I’m a fan of scout carry a small to medium fixed blade behind my back shirt covers it. Sits lower enough it doesn’t get in the way if I have a backpack on either. Also bag or shoulder strap carry is great for when I’m hiking I’ve been with people who haven’t even realized I had it until I drew it out to cut something.
I also prefer scout carry for a fix blade but I carry it cross draw Infront of me. I will go as big as a bradford g3. Having a little bit of a belly helps keep it concealed under my shirt though.

STROUP BRAVO 5 - TAKE OFF THE HEAVY BELT HARDWARE, WRAP KYDEX SHEATH WITH A FEW RANGER BANDS - CARRY IN LT FRONT POCKET - RANGER BANDS GRAB POCKET MATERIAL ON DRAW & SHEATH NEVER COMES OUT. SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE, SHARP & STABBY. BEEN CARRYING FOR OVER A YEAR AND NEVER A SINGLE PROBLEM. Also, for the belt sheaths, since you are tending to carry fairly small knives, go with a short dangler and drop the knife into your back pocket. It's still on your belt but the dangler allows the flexibility to make this mode of carry easy. Got that one from my Dad & Grand-Dad when I was still in single digit years old. Good presentation. @@JorgeSuarez-f4o - Never been a big fan of Scout Carry. I've rigged a couple of push daggers that way-ish - strapoed to bottom of a hip pack or chest rig nut that's the only way its worked for me. On belt doesn't. I go diagonal with short blades inside the belt instead - that's my preference. Just my own experience.
17:30 one gotcha about using paracord for your neck knife- it's strength creates a risk. If it gets caught on something it won't break free and can cause injury (unlike bead chain, leather, etc). There are hacks out there to add a break away to paracord. Ok, PSA done. Totally enjoy your content!
I find the the best way to carry mine is a method I got from a video by DJ Urbanovsky when he designed the Gitfo. It works well with kydex/plastic sheaths with good retention. I have a loop of cord running from the tip of the sheath to my belt, just long enough to let the knife sit nicely in the pocket. To draw I just grab the knife and pull: the sheath comes out of the pocket to the end of the loop, and the knife clicks out while the sheath falls out of the way. Re-sheathing is easy, as the sheath is out of the pocket where you can see it. You then put it back in the pocket and carry on.
Personally my favorite is the belt. I don’t have the issues of concealment because I live in Texas. I always openly carry a knife everywhere and it’s normal. I don’t like carrying knives in my pockets for space. And yeah, neck knives are definitely an odd one. I wouldn’t, but my uncle does from time to time.
I just found your channel. I have always loved knives, since I was a kid, and I’m in my sixties now. I carry my EDC knives in a couple ways. Most of the ones I EDC I carry in a teklok equipped Kydex sheath or simply down in a pocket (if the knife is small enough and has a flat enough sheath. I also like the Muela Colibri knife, and EDC carry those by putting a loop of paracord through the leather loop and then putting a carabiner through the paracord loop, and fasten the carabiner through a belt loop in the front of my pants. It works like a charm, and is easy to take off or put on as the situation requires. Thanks for sharing.
IWB at the 4 or 8 o’clock with the edge forward works great for a reverse grip draw, plus you get to flex for normal edc tasks by one hand flipping it to a Sabre grip lol. IWB appendix at 11 or 1 o’clock is comfortable with up to a 4” blade and can be drawn with either hand. Like you said carrying a fixed blade can get funny looks is why I IWB but the added strength and lack of moving parts is a major factor for me, I carry a slip joint for “regular” use/tasks and a fixed blade for medium to medium-heavy use. I find myself using the fixed blade more because it’s easier/faster to deploy, the slip joint is “socially acceptable” so a better option in some situations.
