Thank you John! I just purchased a amber bone trapper from Basspro and didn't notice the main blade had a slight lean which bummed me out when I got home and really sat down to inspect the knife. I will definitely be trying this when I get home from work 🙌🏼
Good video my knife loving bro of another MO... 🤔😀But in reality, why is a knife leaving Case Factories with crooked blades, spine gaps, blades loose and wobbling???... This just pisses me off... Case just needs to get their $hit together... Just horrible... I'm sic about this...
Ok, I just stopped the video and tried this several times with my Rough Ryder Bow Trapper and it did not work. There is a bit of play in the main blade in half stop position. Can there be a different issue and maybe a different fix to the blade centering issue?
@@flitdek yes, I wish I had gone into more detail but wanted to make it short, 1) if the hole is not drilled perpendicular to both sides of frame=in this scenario you should see a flaw in the bolster as the pin would show a gap on one side. 2) Hole is not drilled perpendicular in blade itself. This would result in noticeable gap on both sides of blade between blade and liners but opposite from one side of blade to the other. Both of the above scenarios unfortunately can’t be repaired without drilling out a larger pin hole and inserting a larger pin. The more common issue , with the fix I recommended is that there is a burr on one side of the blade from where it was punched out from a solid sheet of steel. The fixed I described works on Case knives with brass liners but with steel liners not so great. And if not done early enough the knife will wear away at the liners itself and make it harder if not impossible to center once it wore itself in crooked.
@@JohnKlahr Thank you for responding. The pin seems fine, no noticeable gapping. Maybe the hole in the tang is a touch off. Many Rough Ryders have this issue. They make some beautiful knives. I just wish they would fix this issue with their build. Small gap in the spring I can tolerate but blade centering issues jus make me feel bad about mu purchase, and make me question buying Rough Ryder. Thanks again.

John this didnt really work for me. Maybe im not being aggresive enough or im not doing it long enough. I will try some more. Im guessing it will work or you wouldn't have ever made this video😂 thanks again for sharing.
@@BaxtersBlades did you get it to center any at all? And yes, you got to make like you want to break it , but please be careful. Is the knife tight with no blade wobble?
