- My hope is that showing you the contents you can keep in this small knipex pouch will convince you to ditch your multitool, and go with a setup like this. With this pouch, I can keep all of my edc items together in one kit. All I need to remember now is my wallet, phone, keys, and kit. It simplifies my carry, and allows me to work on a variety of jobs.

A small ViceGrip with wire cutter can be a danged handy thing. There are days that I simply carry one in my pocket along with the pocket knife. I used a grinder to smooth off the sharp corners on the tool to prevent it wearing holes in my pocket.
Absolutely, I was trying to fit some 4 inch vice grips but they're too tall, I wish they would come out with a 3 inch pair because I think that would be perfect.
Is this the kit for me? Absolutely not. But it certainly seems what you need and that's great. I appreciate you're selecting what you need. Also, not looking for all the lumens possible is perfect sense. Nice video.
Appreciate it my friend! I'm glad someone agrees with me about the lumens, I see so many people trying to go with 300 lumens and all I could think about is the battery dying!
Subscribed and added some items from your links. Nice to hear people who actually use their tools talking about them.
Thank you! I think out of all the tools in the pouch, the one that surprised me the most is the 711L ratchet. I've been putting it under high torque loads with the Allen bits and it's been able to handle everything.
I always enjoy your videos! I do smaller technical handyman projects for family and friends. Keeping my tool bag light but as versatile as possible is my goal. I appreciate that the tool kits you feature are 'work tested' and extremely light weight and versatile! Thanks!
And I appreciate you for watching them! Thank you for the support! Yea this tool pouch is super portable and light, the crowding is a bit of a downside but overall I'm happy with it.
You were gone for a while, must've been honing your editing skills. Definitely stepped it up, welcome back congrats on the 1000 subscribers.
Agreed!
Thank you so much! I definitely missed making videos, I just need to keep at it.
i have one of the very small Lobster adjustable wrench i carry and its awesome. Very small but opens much wider then the ones you showed. I think the model number is UM24SG
That might be the route I go, I do love lobster tools, and that wide mouth might save me a lot of hassle. Thank you!
IIRC there is a small pocket in the flap of the pouch behind the "Knipex" logo. You could used it as a storage for individually packed disposable nitrile gloves. There might be also room for some compressed wipes in a tiny resealable plastic bag.
I've always heard this, but I think the pocket flap is for the bigger pouch. The small one still features the Velcro in the inside flap, but I was sad to see that mine didn't have it. Would have definitely liked to store an alcohol wipe in there.
@@dirtyboytools What about inside the flap behind velcro?
@@TK8866275 yea even the inside Velcro doesn't have the pocket like the larger pouch, I was disappointed when I found this out.
For scissors/ wire cutters I use the Klein Tools G102S Wire Scissor for me they’re the perfict systems control tech edc scissors. Ive cut 10 awg before with them in a pinch.
I have used those before, I think the pair I had gave me some trouble cutting wire ties. I like the design though, they're very compact. I'll try to find my pair though and try it out because these current scissors are a little tall for this kit.
Its a neat toolkit, I think the idea of an EDC belt toolkit though is folly. That pouch is too small for work tools and too much of a brick for EDC. For EDC a pocket slip kit is more ideal and I would omit a flashlight/knife from it as thats something ideally carried at all times but separate from the kit.
I think you should upgrade your work pouch to something that can sport 5.25" long tools which can be easily thrown into a car door, glove box, cargo pant pocket, fanny pack, etc. You'd be able to carry much more useful tools and have space to add and remove stuff without any thought. A 4" x 5.5" zippered pouch with a flatter form might even feel better despite being larger simply for being flatter.
This video would be 2x gold edited down to 10 mins.
Fair enough, but I do have love for the tools that I use, so it's hard to stop talking about them 😂
Great job my friend
Thank you brother! Always appreciate your support!
I find both the Knipex wrenches are too small. The 125mm or 150mm (my preference) handle better.
I suggest a cheater handle (steel tube) to slide over the handle of the Knipex's to extend the length. If you close up one end you can use it to store driver bits etc.
Great vid though!!
I do love using a cheater bar for wrenches and pliers. I was thinking of putting one in here but it would take up a considerable amount of space, but I'm thinking of removing the lighter anyway, so I might be able to squeeze a short one in there. And thank you my friend!
Harbor freight has some tiny locking pliers.
I will make that my next stop, maybe I can fit a pair of tiny locking pliers in there along with an adjustable and I'll take out the pliers wrench
That pouch is holding you back. Mangling a ruler, leaving out Visegrips, and Mickey Mousing that prybar as a leverage cheater are all avoidable mistakes made because you are adjusting the tools to fit the pouch. It might not be as "cool" but a larger pouch or a tool roll might be a better option. Of course, if what you have makes you happy, then don't change a thing.
I've had pouches before that provided me with leverage before, but I wanted something that I could use in and out of work. So far this pouch is helpful with that since I barely notice it on me. But I definitely want to find a better cheater bar and some vice grips that will fit inside.
Is there any reason you cannot carry 2 kits
Mostly just because I want something small that I can wear everywhere whether I'm at work or at the gas station. I'd rather just try and fit everything I need in one for the convenience of it.
@@dirtyboytools what are you going to with it at gas station
@@dennisgundlach87 you never know when you'll need tools, but I like wearing this kit with me wherever I go. Maybe I'll need some pliers at the gas station, or an eyeglass screwdriver at the mall. It just feels good to have some EDC tools on you at all times
Water key?
I used to have a control key in here with a water key option but ultimately I had to take it out because it took up too much space and I didn't use it enough
To optimize this further, you must factor in a few additional things.
The most important considerations are size and weight. Cost is also a factor if the EDC tools end up costing more than a real toolkit and are still bulky to carry every day.
I like to minimize the number of things I carry because packing your toolkit at home doesn’t mean you can pack it back on a ladder under stress and with high mental loads. After a few hours, you might realize half of your kit is gone or in the washing machine. 😂
There’s no need to ditch the multitool. Find the smallest, simplest, and most efficient EDC package and go with it. Combine the best of both worlds, in my humble opinion.
I've been in so many situations this summer trying to pack my tools back after a long hot day. Those are the days where a simple kit would have really paid off. I always appreciate it when people combine other tools with multi tools. Most multitools have a lot to offer, but supplementing them is always smart.
I’m sorry I can’t agree with most of what namelesske said about Size, weight and cost.
Size: for compact tools to work properly, you must spend money on quality tools and think outside the box sometimes but they’ll to the same thing as a multitool and more without breaking under the same circumstances guaranteed. The pouch and tools take up very little more space than a letterman in a sheath.
Weight: A kit like this doesn’t weigh anymore than a full size letterman most of the time.
Cost: A kit like this may cost a little more up front. But it’ll save time and money in the long run. By fitting into places a multi tool wont, not stripping fasteners, and not having to replace tools because they don’t have the same notorious problem multi tools have of breaking or falling apart.
As for being up on a ladder. If a tool wants to be stubborn and not go back into pouch, you put the tool in your pocket. When you get down you put it back in the case. You learn to adapt like using any tool kit. When some builds out a kit like this they’re going to know quickly when something is missing. Most of the time kits like these EDC’s that are used to make a living are cherished better than their wallet or their left nut.
I stopped buying multitool’s years ago and never regretted it. And never seen a reason to carry one after building out a pocket EDC tool kit for the exact reasons I do not agree with namelesske.
@@mumbles1justin Everybody is different, i can accept your opinion, my tool usage changes every year, it could reach a point when our opinions merge.