Just grabbed my first fixed blade 🤘 i grabbed a Tactical Pterodactyl knives raptor / warnie with the stripes man its a cool little knife. I saw it on one of your videos about fixed blades awhile ago. I finally got one. 🙌
The Tops Lil Bro is a super good knife to horizontal carry. (Perfect size for EDC, and it has a very robust blade, plus the price is somewhere around $100 if I recall)
@@TUKByV1 Wow. 7"-8" blades are hard to carry I think. (I only go that large when I am hiking or camping) Blade length on the Little Bro is about 3" and OAL is about 6.8" The blade is very thick (about .2" I think) - and can take a ton of use/abuse though. It comes in a kydex sheath and I carry mine in the 12:00 o'clock position. (I just slide my belt buckle about an inch off-center) - I wear my shirt un-tucked, and it conceals very well, with no printing (of course I have an old-man belly that sticks out past my belt, so the shirt hangs freely over it. If someone is skinny or wears tight shirts, this position likely would not work too well) I have carried a 5" blade like this with no problems, but I think the only practical way to carry that 7"-8" blade is going to be in a vertical side holster, or perhaps in the small of the back? (Which is not a super good place to carry for obvious reasons.)
Belt sheath fix: Appendix carry. I edc a fixed blade every single day for the last 4 years. I made my own sheath, granted, but any leather sheath with a "sideways" belt loop will do. The knife is attached on the front of your hip, not the side, and the handle faces sideways toward your belly button. This is immeasurably better than a vertical hip carry because it isnt awkward to access, you can access it with both hands from pretty much any position you will ever be in, and because of that the only thing that can prevent you from drawing it is if a rock or a tree or something has fallen on your lower abdomen. You can sheath the knife one-handed without looking with a bit of practice too. The only downsides are it's as obvious as a neck knife, and you need a keeper strap so the knife doesnt fall out if you somehow end up in a weird position.
You're on the right track but you sell your own approach short. The keeper problem can be solved with a kydex sheath, and the concealment problem by covering with your shirt either untucked or "bloused" out over the knife.
@@Watchamacallit I guess it depends on where you live, but knives are completely legal here, concealed or not. I can walk around with a combat knife on my hip if I wanted to. I do get a fair few weird looks for my appendix carried fixie, but I don't care. It isnt a weapon and I know that, doesnt matter what other people think of it. So it's visibility is only a downside if you care about that, really. But if you arent allowed to wear knives then yeah thats a problem, but you shouldnt be carrying a knife, then. XD
Im saving for a vanax creely mako. I like the leather sheath with the clip but nothing about it is moisture friendly. That vero clip with kydex might be my best option.
This is probably the best video of yours I have seen I horizontal carry a few different fixed blades. Esee 3, esee 4, demko armiger 4, bradrord Guardian 3 and my favorite is a Spartan blades harsey fighter.
Ive flattened out that lip on the ulti clip and it helps a lot! Some times I’ll add a bit of a bumper for the release as that profile gets tight. Makes removal infinitely better without getting caught.
i use to carry on my belt...but got lots of weird looks...I'm in eastern Canada, where people think its illegal to carry a blade (its not.. it just can't be for protection).. I carry in my pocket now... bounce between a WPS Nero, Benchmade Bugout and one that I won't mention in Canada.... Got an Esee 4 enroute to my place... not sure how I'll carry it yet.
When I got the Bradford Guardian 3.5 is first started carrying it appendix style but switching to scout seems a bit better for concealment. Funny enough I prefer the 3.5 with the edge up for scout carry since the knife itself is a bit curved. This means I can easily swap between appendix and scout carry without changing anything on the sheath. Best part is that there is more pocket space. Normally my folder sits in my right back pocket but now both back pockets are free and I can sit more comfortably.
I regularly carry a TOPS C.U.T. 4.0 with the included pull-the-dot biothane loops. I'll use both loops to carry weak-side horizontally at work or just one to carry IWB vertically, as a retention knife. The knife has a clumsy name, but performs very well and edge the comes back easily with stropping. One downside to neck knives is one-handed resheathing. If the retention is strong, as on an Izula, it can be uncomfortable to painful after resheathing a bunch. it's not an action you want to rush, either.
