- This video will walk you through all of the steps for how to install user LUTs on Sony cameras. This is a new feature for Sony cameras like the a6700, ZV E1, a7c II, FX3, and FX30. I also expect to see it in their upcoming cameras. Being able to install and utilize User LUTs on Sony cameras is one of my favorite new features and it will likely be one of yours, but first you have to know how to do it. I love the LUTs feature on these new Sony cameras. Here are 5 other newer settings and features that blew my mind: ruclips.net/video/AVXjctb0SAw/видео.htmlsi=oOiM93v2d1uCW54Q
You don't have to shoot in log mode. If you leave that off and go into picture profiles you can scroll down until you get to your user luts. Basically you can bake your lut into the image straight out of camera if you want. At least on the FX30.
What ISO do you shoot at?
But shooting in log is safer to do just in case you change your mind about the lut. As someone that fit weddings, I happen to change my mind on my colors once I start editing, so have the lut baked to your footage isn't advised unless you only do vlogs and social media stuff
@@shuggfilmzandstudio2354 But he is saying there's an option to have the LUT baked in where the video never mentioned it. Not everyone wants to color grade after the fact. Some just want to shoot and share to social media or youtube, like shooting in S Cinetone.

You are my new go-to now for tips. No BS fluff. Just right to the point. Just got a ZV-E1 to compliment my A7iv so I'm going hard on using the ZV as my main video cam now but will apply what I can to my A7. Thanks dude. You deserve way more subs.
So actually I discovered once you finish installing, instead of going to log(I didn't even turn it on), just open it from picture profile from color/tone, it already has preset profiles, you can just select the ones you just installed and replace them, and the color graded image will just stay with full quality instead of flat/noisy image. I found this feature so amazing and convenient, it worked on both of my fx3 and a7cii. I'm not 100 percent sure about the older models but I think the newer models all have the ability to do that.

No you will just have to use the luts post . Basically in Lightroom

Are LUTs can be applied for photo instead of video, if not, why not, if Sony can apply LUT on photos, there gonna be huge selling point where Fuji is dictating market with their film simulation

... i woulkd try out this but i have not this Option LUT on the Pink Menü. I follow your instructions and create this Path and copy the .cube LUTs into but still not get the Menü to import on the Kamera... what did i wrong
If you install a LUT on the camera, when you export your video to your editing software, will you need to apply the same LUT on top of the video in post production, like in Premiere Pro, in order to see the changes (i.e., not see the flat grey look)? Basically, do we need to apply the LUT twice (once in camera and a second time in post production)?
Any chance these internal luts can be used for jpg or photos

It’s not totally unlikely we’ll see this in an update to the A7 IV but I wouldn’t hold my breath, Sony is often very slow and sparse with meaningful updates if any.
Guys dont be dumb like me make sure your camera is dialled into video mode and not camera mode before freaking out that your camera menu is different hahah thanks for the awesome video!
Hey man, great video as usual. But I have 1 problem. I downloaded the official sony lut. There are 2 files. One is the normal slog to 709 and another that is slog to 709 'TypeA'. Which one should I import into my a6700?
How color accurate is the onboard screen to how it'll look? though I do realize everyone's displays will make the color look different

I pulled the trigger and copped the a6700 for my birthday. I’m trying to get a sense on how to use LUTS, and installing them, but all of it is Chinese Math to me.
I would say that the worst part about this feature is that exposure tools do no bypass the LUT.
I don't need Zebras to tell me that with a LUT applied there is overexposure. I need it to tell me without the LUT applied whether or not there is over exposure. Because in post one of those two scenarios is recoverable, and the other isn't.
All exposure tools should always bypass the LUT for this reason, because in order to get the best image and post and preserve the most amount of data, exposure needs to be pushed to the right on Sony, but if I have tools telling me that I'm "over exposed" when I'm not, then I can't expose the camera in an optimal way.
Anyway, other than that, thanks for the quick instructional video.

Hi guys, don´t know if this happened to anyone but my on my Sony A7CII when I go to the "Embed LUT File", it appears grey and it stays in OFF. When I click it it says"This operation or setting not available as follows". Select LUT, S-Log3." Does anyone know how to fix this?? Thanks!

If you're using multiple LUTs in series, you can use Davinci to export an equivalent single LUT

Hi Sean, If I want to record a zoom call. I want to save a log file (without LUT) in camera but to the zoom I send out a video signal with LUT applied so that it looks good while we talk. Is there a way to do it?
Hi Sean, thanks for the explanation! I noticed you picked the TypeA lut from the Sony zip file. I'm using the a6700, is that the one to go with or could I even use them all? Basically: whats the difference with the other luts in the Sony zip file?
Question. Using the a7cii, if you can’t use both a conversion LUT and the creative LUT for preview, won’t it look different than in post. In my eyes without the conversion LUT, the camera is showing LOG to the LUT. Wouldn’t it need to be LOG> Conversion> and stylized LUT on the camera to be accurate?

I’ve an issue with my a6700, after going into the Exposure tab, and Color/Tone pathway, I have no option for LUT’s, only have access to D-Range, Creative Look, Picture Profile and Soft Skin Effect….nothing else.

Also, why are you using the Low Contrast version of the LUT?
I think that is more of the screen recording. It comes through a bit more contrasted in application.

Why does it say file cannot be loaded when I try this?
I dont understand , I thought since luts are now set before recording than we can have a video file that is colored the way we want without needing post processing . Do we still need to do post processing ? what are luts for then ? I came from fujifilm where film simulations and recipes give you a video/still file with the colors u wanted without any editing. how can I have that in sony ? creative styles is not enough , it just has some highlighs shadows color saturation etc, thats not very interesting to me.

I get error messages whenever I try to load any other LUT than Sonys. The Sony LUTS load successfully. I'm using a ZV-E1 set to Flexible ISO

7 months ago, I had 1100 to buy a camera. I invested in the zv-e10, I sold my camera for 500 and bought the 6700. Was this a good trade off?

Yes as long as you get access to your sd card, this should work just as well. Same process once you connected and chosen file transfer 👍

Sad news for me, I was grabbing some files on my A7RV and saw the LUT folder... long story short, it lead me to this video but it seems the A7RV cant do it... Crap that the updates have prepared the camera for it but clearly Sony doesn't want us to have it. on my sony a7iv it's not even an option, which is fair
