graded both of them identical. R6ii has excellent color.
When I film with my R6 Log 3,
It stop/glitches to frames during playback every since I got it. Can anyone tell me why is that happening to me?
I got to the point that I want to sell my R6 and get the R6 II
What SD card are you using? I had issues with slower cards on my original r6 that would glitch.
Get a faster SD card. Solved it for me. A v60 will do the trick.
It's good that Joe Satriani is becoming a photographer. 😁😁😁
@@Tiempodereflexionar lol…that’s a new one.
Hmmm, you recorded these at the same time and I’m watching the Christmas lights on your bush behind you and obviously your voice, mouth and everything is in sync but it’s interesting how the LED lights on the bush behind you are not exactly the same, so what’s up with that? 😁
But it also shows the potential for big issues, so many venues etc use these types of lights so when making videos can create...problems.
There is a anti flicker option. I haven't tried it so maybe that's another test.
@@JaredHoyman There is anti-flicker on the mark ii for sure...
strangely the r6 wins in this video all the tests, autofocus which does not pick up, and the colors are warmer more beautiful, even the house behind is brighter, whereas it is dark on the mark 2, strange
I have tweaked the autfocus since the video and have not had a problem since. My settings may have been off. As for color that is in log. Profiles they are the same. For log you can change the warmth, but I prefer the look of the mark II.
Did you just use sign language saying you got me an R6 Mark II? Lol you shouldn’t have!
Love. These videos dude! I’m excited to get an R6 Mark II in the next year or 2.
Lol.
Is it me or the R6 gives a lesson to R6 II in autofocus field??😂
One major drawback for me no original canon c log in the mark ii
We need that firmware update no doubt!
I'll be testing out 6k RAW soon and what I'm discovering is that it wouldn't take much of a firmware update to allow regular 6k video internally non raw to be done on a v90 card. Here's to hoping.
Try looking for an option that says Preview Focus something like that, and let me know if that works for you
@@royaltykidstv I'll take a look.
Great video, exactly what I was looking for. New sub from me. Thanks.
That's awesome! Thank you!
Let's get undone😀🤟
R6 looks better IMO