Great video. I would recommend trying horizontal belt carry with something similar to the Armatus Carry sheaths. They also offer just the straps to convert any of the kydex sheaths you showed into horizontal carry compatible. I carry mine everyday on the front left of my belt. Works great. Keeps pockets empty, easy access and doesn't interfere at all with other stuff that may get carried on a belt.
Great video. If you have not tried horizontal cross draw appendix, carry on your belt, you might change your mind about carrying a knife on your belt. Very comfortable concealable, and one of my favorite ways to carry.
My thing is that I would like to find a deep carry pocket fixed blade that comes as a package ideally not having to by a knife from one place then having to get a leather sheath from another place , I would like to find one as a hole package
Typer, you might want to explore belt sheaths that come with a dangler option. Way more user-friendly. Also, belt sheaths that don't come with danglers can be easily converted into dangling sheaths a number of ways, including just stringing a loop of paracord through the sheath loop.
Oak city looks very nice . Been debating if I should order one for my TKells Guardian. Oh there’s nothing wrong about TKells sheath . I just want to carry in front pocket sometimes
Just get the descent clip from TKELLS for your Guardian, that’s what I did , but I like the belt clip , because you can draw the Guardian left or right handed from the belt
Here are the problems with front pocket fixed blade carry and the one way to fix it. Every sheath you show either rides so low that you can only grab it with two fingers and have to shift it to get a full grip; or rides so high that while you can get a full grip at first try, it's impossible to conceal. Incidentally, even the low riding sheaths leave too much visible to be safe in non-permissive environments like many of us face in cities. There are kydex sheaths (like the ones that come with Tkell knives) that cover only the blade, allowing you to get an immediate full grip with hand in your pocket, but: a) the sheath sits at the bottom of the pocket, too low to use a pocket clip; b) even if the sheath comes with a thumb push so you can pop the knife out, you either wind up with the blade exposed before it leaves your pocket, or you pop the sheath outside your pocket and it lands on the ground. The one way around these issues is to use a sheath that covers only the blade, with a static cord fastened to your belt or nearest belt loop. There's nothing visible except a few inches of cord. You get a full grip, pull the knife with sheath attached, and it pops off within inches of the draw.
Not really sold on these fixed blade carry options, I do have two small belt carry fixed blades and an Odenwolf W mini that can ride in a pocket easily. The neck carry option looks like "Combat Carl" maybe good for a woods carry option. Thumbs up and subscribed
I have carried a Bradford Gaurdian 3 in its leather sheath for about 2 years now, I love the way it stays completely out of my way even sitting down in my truck seat. Would love a sheath with some type of retention though, because I always worry about it falling out. Any suggestions?
I currently EDC a neck knife (Buck 476 Diamondback) and sometimes belt carry a PKS Scorpion. I hate to have my pockets bulging so I only carry a SAK, a BIC lighter, and a chap-stick in my left front pocket.
I used to carry my izula with kydex armatus sheath. I sold it and miss my izula such a good knife... but folding knives are just so much easier to carry large blades. I don't see a point carrying fixed blade if its only 2in long
I am happy with my taylored by cortes pocket sheath with double x clip for my dcc lil rascal and a discreet carry concepts belt clip for my kydex on my bgm knives javelin
Great video, quite informative unfortunately living in Australia, especially after the recent spike in knife attacks, i worry about even carrying my leatherman arc, the stupid thing is the laws dont even stop people who want to harm.
Hi Taylor! Thanks for doing this video! 👍 I want to carry a small fixed blade! Cross draw on the belt is cool! I also want to carry a fixed blade in my pocket! Have any good ideas on a budget one?
Once you go fixie ya don't go back. My favorite sheath so far is the leather sheath with ulti clip that comes with the Creely Mako. I don't even feel the knife in my pocket. I want to get sheaths like that made for some of my TKell blades such as the Nightguard and Guardian for when I don't feel like a belt sheath. Although a kydex in scout/appendix carry is also good if it is tight to the body like the TKell sheaths. Never got the hang of neck knives, they move around too much for me, I want the muscle memory of exactly where the blade is when I need it.
I was determined to pocket carry a fixed blade for so long, I never found a comfortable pocket sheath, then I realized scout carrying a small fixed blade was ideal for me. Front belt left side horizontal very concealed easily accessible most importantly easy access while sitting..
I think you should introduce some of your leather sheath making friends to your other friends over at Big Idea to collab on a sheath that uses the Big Idea clip from their Kydex sheath that is coming with the Lookout 😂
I like belt scout carry sheaths, but they have to be made right, and be secure. Don't like for it to be able to slide around on the belt once positioned and locked down.
You forgot to mention Delta Sheaths, they have ulticlips and soon Luis is going to implement DCC clips as well. They're also on the cheap side compared to some of the displayed options.
Urban EDC, I keep a mini folder tucked behind my belt at 5 o'clock. Not because it's hidden(though it is) but because I found it was sloooowly wearing through my jeans' pocket. Keeping it btwn my belt and jeans keeps it from damaging my home/car upholstery but always handy for boxes, rope, etc. I work with alot of rescues so being able to slice that dog food bag or cat-treat bar goes a long way vs a fixed blade getting in the way of my everyday needs for pocket carry.
Have you seen the BMKT IPT (in the pocket) clip. It retails for only $13. It’s a really good design and affordable. We will be including them with our new fixed blade that will be released in June.
I like the Piranha's kydex. It is folded the other way around than most other "taco-style kydex", so that the clip used does not interfere with the index finger. The knife has been on my wish list for a long time. I most often use kydex + UltiClip for my small fixed and am looking forward to testing the BigIdeaDesign Lockout in June. Does anyone have an idea where to get the Discreet Carry Concept Clips in Europe?
I carry my neck knife in my pocket, it’s small and stays upright in my pocket. When I expect to use the knife for an extended period, I just put it on. Then once the job is completed, it goes back into my pocket. I use bead chain rather than leather or para cord, since the bead chain kind of manages itself. When using para cord, I also loop it through my belt or belt loop which retains the sheath if I pull the knife out from my pocket quickly.
Generally prefer some of the sideways belt carries over the vertical one. Appendix, scout, there's a few. Less irritating when you have to bend over or sit, pretty easy to get out and put back in, some downsides but you get used to it pretty fast. They tend to be basically like the belt carry but IMO more comfortable and easier to forget about.
I've been really trying to pocket carry but i just can't get past the room it takes up. I always have my phone in my right pocket so with a sheath in there, it makes it hard to pull my phone out. However, I recently got the bilgewater blacktail which came with a slim leather sheath and it's been the best experience so far.
Did you adjust your DCC clips? Mine are so tight I can barely clip it to my pocket. I almost need to take my pants off to unclip. Your clip looks like there is a little space under that fabric tang. My clips have zero space. THANKS for this video!
Oh, do I have a sheath for you. I carried a fixed blade Becker BK16 over 3 years straight, and unless I took it out to use it, nobody knew. It was quick to get out and easy to get in when I got familiar with it.
There are a couple other options i know of that work,... one is in pocket with paracord from kydex hole to belt, and another is just kydex sheath loose in pocket like i've done with the benchmade anonimus for the past 6 months
Kydex is the way to go because you can buy cheap plastic pocket clips that you can angle on your sheath just right. The handle and sheath is completely hidden in my pocket and it’s just the pocket clip that shows. Having said that, you can’t carry like that in public here in Australia or you would be charged with having a knife and concealed carry.
The retention of an an ulti clip is awsome ,but I won’t use them because of the sharp edges , It scratches my hand while walking and is super annoying ,I’ve also put scratches in the paint work in my car why they Can’t chamfer the edges??
i just use the Nite Ize Total Eclipse - Mountable Self-Locking Pocket Clip for Smartphones on a knife sheath and works amazing as a knifeclip similar to that of the utliclip
Neck knives are one of my favorite ways to carry. One HUGE issue is if you have little kids. Picking them up. If the retention isn't strong enough it can fall out. Which isn't good obviously
I carry a mora Garberg in horizontal position in the small of my back anytime I'm working everyday. I didn't think id like it but I use it everyday and feel naked without it. Ill add that I always work in overalls and I always tuck my shirt in so I'm never fighting a shirt or jacket for access to it. I always also have a folder in an opposite pocket to the side with which the garberg draws. Garberg draws right folder draws left. (I'm a machinist, I've seen people pulled into machines. right sleeve gets caught left hand can cut me free and vice versa.) Besides my 940 is too great to leave at home!
They had a local leather worker make one for their USA-made batches. I'm sure you could commission one with that maker, but I don't know who it is. Maybe DM them on IG to see
Why not horizontal mount the sheath on the belt? It can help conceal the knife, with it not leaving the beltline.

Horizontal leather belt sheath for that little fixed blade is the way to go dude I had my leather guy make mine for a okc rat 4 and it’s epic
What do you think of that Raptor? Is it a Mini? Been checking them for a while
Wondering the same thing I’m thinking of getting one but I don’t know what size to look for
I have carried a Bradford Gaurdian 3 in its leather sheath for about 2 years now, I love the way it stays completely out of my way even sitting down in my truck seat.
I carry an Izula 2 in a guardian 3 appendix carry sheath. It’s very comfortable and you can be all in for around 100 bucks!!!
I carry my izula with a kydex sheath and ulticlip behind the belt loop left side .
I think you should introduce some of your leather sheath making friends to your other friends over at Big Idea to collab on a sheath that uses the Big Idea clip from their Kydex sheath that is coming with the Lookout 😂
The sheath being for the lookout lol
I have Kydex but way too expensive and making a leather sheath is a better idea.
Agreed! We need a leather pocket sheath.
I like belt scout carry sheaths, but they have to be made right, and be secure. Don't like for it to be able to slide around on the belt once positioned and locked down.
Looking forward to trying the sheath and clip from the BigiDesign Lookout.
I edc fixed blades always with a kydex sheath and soft loops almost appendix being a lefty I wish they would offer more ambidextrous options
Craziness, was just looking this up a couple hrs ago. 🙌
You forgot to mention Delta Sheaths, they have ulticlips and soon Luis is going to implement DCC clips as well. They're also on the cheap side compared to some of the displayed options.
The Vero clip seems to fit the Armatus kydex sheaths. Also, you can move the clip down. You don't have to attach it to the top hole.
I have it attached to the bottom hole on the TPK but other sheaths, it makes too much stick out of the pocket.
Yo, weird question but what are you wearing?? I love pants with the quarter panel pockets and been looking for a good pair.
Any recommendations on knife and leather pocket sheath sold together? Link? Thanks
Do you have a link to get the lookout knife "i think thats what you called the knife at the beginning of the video"
This was a great video, useful info, carrying methods/sheaths are so important! Thanks.
Do ambi sheaths effect retention or cause rattle
fantastic... something different.. love it... Slip joint carry options next?
I like the Piranha's kydex. It is folded the other way around than most other "taco-style kydex", so that the clip used does not interfere with the index finger. The knife has been on my wish list for a long time.
I most often use kydex + UltiClip for my small fixed and am looking forward to testing the BigIdeaDesign Lockout in June. Does anyone have an idea where to get the Discreet Carry Concept Clips in Europe?
Id like to see a video about top 5 edc/tactical everyday pants i always have trouble finding a good brand and style that allows me to carry my EDC
Darn, was hoping on some experience and recommendations for boot edc carry
Generally prefer some of the sideways belt carries over the vertical one. Appendix, scout, there's a few. Less irritating when you have to bend over or sit, pretty easy to get out and put back in, some downsides but you get used to it pretty fast. They tend to be basically like the belt carry but IMO more comfortable and easier to forget about.
Yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to getting my lookout and Tigerwood from Big i design
Why not horizontal in-line with the belt? Pro/con?
Oh, do I have a sheath for you. I carried a fixed blade Becker BK16 over 3 years straight, and unless I took it out to use it, nobody knew. It was quick to get out and easy to get in when I got familiar with it.
Love the audio. Its nice and clear. Thanks
There are a couple other options i know of that work,... one is in pocket with paracord from kydex hole to belt, and another is just kydex sheath loose in pocket like i've done with the benchmade anonimus for the past 6 months
Bladeville sends their regards.
You links for the discreet carry clips seem to be off.
Scout carry small of the back or appendix depending on blade size.
1:20 that dad joke was so bad it immediately gave me heartburn
What watch is that you're wearing?
The retention of an an ulti clip is awsome ,but I won’t use them because of the sharp edges , It scratches my hand while walking and is super annoying ,I’ve also put scratches in the paint work in my car why they Can’t chamfer the edges??
I use my neck knife everyday for the last 3-4 years. Comes in handy for work, hunting and fishing.
i just use the Nite Ize Total Eclipse - Mountable Self-Locking Pocket Clip for Smartphones on a knife sheath and works amazing as a knifeclip similar to that of the utliclip
Neck knives are one of my favorite ways to carry.
One HUGE issue is if you have little kids. Picking them up. If the retention isn't strong enough it can fall out. Which isn't good obviously
Did you say which is your favorite way to carry out of all those ways?
..... is it just me or are the links..... not working
Nice Wicket! How many of those you have?
Just one…
My favorite way to carry is horizontal apendex carry in the front with the AK1
I fell for the neck knife carry option (for fixed)...love opening some pocket real estate.
Mummert titanium clips iwb are a nice tool to.
Taylor, try belt 'scout carry' (horizontal). You didn't show any in your video.
I don't care for belt carry, especially appendix or scout
Thoughts on scout carry?
Not a fan
I was robbed the other day, got away good, the robber not so well, he ran into my knife 15 times.....
No shot
Anyone making a leather pocket sheath for the BigIDesign Lookout? One you like?
They had a local leather worker make one for their USA-made batches. I'm sure you could commission one with that maker, but I don't know who it is. Maybe DM them on IG to see
I just started carrying an EDC belt knife Efengow 121 nice for a first timer but that kadex sheath 😏
What kind of pants are you wearing?
Iv carried my PTK Raptor midsize for the last two years every day. Normally on my belt at my 1-2 o’clock. Perfect size and can’t beat a fixed blade
I have a kabar fixed blade 1211how do I carry it
Kydex + belt loop + scout carry 👌
Unfortunately, I live in the SFBA. Strictly open carry here!?
It would be nice to know the name of the knives!
This is the best way to cary your knife😊
There's a movie called Crocodile Dundee have you seen it?
I EDC a Hogue Extrak in my front hoodie pocket in the factory sheath.
S&W HRT dagger, kydex from RK Customs, clipped to belt, tip up carry. Don't have to defeat my garment for the draw.
Knife laws are getting crazy
People are crazier. 😅
Really? They're getting more lax where I am. At the beginning of last year they passed a law so I could carry my otf legally.
Don't forget UK wanting to ban and prohibit knife purchases lol. Knife attack capital of the world. Wonder why 😂
@@DreamTubes Would you rather the citizens of the UK dodge bullets instead? Live The NRA Dream! Move to Chicago! Everyone is armed!
Cause yall keep stabbing people😂
I carry my LT Wright GP OWB with the stealth it comes with, just cover it with whatever T i’m wearing that day.
Hey!!! What Up, Bud ??? Check Out The “Beckwith Covert” From Fisher Blades… An Absolute True Cut Above The Rest… Super Freaking Awesome As Heck…
